The "Rick" stuck in Jerry's mind is from the Birdperson episode where his memory of Rick stowed away in Rick's mind at the end of the episode.
Aha it WAS him! I knew I recognized the haircut, but I thought it was just a stump of Rick’s brain still stuck inside Jerry, at first.
I was thinking that was the case but I had to remember how his story ended in 5x8. Now rewatching it’s 100% the same one since at the end of that episode he said he wanted to stay a memory and not become real so that he wouldn’t turn into old grumpy Rick 😂
How did they miss this but something tells me he's definitely gonna change Jerry over time and probably have recurring episodes on the show.
I truly believe now that the real evolution in the show is not the relationship between Rick and Morty, it's between Rick and Jerry
I mean it's easy to see rick love's Morty Beth and even the summer its literally surprising for most fans to see how rick and jerry actually love each other lmao 🤣👍💖
Hard agree.
In the earlier seasons I loved the evolving relationship between Rick and Morty, but as of now, Morty has grown too jaded and sarcastic, he has become a sort of pseudo-rick, some may call it character progression but I don't really like it that much.
Jerry though, I love how his innocence bounces off of Rick's apathy and hostility, and how Rick slowly opens up to him.
The Rick at the end wasn't just a bit of Rick, it was the Memory of 30 year old Rick from the previous season, that hid in Rick's brain, hopped over from Bird Person. Because it was still in there, it preserved them separately and let them come back. And then he got stuck in Jerry.
It’s literally impossible to remember all the crazy sh*t that happens in this show, might just drop it 🤷♂️
It's impressive they kept the way 'memory existence' works consistent. Birdperson had never been through a portal, so portals didn't work inside his memories. He only knew the gun shot 'green holes'. Jerry has no understanding of ANY technology, so there's no components for Rick to build anything with.
I like to think the reason Rick killed himself is becasue he still has the memory of what the talking cat did but in Jerry's body he did not have the mental fortitude to cope with it so he immediately went for the gun.
Congratulations sir you are the only one who remembers that unfortunately this may include the writers of the show.
You are so absolutely right that I just had a moment of realization, I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THAT lmao
Memory Rick is a past memory of Rick from back in the episode where Rick went into Bird Persons mind. At the end of that episode he escaped Bird Persons Mind and went into Ricks, surviving as a separate loving consciousness inside Rick's memories.
Memory Rick is the sentient young memory of rick from bird person from S5E8
Someone else said that Rick lost all of his coping skills, alcohol drugs, Jerry’s bodies healthy, but Rick still has all his issues, and no coping skills so he lost it and killed himself
Of all the things Rick has experienced, being Jerry is one of the few things that literally drove him to kill himself, he hates Jerry that much...
Lol did we even see The same episode? He loves jerry he probably just saw jerry's traumatic memories (I mean jerry is canonically a CSA survivor not to mention some crazy maid tried to r*pe him) and having no coping mechanisms like rick he just ends it. I also think the memory of jerry banging Beth also added to Rick's mental turmoil.
Rick tried killing himself way back when Unity left him, he just passed out before the machine activated.
@@Joseph_Siri I thought that too until I re-watched it. After Jerry's body kills himself and moments before Rick's body shoots off into the ceiling, Rick's body says "Okay Jerry, you can do this"
@@Skana I just assumed Rick was talking about Jerry's mind and train of thoughts. Because Rick was making fun of the concept of brain swapping rather than mind swapping earlier before doing this.
That's memory Rick from the Bird Person episode. He moved their consciousness into one another's brains, then after they died the garage put the exploded brains back the best she could but couldn't tell what pieces went where, so they're even more mixed up, it escalates from there.
Chucksly was one of the better one-off characters in recent memory. His lines killed me every time
The Conehead kill was amazing to me. Rick looked so happy that he had a reason to have that feature. Is it strange that I actually want to frame that scene and have people look at it out of context?
I think Rick in Jerry'd brain did that because of all the fucked up shit he's done but he's in a brain that can't handle stress and bad memories as well.
I think Rick killed himself in Jerrys brain, because the physical brain chemistry in Jerrys brain is so depressed that that was the immediate outcome for anyone without Jerrys determination to continue despite his situation.
