Same here, my immediate thought was the same. I'm ok with this kind a things in snow but not ready for wet runs yet. Interesting what tires are on that car.
@@VidNibs I had an M2C driver pull up at the lights next to me and quizzed me about it, he wanted one too. Hopefully Toyota will realise this car’s global appeal and try and meet its demand. I must say though, the car is pure joy. It’s the best car I’ve ever had and my dream car. I’m not one for driving status symbols, I prefer the leftfield choices.
Ha! I know EXACTLY where this is... :) great driving, and a very fun road indeed. The section further down from here is fun too, but it's more difficult to find it empty...
ahaha cool story ! i think very few people know this road... i filmed the lower section too, but like you said too much traffic... this summer im gonna close the road and film it again !
@@AB-tw5hc it is definitely not a particularly popular destination, especially in the summer, when there is no snow :-) I look forward to seeing your next video. Good work with that GR!
I have one of these cars so I know how capable they are. You are a much more skilful driver than me but I can’t help thinking that there are points in this video that if you’d met someone coming the other way it could have ended very badly. Might be better to take your skills on to a track.
exactly. great skills but you are literally risking your and other peoples lives for this. this is not something that should be supported. there is no way in most corners you could have stopped or avoided a crash into other cars with that speed and a wet road. do this on a track or a closed off road at an event or something. otherwise this isnt a question if but when a fatal crash happens.
@@AB-tw5hc dude how could you know if someone comes?´ you literally could not see around the corners when a car comes in to your direction while you are in the middle of a slide, with not enough space to the side, how do you plan to stop that?
Nice driving skill! Thats a sick car in wet condition its Nice yo see how good you can drift it! There is a chip for a quick 20hp xtra if you looking to make it more exciting!
That was the best POV i saw in a long time. Probably one of the most enjoyable ever. Toyota really has made something great with the GR Yaris! This makes you feel like a rally driver! I hope i get the chance to test drive it. If you’re reading this, how is the fuel consumption? I bet its really good when you’re driving normally. Normally i don’t care but with today’s oil prices climbing, this is probably the most fun petrol powered car you can get.
Such an awesome car. Toyota must think it's the 80's/90's still, since they're hiding this car from the US. I would've bought this by now. They're doing a GR Corolla instead with the Yaris stuff but it won't be the same both handling wise, and of course looks wise. I would instantly buy this 2-door hatch, I couldn't care less about a 4-door liftback that somehow doesn't have space in it despite said layout.
As someone who's first 3 cars were RWD ('66 Mustang 289 V8, '78 Datsun 280Z, '85 Toyota Corolla GTS) and none with stability control or abs, I would have zero fear using the 30/70 torque split setting on a road like that. I think we've forgotten how to drive in recent years, but something like the GR Yaris/Corolla (for US) can bring some of that back I think, but in a way thats safer and more controllable. It may seem like a small thing to some, but a pull handbrake that decouples the rear diff? Yes plz😎
I seen thestraightpipes video on the GR corolla and they couldn't even get the back end to break out on a giant skidpad I hope it was just there user error cause I want the gr corolla and I want to be able to slide it around like this one
@@dustinmallett1703 I havent seen that segment, but I suspect sticky performance tires, dry warm pavement and a little bit of user error is to blame...especially considering the handbrake. Wait until the roads/track are cold and wet...then engage the 30/70 along with the handbrake for plenty of tail happy action. I mean sure, even having 30% torque to the front wheels could be making the car "too stable"...but it's only a matter of time before the aftermarket tuners crack the code on the adjustable torque. At very least reducing the front assist to 10% or even 0% if possible. Not sure the rear diff alone is strong enough to handle the GR Corolla being purely RWD, but I have little doubt someone will test it for us eventually.😎
Dumb question maybe, but why do you keep shifting up at 4500 rpm just to downshift immediately? Wouldn't it be better to just stay in the same gear and ride it through the full powerband?
Astonishing skills, I have this car but cannot dare to drive like this.
