Damn shame they didn't release a version with Audio Units for the iPad2. This looks like its a pretty cool add on. And to all the negative commentators...go away, no one cares about your opinion. These guys provide a really cool service for free and usually whether they are sick or not. Rock on Sound Test Room!
iSEM works great on my iPad Pro 12.9, with both GarageBand, Auria Pro, cubasis 2.0 and all you can throw at it. Wonderful synth. A classic. I hope more audio units will come, it's been slow coming...
Was already the best value for money music app, now with AU its goes to another level. If its working properly though. Down side its you need the latest ipad models.. Once again nice thx for the tutorial.
I used to buy apps for my music hobby and just for fun. I really enjoyed making music and playing. Since iOS8, I've slowly stopped buying apps because 50% of the time they don't work. Now, it's a chore and a waste of money. I can't work productively if I'm forced to update my working apps/OS for non working ones.
AU are only meant to sync apps and devices afaik. So it makes sense that GarageBand cannot render iSEM audio, it's a separate app. I think you would need to capture iSEM as InterApp audio or over Audiobus. Weird that they include this feature, and not core MIDI. Either way this is a super cool new feature. I'd have to think they will be adding 'render to audio' in an update though.
Looks like this part of the update is a bit of a mess at present, which is a real shame. Being able to use other apps as audio units is really exciting, so I hope these issues can be fixed asap, as well as being able to use more apps as audio units.
If you merge the isem tracks to themselves and turn them into waves, I bet they will show up. Not saying merge them together, merge them as single track. This is something I do all the time in GarageBand for a verity of reasons. When merging the track only select each isem one at a time. Merging only they single track to itself.
1. Duplicate the track/channel or make a new one, leave it blank, I usually just duplicate. 2. Convert the MIDI to Audio, via the “Merge Tracks” function, in the menu that appears when you tap on the particular channel you wish to convert. 3. Select the MIDI track/channel you wish to turn into Audio and the new empty track 4. Hit done This is my universal approach as I find MIDI slows things down and can cause weird things like this to happen, especially MIDI that involves another app or inter-app stuff within GB
If you use Audiobus you end up with an audio track in GarageBand - i.e. a wave track that you can slice, move etc but can't amend individual notes. If you use an audio unit, you will get a piano roll instead, so you can edit individual notes, use quantisation etc.
Joe Barone Call me crazy, but I kinda doubt you know what God wants. Do you really think you should be saying you know what God wants when your talking about killing others? What do you think the real God would think about your comnents? Your not setting a good example. Is this who you really are? I know your better then this Joe...
Gram Baul you won't be able to use some of the newer features with your iPad 4, and you will need the latest iOS Update too, I'm not sure what will work and what wont work with a 4, sorry I can't be more helpful
You sound really like Neil from Art Attack, not just the accent I mean really.... Thanks for the vid, you don't have a cubase video guide you've made do you? Either cubase or cubasis I've got all the gear want to record my guitar, bass etc and I've also got a Novation impulse 49 which I haven't. Clue how to use or get to make drum beats etc lot of money doing the sqr root of fa at the mo. Thanks again
+thesoundtestroom thank you buddy, I saw from the other comments made about your health situation. I do wish you the best with your treatment and recovery. God Bless ya
+periurban You won't see the Audio Units option unless you have an app on your iPad that acts as an audio unit for Garageband to interface with. Currently iSEM is the only one.
I know this is a free service, but it would be nice if the presenter prepared at least a little. There are other free video series out there with are done very professionally.
Not a particularly mature response, and with 16% of this video's ratings being a 'thumbs-down', maybe take on a bit of constructive criticism positively. Most of your videos are excellent, but it's difficult to argue with antkn33 that this one seems poorly rehearsed. Though I still left a thumbs-up.
Hey Doug, got some similar problems with iSEM and GarageBand. I will contact the developer of iSEM so he can check it maybe or it's an Garageband Problem
Sorry, there's more, please also remember that you need an Audio Unit compatible host app like Cubasis, Garageband, AUM etc to run audio Units but I'm guessing you already have GB so that will be cool

Did you get loops to work on your ipad2?
you can use Tabletop with GarageBand. Also Retronyms impc and impc Pro are compatible with GarageBand. There is always a work around. Always.

Uh I think you meant to say for the latest or current “IOS” like “IOS11” and it has the best upgrades even for older IPads from years ago.

I've got this app and I didn't have any of the issues you named after exporting a track from garageband to audio, it works correctly and no crashes!

Isem does have transport controls.
+periurban Looks like you got some apps goin on in your ipad. I wonder if you have any ios 9 problems with your music apps.
Gregory Voutsinas Haven't noticed any recently.

What about if you merge all the tracks then open in audio share

Brian Shepper grammar.....
What about saving it first and then exporting it to Audishare
What's the difference between an audio unit and the inter-app audio? Seems the same but slightly more convenient maybe?

Nexus should do this too
My iPad is probably an iPad 2 and my GarageBand doesn't have the new features. How can I get them
Bliivatrunner ' Get an iPad that supports the latest iOS update. You can't get the new features without updating your iPad first.
Newbie question. Can someone tell me what are the main benefits of using AU in Garageband over using Audiobus? Thanks

+Gnome Foam Awesome, thanks!
No problem, I'll get right on it. Is ham and cheese ok, or do you want something more exotic?

do audio unit fx (in addition to instruments) also work in GB ios and how? In the video you use inter app audio
Not yet, only AU Instruments can be used in GarageBand
Can you actually use this to create tracks for live shows? is the quality good enought for large speakers?

+periurban You won't see the Audio Units option unless you have an app on your iPad that acts as an audio unit for Garageband to interface with. Currently iSEM is the only one.
It's definitely available on iPad 4.
Would this work for iphone
paymeeb I think so but you need to go to the App Store link and read the compatibility information, it also requires iOS 10.2 for all the extra stuff
Mine crashes daily :-(
I can't fond audio units...