22:22 explaining the Howard Dean scream is wild to me as someone who remembered it at the time. I was 14 and remember how hard he got dragged for it
03:08-03:23 ( during the brain swtiching part ) Up until this point, I thought the machine would've revealed each other's memories instead of switching their minds, and so I thought that's why Jerry, after seeing Rick's memory in it's entirety, just wanted to kill himself rather than, to keep on living with Rick's memories.
But only after Rick's body called himself *Jerry* did I understand that Rick's experiment worked.
I honestly thought what happened was that their minds swapped 50/50 after the AI rearranged their brain chunks.
I think Jerry killed himself because of the knowledge Rick has and disturbed him so much that he killed himself. Remember Rick still has the memory and knowledge of what the talking cat did
@@Salza02 but jerry was never as disturbed about the switch as Rick was
it's crazy how most people completely forgot about memory rick! I've been wondering about what happened with it since the episode he was presented 🤣
I think jerry kinda proved his point, rick's brain is definitely structured more efficiently, at the least...
Doofus Rick is proof that Rick was right, seeing the possibility of a jerry
@@tomtucker4157 I don't get what point you're trying to make at all lol.
Rick with Jerry’s intelligence can’t rationalise the shit he’s done and the horrors he’s witnessed.
I think Rick's brain in Jerry's mind had a "Flowers for Algernon" moment and decided that self deletion was better than continuing to exist with such a limited mind.
Eric listens to Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend as well. Respect.
@@MrChefBoyardee he’s always been a legend and he doesn’t just get famous guests but guests relevant to his life, like writers that most people wouldn’t really know but deserve the spotlight
The greatest compliment to both the new voice actors of Rick and Chris Parnell, the V.A. of Jerry, is that they managed to successfully pull off what I've been calling the Blanc Paradox.
Mel Blanc was the voice of the original Buggs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and like 40% of the other most famous Looney Toons. In the 1953 episode "Duck! Rabbit! Duck!", Mel Blanc performs a legendary scence where Buggs impersonates Daffy, and vice versa, for a WHILE. The emotion and motivation of each character shines through immaculately even channeled through each other's "voice".
All his contemporaries, and even voice actors born after the man had been passed, give reverence to the feat, and theres almost no clips of even proffesional V.A.'s being able to achieve the same quality in their attempts.
Even as cross-faded as I was watching this episode and reaction, I coud hear these two actors working gloriously together to conquer the Blanc Paradox 😂.
They did so well, and it was such a gutsy call to make on only the second episode of the new season.
Bravo!
He's so good. Not just Jerry, but he's also the voice of Cyril Figgis in Archer, which is probably my second favorite character on the show after Krieger. So Parnell is the voice of one of the best characters on what I consider the two funniest animated sitcoms in history. Plus he was in the Cowbell skit on SNL... Quite a career.
@@snerdterguson Can't go without mentioning the legendary Lonely Island video, which is what introduced my to Chris.
"Yo it's Lazy Sunday, wake up in the late afternoon.
Call Parnell just to see how he's doin'."
This should have been the first episode, i loved it!
Jerrick looks like Zaphod Beeblebrox from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
This Memory Rick is the guy from Phoenix Person's mind I think two seasons ago. He ended up living in Real Rick's mind since then. And now he's stuck in Jerry. I think that was a brilliant bit of continuity.
much better than ep 1
Yes and thank God I'm so tired of people saying I'm jumping on the hate wagon just because I didn't like the first episode. We can love Rick and Morty without loving every episode, but I really like this one
Ep1 started out solid, then quickly got boring when Hugh Jackman was introduced 😅
Learned more “lore” about the depth of Rick’s character, but it felt like a filler.
I completely forgot about the voice change and didnt notice it in either episode until you guys mentioned it
Has anyone kept tabs on how many Ricks and Mortys there are? Because just like how we have an extra memory of Rick in Jerry, we also have Morty in that episode where he is in a virtual word and he is everyone from Season 6.
To Eric, that song is by The White Stripes
Hearing you guys reference Ben 10 in non-Ben 10 related reactions brings me immense joy lmao
9:25 the note joke was the funniest part of the whole episode
Rick shoots his Jerry self because he got so overwhelmed by Jerry's natural level of depression and anxiety that his only recourse was 🧠💥🔫
Memory Rick is the Rick that our Rick teamed up with when he was infiltrating Bird Person's mind a few seasons back. He then stowed away in Rick's mind when he disconnected from Bird Person.
I really really wanted to see him save the day in this episode. maybe a later episode will show the scene?
