about 20 years ago staying at a caravan park in Christchurch Dorset and we sat on a bench by the river and watched 2 kingfishers flying up and down the river - then amazingly a fox came out of the long grass and spent a couple of minutes sat about 2 feet away watching what we were watching before moving on - it was such a moving moment for me such a "meh it happens " for the kids lol
Good afternoon, I follow you and some more on narrow boats from here in America. I really do enjoy the time you have traveling on the canals. I have often thought if I could come over and buy a boat, I would name her Maggie May, in memory of my little beagle. She is more than just my pet, my wife and I have raised her as a puppy. She is almost 2 years old now, and I know I would have to leave her behind. Well to my surprise a boat went by you and her name was Maggie May. I thought that was awesome. Have a great day.
Had a stressful day and to my delight your vlog popped up in my UA-cam feed. Thank you so much. I have never seen a Kingfisher in person. I absolutely love them. And that look on your face made my day too! Thank you for sharing your narrow boat adventures. ❤❤❤
Great vlog, your so lucky seeing a Kingfisher I'm 75 and the last time I saw one I was about 10, Hope you got your air filter sorted between you and Jeff off Gladys Aintree boats aren't looking great, Take care Happy cruising. 😊
Another lovely video. So glad you were able to get the kingfisher on camera to share. I know the rain is a pain when you are cruising, but I would find it cozy and a good day to snuggle in and read. What a wonderful trip....thanks for sharing.
We had a kingfisher land on the tiller of NB Sea Glass in our marina. It had been fishing and had a fairly large silver fish in its beak. It stayed ages, went away then came back. I got pictures of it through the stern door windows. They are actually quite large close up, much larger than they appear darting around. As you say, they are magical to see and spotting one is still rare, even in the Midlands xx
Beautiful birds the Kingfisher, quite common in New Zealand. The narrow boat Waka Huia must have New Zealand connections, Waka Huia is a narrow carved box for treasured personal items. Waka = boat, vehicle or container Huia is a sacred extinct native bird, the feathers are very treasured. Maori, are indigenous to New Zealand
What a relaxing and lovely trip with you. Seeing the kingfisher was such an amazing thrill - especially perched like that. I’ve only ever seen one as a flash of orange and blue speeding by.
Cosy! Especially with the rain teeming down. And with luck the water ends up in the canal reservoirs. Perhaps a bit more rain to ensure canals are always in water next year. And with enough to flood the new restoration projects as well as. Always look on the bright side!
Thank you for taking me on Holiday for 10 minutes and 25 seconds. Very Enjoyable! And your remark about smokey chimney's making you think about the people inside being cozy is so nice on so many levels! You are a really beautiful person.
The only time I saw a kingfisher, was crossing a bridge over the River Chelmer, in Chelmsford in Essex when I used to work there. I had gone for a lunchtime walk, and stopped to look at the river for a while, when I saw this really fast-moving small blue blur, which flew under the bridge (and under me!) I assumed it was a kingfisher - so I have seen one, but not as stationary as your one! 😍
i've seen loads of kingfishers whilst paddleboarding on rivers in East anglia- but never caught one on camera! fast little things. I never tire of seeing them though
You mean the pollution, then? 😂😂😂 Wood burners not a very good idea unless they're DEFRA approved with tertiary burn mode. A multi fuel stove is a much better bet, say a Morso Squirrel 1410. Provided you burn approved smokeless fuel briquettes you'll be fine if you are in smoke controlled areas. That said some claim narrowboats are exempt ... but suggest a natter with the Local Authority before you light up. The Local Authority is perfectly willing to issue notices and if necessary see you in Court. Nobody needs that bother.
@@timpaszkiewicz7169 Not wood stoves but multi fuel stoves. Google can explain the difference. You can burn wood in both types of stove, provided it is hardwood and moisture content less than 20%. Wood burners not too special at burning at burning smokeless briquettes.

I am glad that you seem to be enjoying your Narrowboat. I know you had some early disappointments, but it is good that the joy is coming to you.

Enjoyed that. Did the Kingfisher show off it's dive bombing into the water skills? That's another beautiful thing to see from the wee wonders!

Nice vlog. You have a happy place. 😊
Has the builder of the boat fixed everything yet.🙏🇦🇺👍
That was very nice ! Glad you enjoyed your cruise !
Your Kingfishers have a slightly different look than ours in Alaska but the same feel to their flight. Always lovely!
Thanks Lorna, I enjoyed that cruise too. Take care.

That property you passed would have looked great painted pink! How is your boat now after all the problems?😊
Watching this gives me a zen feeling :)
Just love your canalside dream homes...
I used to see a kingfisher everyday driving home from work. He was always in the same place, resting on the highwire near a rice canal.

@t1n4444 how do you heat your house. Wood stoves are better then any other way.
