    I have worked/lived in National Parks my entire life. I am now retired and live at the North entrance to Yellowstone National Park. A few years back I was working front desk at a resort in Yellowstone and had just finished checking in a man and handing him the key to his room. The very last thing I would tell everyone I checked in is, “Stay away from the wildlife….the animals here can kill you” in no uncertain terms. Well, it wasn’t 5 minutes later when I looked out the window and noticed that very same man was now standing within ten feet of a huge bull elk taking pictures and this was right in the middle of the rut. The elk eventually got tired of the man standing there with his camera (and slowly getting closer and closer), and eventually charged him. Lucky for the man, there was a telephone pole nearby that he was able to run behind. The man and the elk were playing “ring around the rosie” running around that telephone pole, when I mentioned what was going on outside to my supervisor. To this day, I’ll never forget what she told me. She said “It’s amazing the patience these animals have with tourons. But after you have worked here for a while, you begin to root for the animals” and walked away. I have been rooting for the animals ever since! 😁

      Thank you for your comment Super_Chief. The wildlife in Yellowstone NP seem very tolerant of the thousands of visitors daily, when idiots invade their space they can retaliate, bison know they can kill a person in a nano second…NP’s are not zoos, depending on people to feed them, they are wildlife that found a place of protection. I thought it was pretty well-known that the water at Disney has both brain-eating bacteria and alligators, and there are signs all over the place telling you about them, but then they went ahead and let the bite-sized kid play in the water. Then people tried to defend it like "the sign says no swimming, not no wading!" THE SIGN SAYS THERE'S F**KING GATORS. The gator doesn't care about your technicality. Good job on loopholing yourself into a dead kid.

Then my weekly dose of Joey B reminds me that there's a lot more than one.

      @followtheboat Рік тому

      @@franfenderjazz this is a good point and one that we observe frequently in our travels. Our "cruising" is different as we live on our sailboat and travel slowly. Our boat is our home. If we find a place we like, we stay and try and get under the skin of the culture, but then we're a different kind of tourist. If you only have two weeks in a new location, that sensory overload motivation is inevitable, unless you're just looking for two weeks on a beach, doing nothing but chilling (nothing wrong with that). Cruiseship travel is the worst kind. Pollution on a massive scale, mass exodus in a port for a few days, little money spent ashore except in tourist shops, and, as we see in this video, people desperate to get that shot before they move on. The locals must look on in despair and bemusement.

These animals look at you and think, “well if this tiny thing is going to try and attack me I better tell it off!” The best thing to do when you see a wild animal that doesn’t appear to be a predator, you walk calmly away and try to not make much eye contact with it, as an indicator that you’re not going to prey on it?

      @@Bushman9TDS is real. It's in the DSM-V . As a clinician I suggest you look at it and see if you have any of the symptoms. I'm taking a professional guess and say you have a chronic and debilitating case of TDS. There is treatment available. I hope you seek help before you get into the "irreversible damage" group.

      It was okay she employed the "run and fall on the ground" defense. Imagine being on the ground with a mature bison keeping you there. They got nothin' else to do but gore you from time to time until you're dead.
