"I have lived with pain for so long, Mr. West, that I no longer feel it."
This one line summed up Dr. Loveless's character. Combining the excellent work, with the character, by writers, director, and Dunn, up to this point, this one line shows all Dr. Loveless's feelings of betrayal by the world around him and, simultaneously, shows he is irredeemable. And with this one line made Dr. Loveless one of my all time favorite villains.

I still remember Dunnes' performance in star trek. Not only iconic due to the "kiss" but Michael's heart warming portrayal of the persecuted and discriminated individual, who ultimately showed his abusers how petty and worthless they were. Bravo!

I will never forget Dunn guesting in an episode of another series, the name of which escapes me now. In the episode he was ridiculed for being a dwarf, the town outcast, until one of the children of the town fell into a well and he was the only one small enough, strong enough and brave enough to be lowered down to pull him out. The story (triggering my claustrophobia) and Dunn's performance left a lasting impression to this day.

While the other villians only appeared in one episode they usually end up dead or in prison. Loveless, on the other hand usually escapes from West only to cross paths again in another episode.

I was never big on westerns either. WWW was about all I watched in that genre. I did go nuts when the ad for Valley of Gwangi was shown on tv in 68 or 69. Saw it at the drive in like so many movies in the summer back then. I did have a run in with a stage coach robber that summer at a theme park called Frontier Town in the Adirondack mountains in NY. The boring stage coach ride came to an abrupt stop. I heard loud yelling and then some cowboy with his kerchief over his lower face stuck his face in the stage coach window and proceeded to pull his guns so I drew mine. But instead of hearing caps popping he got my metal cap gun pistol whipped across his nose. Maybe that was all he needed to be rehabilitated.

@@jdsundstrom Brisco County Jr. was a fine series with great potential (both for action and comedy.) It also contained episodes where devices were employed long before they were perfected. It also suffered the fate of many series which deviated from a running norm...the suits killed them, either because they misunderstood the premise, were unwilling to allow them to remain in production long enough to build a following or just didn't feel the "different" concept could ever make money. They killed the original Star Trek and Firefly even tho those series were building roaring fanbases. The writers had vision but the suits could only see bottom lines.

When Mary wrote this novel (in 1817) on a group dare to see who produced the scariest story among a group of writers, including Percy Shelley and Lord Byron, her peers, she TOTALLY amazed them. Look up the story, it's worth learning about this and Mary herself, she was 21 when she wrote it. He was like the first dwarf I ever seen in my life on TV, and the thing about him was that his charisma made him taller than he was because after a while you forget you looking at dwarf. Dunn was the most memorable of the many opponents faced by West & Gordon, Inc. during the Wild Wild West. On a general note, those who disparage the series might take pause and consider just how ahead of its time the concepts presented could be. Today one of the more interesting genres in fiction and gaming is "Steampunk." Now think back on many of the WWW's episodes could fit right into that concept...especially those conceived by Dr. Loveless. Jim and Artemus' tricked out train and armaments are surely close enough to Steampunk to qualify. At least half of the episodes filmed contain or are based upon the use of weapons or items which currently exist or have existed but far in the future of the setting of the series.