I legit thought conan's podcast was playing in the background somewhere in my room when the song came up.
The new voices are fine to me. I often forget that they were changed to begin with.
So far this season is 2 for 2 on good episodes. I hope this trend continues.
i saw it as jerry know so much he didnt want to live anymore
3:35 » Rick as Jerry couldn't even walk straight, got so paranoid he killed himself, roflmao 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Memory Rick is from Bird Person's memory, from the episode where Rick went into his mind to save him
Another slow paced, goofy episode. I'm loving it. Now they just need to start back into their multi-verse adventures.
Morty was definitely a lot more noticeable in this one and actually kinda bugged me a little bit but overall the episode was awesome
My first thought about Rick-in-Jerry offing himself immediately was of the horrible reason that the Florida cat can talk. Rick nearly insta-offed himself, and Jerry had a vomity breakdown, so the combination of their two separate perspectives on that one idea/event was too much for the smarter combination to handle. Plausible?
9:50 my reaction exactly lol
Y’all are literally how I’ve been finding out new episodes are out. When do they come out? Sunday?
Rick memory is the same Rick memory from season 5 he still survived
Why did y’all change y’all’s Poll rules?? I can’t reply to the poll
the song is 'The White Stripes - I can tell that we are gonna be friends'. That full album is pretty good
Didn't know this episode was out
And to this, I say... Welcome back, Rick and Morty.
I watched this one while high and boy, having to break it down was hard but their both 'Jerrick' technically but if you want it in the simple way, Rick is in Jerry's body with his brain (you can say soul if you want), and Jerry's soul is in Rick's body with his brain giving him the intellect he wanted. But the broken part is that it's still Rick in Jerry's body, they both have the intellect of RIck but 'normalness' and other aspects of Jerry.
Hope this helps anyone like me who's watching these now but is/was super confused.
"You're a half Jerry!" LMAO
My friend Laurel thinks Rick sounds the same but Morty sounds different, while my friend Yanny thinks Morty sounds the same but Rick sounds different. Weird.
Cabbage guy from basingse in avatar the last air bender😂😂😂
Did they completely forget all the memory mechanics we learned from Birdperson’s brain? Not to mention Memory Rick himself?
I think the reason rick shot himself was because his mind always led to suicidal thoughts in hard times. He normally can't help but survive.
Jerry's brain, on the other hand, did not have the strength or intelligence to "naturally survive," making rick instantly succumb to his dark thoughts.
This episode was so much better, really enjoyed it.
Rick & Morty had their Tuvix episode.
That song was in Napoleon dynamite
Jerrickys voice, this what it would be like if they had the potara hahaha
9:30 Is that the cruise ship from Fifth Element?
You've probably seen the body swap episode of COMMUNITY season 4. In the Inside the Episode Dan Harmon said he initially didnt want to do a body swap episode of Rick & Morty. So he would have never done one of Community if he had been showrunner on season 4! Ironically I think its the best episode that season due to it being written by Jim Rash(Dean Pelton).
2 seconds of being Jerry and he unalived himself! Great episode
nice to see SOMEBODY get "the howard dean scream" in the age of rump and branden
Oh come on, the Blues Brothers _has_ to be the best SNL skit turned movie _ever!_
I hated lookin at their cone heads when I was younger freaked me out
10:28 Eric shows his dominance
Season 7 is pure genius
So much better than the first episode😂and yeah, the new voices are growing on me
I'd love to see your reaction to what we do in the shadows
this episode was so much better than the first one im so glad
The reason the Rick/Jerry shot himself in the beginning is because their brains were already mixed. Jerry's fear and Rick's anger caused them to shoot themselves. When the robot scans the blood splatter from the body the brains are already mixed.
Morty had a very small role in the last episode and even then he sounded perfect. You can hear Rick’s voice is different, but Morty and Mr. Poopy’s voice surprised me the most.
Random Theory: Rick killed himself in Jerry's body because HE (rick) retained the memories of what the cat did and the knowledge of how truly fucked up it was but not the level of intelligence to process it and live with it. It's like that memory was re-awakened to a being. (Cat memory + Jerry's intelligence + Rick's nihilism) == Instant Deleting Yourself
I really liked this episode as a character study, it didn't make me laugh a lot but it was a fun episode!
Coneheads is a classic !!!!!
surprised no one called the gravity fall reference with random glass being broke
Yay more Morty
Rick killed himself immediately in Jerry's mind because he couldn't deal with Jerry's anxiety and lack of critical thinking abilities lol. Jerry won the argument before the title sequence.
