All the 'tactics' we are taught, came from use of weapons over the centuries. Watching the 'pros' is always good, but there's no replacing actual using your gun.
There is no “right way” or “wrong way” to do anything. There are only different techniques to accomplish the task. What works for me may not be the most effective way for you.

Some things do require a little factual care though. Like foot placement. The Ronin instructor is very clear in explaining effective Foot placement. A line in the dirt, 1 foot in front of it one foot behind it.
That first day I came to work and Bill put me on the range for some “discovery learning time” he didn’t tell me the way, only gave me other ways. I knew he would be one of the greatest instructors I would ever meet.
I’m an Olympic weightlifting coach. I always encourage my lifters to experiment with technique to see what works. This instructors approach is identical to my philosophy. I love this guy. He’s a great instructor.

Pretty good stuff thanks James. I think there's a downside to holding way out on the end of the barrel in that C-clamp thing. The father out you hold the rifle, yes you can swing it faster, but it's harder to hold up steady. I prefer John Lovell's suggestion to hold it more of in a mid point between mag well and end of barrel. For me rifles are a lot harder to hold steady than swing side to side. Lot of people just sit at the bench too at the range, and don't get much practice shooting off handed. I've been trying to work on this more myself.
Next item needed, a cut off plate carrier to match his shorts, elbow protectors, and knee protectors. Nice video, may consider this when the ammo comes back around.
Most I've seen, is steel case.. Can't be reloaded, and haven't seen ALOT of 5.56. Or 223... I hit Wal-Mart for. 2 case's of 5.56 when they decided to stop with all fire arm's,, in my state. So 11 month's later, I haven't went looking, ALOT, there's probably some out there.. It's gonna be expensive..

Carried it every work day. Now retired still my best gun …shoot lots more now that I have time. Bought Noveski grad gun but DD is lighter..

This is truly a great drill, it's based squarely on physics the principles of fulcrum, not everyone body is the same so a stance that works for one particular person may not work very well for another by using the principles of physics fulcrum each person can use those principles to come up with a stance that works for them, this is truly a great video !!!
Awesome tips, bring shoulder and torso forward, helped me get a better cheek weld without lowering my head to uncomfortable position. Get video, still practicing.

Thanks this has been the MOST INFORMATIVE Video on handling an AR. I have seen numerous Iraq & Afghanistan combat videos where the AR is so high to very little is in the shoulder pocket.

I know what you're saying, but I think the point of the drill is to minimize rifle movement from recoil. To magnify the drill, they could go the other way and use 7.62mm instead of .22cal.

Interesting how some instructors advocate putting the stock in the shoulder pocket, while others advocate bringing the dot to your eye and having the bottom of the stock making minimal contact on the shoulder .. I've learned that in a tactical situation the latter method would be more benficial for a CQB situation
I've noticed that if I aim (no pun intended) to raise the rifle to my eye line (as opposed to hunching down to look through the sight), the top of the butt of the rifle sits slightly above my shoulder. Many instructors say have the butt positioned securely and completely in the shoulder pocket, but this invariably requires me to hunch. What gives!? 🤬🤷🏽♂️
Hop is the Everyman, the guy who doesn't have sponsored ammo, who doesn't have tons of fancy gear because he has to buy it himself and use it the few days a month he isn't at work. We are all Hop.

I teach this way. Every person is different, size wise and preference wise. strength etc. I give options and suggest my students try them all and then some. Find out what WORKS best for them. Then use that. Practice that way. What ever it is.

That's one of the better basic breakdowns I've seen. I love seeing drills designed for practical application of the weapon.
