I like how they address that Squanchy's status was completely unknown since Season 2's finale so him being still alive is seen as a "I told you so" moment by Rick.

Mr. Poopybutthole was ALSO voiced by Justin, so to show off the new Mr. Poopybutthole with a whole episode devoted to him just shows off how good this new guy is.
Neither of the new guys that do Rick and morty did poopy butthole it was some other guy. Still I agree they did a really good job

I straight up forgot Mr Poopybutthole was also voiced by Justin until like halfway through the episode. Also loved how casual this episode was!
Nobody ever seems to remember that he was voiced by Justin, which is crazy, because this episode just shows HOW good the new Mr. Poopybutthole voice actor is!

@@noremac7216I’m certain that for the trailer they purposely put parts of the season that are noticeably different that’s the original voices so people talk about it online and it gets basically free advertising 🤷♂️

I’ve been saying, the voices are pretty good, go back and watch season 1 to 2 voice change, no one said a thing.great start to the season.
This episode almost didn’t feel real, I forget how episodic this show is. It’s a fun start to a new season. I like how Rick roped in the rest of his mates for the booze up and then the dude who lives across the road from him. Rick did mention Face Huggers at one point, I imagined that eventually a Predator would appear lol.

Voices were honestly done great, without all the news i wouldnt have known and i do pay attention to voice acting.
I think the new voices are great. There was an article released a few days ago that detailed the casting process, and it was actually pretty rigorous. The fact that neither Ian Cardoni (Rick) nor Harry Belden (Morty) were in any major project before this just shows they weren't going for star power or name recognition but instead, based it strictly on performance alone, which is admirable, imo.
Btw, as someone who also watches your Always Sunny reactions, I loved the Rickety Cricket reference! 😆

It's awesome that they gave us a payoff of Poopy's decent. Also when I watched this episode for the first time I actually forgot that Rick and Morty weren't being voiced by Justin anymore

Outside of voices, nothing's changed as this season was written before Roiland got fired, and even then he wasn't doing much writing at that point.
When I first watched this, I forgot about the voice issue. As a result I didn't notice the voice change at all. And upon watching with the reaction, I think the voices are spot-on.

@@dszn3 the trailer for S7 they showed showcased it well the rick voice is not great when he goes on the rants with a louder tone but the morty voice is quite literally on the mark regular talking rick is also quite good as showcased in this episode

Quite honestly the voices aren't bad like when it comes out to Morty his voice is almost a one to one just a little bit higher but it's like with Rick it's like kind of like he's diet. what's missing from Rick's voice is the gruffness, but besides that, it's pretty spot on.
I disagree. I think Rick is pretty much perfect and I'm just not sold on Morty yet. And maybe part of that's because we didn't get to hear him as much this episode but right out the gate I was amazed at how good Rick's was

Morty was indistinguishable to me. Rick for maybe the first minute or two seemed ever so slightly off but very quickly it became seamless. If anything Mr PB was the one that was noticeably different but even then it was close enough for government work.

watching you guys try to take notes on all this took it to a whole nother level. and, yeah - that the show gets more character-based than situation-based at this point seems deliberately ironic... but after a couple more episodes, I really want to hear more of Morty
The voice actors did a great job, Rick sounds 99% like Roiland.
Not even remotely true and they had the luxury of having Roiland’s already recorded lines for this season. All they had to do was mime over the performance. Without that it’ll most likely be even more in shambles

@@Childofbhaal I think you're completely missing the point of why Roiland was let go in the first place. To have his voice at all linked to this season would defeat the point. I also agree with phrophannus, the voices themselves are close to spot on. Rick's new VA doesnt quite pack the punch that Roiland had but give it a few more episodes I'll not notice the difference.
The fans on Reddit really hate the episode but those guys tend to be meh now on any episode that doesn't deal with the overall lore and mythos of Rick's backstory. Calling it the "worst episode" when the giant sperm one exists is overreacting😅.
I atleast chuckled at the giant sperm episode, I barely cracked a smile in this one

This episode was written by the same guy who wrote the sperm episode. Personally I like the light-hearted episodes and the story Centric episodes and I just didn't think this was a very good episode. It wasn't as bad as the sperm episode but it was still pretty boring. It got off to a strong start but didn't go anywhere with it. I actually enjoyed the game getting together and just going out to party, but then it lasted the rest of the episode without any real development. It might not be the worst episode but I think it is the most boring
In my opinion: Ricksy Business, Rickdependance Spray, and this episode are the worse
I think this is a good start of the season. I actually enjoyed the episode.

I think Rick sounds his best in short sentences with lots of inflections. If he is talking normally I can definitely notice. His voice is generally less gruff sounding. Morty sounds pretty uncanny though.