Notice how Jerry in Rick's body even manages to stay calm and try to assess the situation with his newfound mental strength, but didn't understand his body at all.
I dont agree, i think in general it's supposed to be a joke. The joke being jerry having a very shitty body, way of thinking, trauma, that got rick into killing himself than living in such a shity way
When rick's original body was better equipped for life
Jerry is so dumb that a memory version of Gene became self aware inside his mind.
I think this fits really well also since Jerry's VA is now probably one of the most talented guys on the show, Would love more Badass Jerry, Anytime him or Morty get their shit together the show becomes way better.
Littery diden't know it was new voice actor for Rick and Morty xD But now when you say it I notice it on Rick as hell xD WHY DID YOU TELL ME
you guys straightup forgot about memory rick from the birdperson episode huh
This is one of the funniest rick and morty episodes in a while. Had me bust out laughing multiple times 😂😂
This is basically like if Gogeta and Vegito hung out
Jerricky kinda reminds me of the centaur from Fallout New Vegas
It's like a fusion like in dragon balls, except this time it's forced, imagine that Rick and Jerry are Goku and Vegeta but after Rick shot himself they are now Vegetto and Gogeta (They are the same person but they have different names because of the shape in how they fuse), which in other words would be Jerricky but one in Rick's body and the other inside Jerry's body.
I anyone else hearing this humming?
🤓um actually, memory rick originates in the mind of bird person. It is his memory of young rick and it went into ricks mind when he turned phoenix person back into bird person
This episode was *really* fun. Leagues better than the opener for this season. Not to say that I didn't like the opener, just that it feels as if it should have been in the 7x3 or 7x5 sorta spot.
Exactly! It was a good episode, it just didn’t make any sense for it to be the premiere.
The "song?" The White Stripes.
Could you guys consider creating a reaction tribute to the late and amazing Kevin Conroy? He passed away last November, and was the sole reason I got into acting. I have a voice acting background and there are some preconceived notions that it's not as demanding as regular acting; but the vocal training itself and perfecting the craft may take more time than any acting school. l feel like he's a bit underrated as Batman (ditto Mark Hamill as Joker) and even non existent in the conversation. PS. You almost saw me as Leon in those new Resident Evil games :)
You....think that two of the most famous voices ever done by two of the great titans of the field are...underrated? I don't think you quite know what that word means.
@@smashbrandiscootch719 Hi, I'm glad you don't think that way. Over the years I've seen countless top ten vidoes about voice acting in video games etc or about the best Batman films and they were not mentioned. But it is why I said 'I fell like...', it's only my bitter opinion :)
@@omarbautista541 I will. I'm thinking about using the best scenes from Arkham games etc but I don't have the reach as other ppl on YT have.
@@smashbrandiscootch719In the context of _acting in general_ then.......yeah, voice actors can be well known in their bubble but not to people in general.

@@Jay-Voorhees lol, maybe an unaware foreigner. thanks for the advise! whew!
Bro has premier protein facing away smh
I like to think that Jerry killing himself was due to him gaining ricks understanding of their multiverse. The information was just too much to handle, the meaningless of infinite realities got to him and he inherited ricks nihilism, leading him to just end himself on the spot cause in his mind nothing he does from that point on matters. Basically had to go through ricks depression through seasons 1-6 and everything before that with rick prime in the span of like 30 seconds 😂
That was Rick in Jerry's body who killed himself. Apparently, Rick's consciousness couldn't handle being stuck in Jerry's simple brain, so he killed himself.
Watch "The ConeHead" movie (its funny)😅
Why were so many people confused? Did they only watch the cold open? They explain multiple times they’re a combination of the two.
Starts at 2:24
oh. A fellow Conan needs a friend enjoyer!
Ngl I'm getting used to these new VAs for Rick and Morty
It’s definitely not as bad as I thought it be, Morty sounds identical to me and Rick is just slightly off, like less raspy
I’ve already gotten used to it. For most of the episode I completely forgot about the new VAs.
I still (I will _foreeeevur_ ) maintain that if people hadn't already learned/been told their were new actors, they wouldn't have noticed.
It’s really interesting that Rick abandoned his war torn memory of himself stuck inside Jerry’s dumb memory. Seems intentional.
I personally enjoyed Coneheads
