The vibe I got from the Peña Gordon fight was financially driven for Peña and a cheeky way of getting Gordon to have the most medals without doing the brackets.
CJI had it all. The names, the excitement, comedy, drama, great production, a good scoring system that is easier for new people to understand, a unique competition ring, the prize money, and so much more. ADCC as a whole needs to re evaluate their approach to virtually everything. Gordon is a dork. He's the best No-Gi grappler without a doubt, which sucks because hes is so unlikeable and cringy. Like or hate Craig, he just changed the landscape of BJJ forever.
Like him or not. I met him on Friday after the face offs and he took the time to take a pic with me and my daughter. So did Meregali and they were pleasant.
Gordon essentially did address the CJI callout. At the end he suggested that CJI was a bunch of ungrateful phony’s and that if “you’re not with us then fuck off”. Basically confirms everything that CJI was about and trying to prove. ADCC has become a good ol boys club. Gordon technically ignored the callout which I expected him to do. I also don’t expect Gordon to fight Kaynan. I think he’s going to pull out last month.
Cji is changing the game with its tournament. They need to change a few things, but whatever, it's their first one. ADCC is boring and will never make casual fans become regular fans like MMA. Cji, on the other hand, gives you action, and it will make people come back for more. I would love to see a once-a-month from them, but not in tournament style. Just matches. That way, casual fans will see these athletes more and more, getting them excited to see a tournament-style.
@@frankyturrizo4240 Same. As a die hard UFC fan for a long time, We tried watching UFC and CJI day 2 going back and fourth but ended up spending way more time on the CJI stuff.
@SR20FTW for years, especially before the McGregor/Rousey era, I used to watch prelims and all but I got burned out and now I just watch the big fights
CJI will also have the advantage of running next year and if successful again, every year after that. Like 2025 can have ALL the top tier talent since there’s no adcc.
this is not even debatable. good people finally won, adcc is run by weasel and people dont know how to do it their stream service s simply terrible and thats just one example. they give away gold medals now gordon got two super fights and collected two golds i was like are you fk serious? lololol ADCC has turned into a buddy-buddy business, LOL. It's all about rewarding each other. So many fights were rigged; it was obvious they favored certain fighters and teams.
ADCC had way more exciting matches and a lot of finishes and upsets it was exciting to watch. CJ I was good but had a lot of boring matches unfortunately the wall was fun though. Overall it's a win for jiu-jitsu
After watching cji I counldn't stand adcc, it was so freaking boring and the rules are just horrible... First minutes before the points come in are super boring, people lost matches because of some random negative point and the constant referee interactions made it so boring.
I was more impressed with Dante Leon submitting Mica and beating Giancarlo to take third in the Absolute he is someone who will face anyone considering he beat Bones at Heavyweight at No Gi pans and was the only person Kaynan didn’t submit.
ADCC was a bit obnoxious, between Wagner and Cyborg making it deep into the brackets without many points or subs, the black belts on no-gi competitors, and the not-so-superfights. Adele was a real highlight, however, and I enjoyed her Ffion callout.
Was J Rod vs Bodini a BTeam vs New Wave match ? Who else was there from those teams? I think Taza, Crelingston and Damien Anderson were there . IDK what team Taza is on ... I only know those 2 teams ... thanks to anyone that answers
Here’s the thing with Nicky’s Gordon call out. Gordon has beaten him several times already so there really isn’t any reason for Gordon to do another match with him, even for a million. But let’s be real, watching both of their performances this weekend, I truly believe Nicky Rod would destroy Gordon if they fought again. I get Gordon has stomach issues and isn’t at full abilities, but based on this weekend, Nicky wipes the floor with Gordon and I think he knows that.
I wanted last ADCC from my prospective way subscribe for Flo when in two days or so you will get it free. As for both BJJ as sport it hard to watch or follow with camera Flo is not doing or good job in that maybe go for ADX root and have cages with full surrounding camera to have full view of the action, ADX uses similar change as UFC . But for future as Craig stated CJI is runner like none profit, will it continue going on with donations and patrons. Only time will tell.
CJI was a fun tournament to watch. However, you cannot have the number of high level athletes competing like ADCC's. Are you going to pay all the athletes $10,000? Not a chance. And, although you will increase viewership, you'll also have idiots that have no idea what jiu jitsu actually is dictating fights - people will want to see certain fights because they hate this guy and like that guy. It'll turn into trash talking assholes getting paid big bucks not the actually superstar athletes. Look at the UFC - Chael Sonnen was a good fighter, but was never number 2 in the world. Yet, because he talked serious trash, he got a shot at the title. A better example is Pat Downey who has done ZERO in the world of jiu jitsu calling out Gordon Ryan after humiliating has-been Luke Rockhold. I don't want BJJ to turn into boxing, UFC, WWE where trash talking morons collect the big check. With the 80+ kg bracket, not really shocking that Nicky Rod (Craig's pal and gym partner) won $1million. PS - Gordon Ryan, although arguably an asshole himself, is the best no gi champion ever, ever. Nicky Rod would have little chance of beating him if Gordon is 100%. Frankly, I hope Gordon Ryan takes his money.
You seem to be implying that the tournament was rigged in Nicky Rod's favor. I'd like to know how that would be given that he won with four straight submissions.
I hope he tries! But guess what he's type of champion you dont want in ufc or any other org! The champ that ducks the fights he's afraid, and arranges the fights he know he can win. Just like his buddy Jon Jones. The kind of champ that fight once a year and barely wins. Gordon was the best, now he barely can even fight, his time is gone!

I've watched a lot of mma and some boxing . CJI day 2 was the best event I've seen

Cji is the new standard. Most adcc matches would have been called for stalling if they were under cji rules.

i dont hate the ADCC event, I hate the promotion and the production. Make it free on UA-cam and ill watch every match live.
flo is a problem, and so is that ego maniac running adcc
Even after taking so much money adcc is doing a sloppy job! CJI was free and was even better production
Couldn't agree more
ADCC should adopt the cji format.
Saw the thumbnail and I said "hey it's that jiu jitsu guy"

Belts in no gi is awful

If they both keep juicing to the gills, Kaynan isn't big enough to give Gordon problems. Your hot take is dismissed with extreme prejudice.