I forgot Mr poopybutthole was voiced by justin roiland so I literally thought it sounded the exact same and now that i know he was voiced by justin, i think his voice his better now.
only issue with voices is poopybutthole but i got used to it over the episode

When I saw the trailer of season 7 I thought the honey was beer
I enjoyed it but I agree with Eric - the voices weren't a problem (they were pretty perfect honestly) it's just the rest of it wasn't... that... funny. I didn't like them having the Predator in there. There wasn't any twist on the joke, it was just the Predator from the movies. That's a Family Guy thing, not a Rick and Morty thing. Rick and Morty will have a Die Hard or The Purge-style episode but will always have an extra edge or subvert those expectations. This didn't.
I mainly noticed the lack of a terrible B plot and meta jokes, and it's actually taking itself seriously again instead of shitty on the audience for wanting it

Rick and Morty is Back!!!!!
Ricks lacking a Very minor raspiness but in terms of closeness it was shocking at first. Almost didnt notice anything but the flow of the writing is well enough that you would barely notice it by the end of a joke. Thats amazing.
Mortys voice is similarly just a hair off but if you mixed up the lines im not sure most people would be able to pick it out.
Ngl lie them having 2 difference voice actors kinda feels better. Those differences just feel more natural for their relation.

Rick and Morty's new voices are pretty good, very hard to tell the difference, although it's easier to tell the difference with Rick sometimes. Mr. Poopybutthole though, that one is very noticeable.

I really liked this episode, and as far as the new voices go I often forgot there were new voices at all. I am so disheartened to see how much hate this episode is getting around the internet, I'm glad to see positivity for it here.

Love the new voices and I thought the Hugh Jackman stuff was hilarious too. This was such a great episode and proved the show’s definitely just as good without Roiland. Finally, I hope Calvin’s feeling better now with his own Mr. Poopy Butthole. “Ooo-WEE!”😂💩

This felt like random, slow paced, goofy classic Rick and Morty, and I loved it for that. I hope the proper multi-verse adventure episodes will follow suit.

honestly nothing has changed in terms of writing its just as good, not surprising though considering justin only erote 10 episodes of the whole thing and left all the work to dan then had the nerve to claim dan "took the show from him" like my guy you wrote nothing while getting blackout drunk and having constant useless takes in the booth due to it its why the show kept taking so long to come out it was always dans show in reality and he had to bring his writers on board cause once again he was being left to do all of the work
if it was ACTUALLY justins show i wouldn't keep watching and everything would be different after he left but in reality it wasn't and i dont even think he should of been fired but that also wasn't dans call.

I think it was too. Not so much the drinking and kidnapping but at the end where they said don’t worry about him he’s gonna be ok. It felt like a nice little nod to the irl events but they did say in a interview they’re not gonna touch on the stuff that happened with Justin Roiland. They have too much respect for him and so they should. I’ve said this a couple times already but u can’t really hate on Justin Roiland and still enjoy Rick and morty. If u don’t like roiland coz of bullshit u hear on the internet then Rick and morty probably isn’t ur type of humour 😂
@@itchyphuck6975 Well, he was arrested for battery and false imprisonment (fancy way of saying kidnapping) in 2020 but obv certain charges were dropped and is known to be a heavy drinker. Just all seemed to line up Mr.PBH in this episode. Haha

It was funny with familiar Rick and Morty moments but was it me or did it feel more 'Famly Guy' than 'Rick and Morty' at times?
I've never watched Family Guy, but I did think this was one of the worst Rick and Morty episodes in recent years. It had nothing to do with the voices, though. I thought they were good.
A bunch of the jokes felt kinda... forced? Like I think R&M usually has an extra layer to its humor that makes it funnier, but here it was often missing that. The perfect example is the lawnmower tag at the end. Why is that funny? What is the joke? That the lawnmower keeps going? But why? It's like something is missing there. I feel like I would've loved to laugh at that joke if it wasn't for that missing element. A bunch of the jokes in the episode felt like that, or like they were added for the sake of fanservice, like the Predator, Hugh Jackman referencing his movies (it's funny how you can always tell if an actor is voicing themselves in an animated show based on how much or how little they shit on them), forced references to previous seasons, etc.
The funniest joke in the episode I thought was the robot ghost. That one was at least a bit clever. Overall this episode gave me the same vibes that season 4 Community gives me compared to the rest of that show.

I think this was one of the weaker episodes. The voice changes were not noticeable but I did miss the A and B plots

for the love that i have for this show but i kinda feel upst about what happend to the orginal voices i mean justin roiland and Dan Harmon was the big part of the work some of idea the strange funny moement and now hes out . thats kinda hurt for real and i realiazed that the show not gonna be that funny like the past seasone from watching thr first episode but i hope it turns better and even the returne of the orginal creator to the show even thoo its possible but we all wish that.

Why isn't Roiland back if he wasn't proven guilty of anything?
I think he just wants a quiet life now. There’s a few moments in rick and morty/solar opposites where his characters will say things like.. real talent is not being seen, the ideal world is to be left alone etc.. he did a video before he left where he was looking at people doing impressions so I think he was looking to step down for a while
The voice replacements are fine, but this episode was the worst and just wasn't very funny, like at all. I think i cracked a smile once, while even the second worst episode still made me chuckle a little.
Yeah… felt like they tried too hard to land jokes. Hope episode 2 picks it up.
