  • First video of this new channel.
    I took delivery of my Circuit Pack GR Yaris about a week ago, and today I was off to a fun b-road drive.
    Still much to improve on the camera positioning - and the driving as well needs lots of refinement (and a bit less traffic). Much more to come: I plan on taking it to the track and discovering its limits.
    Shot on GoPro Hero 9 Black and a cheap headband.

    I waited 1000km before I passed the 4000rpm because new cars still need a run in.

      Well I considered that, but I work at a Toyota dealership and our mechanics suggested that in reality they ship the cars ready to drive hard. The only thing to do is to let it warm up properly

      @@jpdw7543 Cars today are manufactured with machined "pre worn" cylinder liners, by doing that they manage to reduce the gaps between components and use thinner oils, that's why you see cars with 0W... oils nowdays. Due to this manufacturing techniques and tolerances there's no real break in to do, it's not like it used to be, where the cylinder walls had rough finishes that had to be warn to achieve a good seal, that's why cars used to come with break in oils from the factory. Now it's common to see cars shipping with the same oil that's recomended for normal use.

      Thanks for your reply. You are right but not completely (in my opinion)
      Cylinder liners and piston rings are one of the most important but are never 100% tight after machining, even how good these cross grinding machines and pistons are these days. (we represent www.sunnen.com for 60 years). You need to give the piston rings time to settle it to the cylinder surfaces and shape. On top there are many many other parts that deserve attention when they are new. Clutch plate against the flywheel, brake pad against the disc, every gear in your transmission and LS differentials, etc....
      Never has a subject been spoken and written so much as break-in a combustion engine. And it is good that everyone has their own opinion on this.
      If we have to pick "one" action to be careful about with a new car; which would you choose?
      Thanks!

      Damn. Rather travel 800km in a day intestate somewhere to break it in my. Hate breaking in engines in stop start traffic.

    Su thingiverse c'è un supporto per gopro da stampare e mettere attaccato al poggiatesta del passeggero. Lo stamperò in settimana ma dal disegno sembra ben fatto ed è su misura per la GR.

      Thank you! The first one will be for sure an exhaust. The car sounds really tame from the outside, that's probably the only downside

    Should I trade my v8 mustang for the Yaris ?

    • @engineaddict4105
      @engineaddict4105  3 роки тому +1

      Too much difference between the two! In my opinion a smaller car will make you feel much more connected to the road and the driving experience is going to be unfiltered and ultimately more fun. On the other hand, that V8...

      @@engineaddict4105 I agree with you. Is yours the track pack? They only sell the normal one without the diffs here. Not sure if I should pull the trigger

    • @engineaddict4105
      @engineaddict4105  3 роки тому

      I have the track pack, in my opinion it's the way to do it, the diffs are worth it by themselves, shame they don't import it like that in your country. I have never tried one without the pack myself, so don't take my word for it.
