- In This Video, I will be giving my honest review of the anime Fate/Zero, and ranking the characters on a tier list! This will be part of a multiple-part series where I go through as many of the Fate series until I lose my mind. I also just realized I forgot to interview Kariya but I guess it adds to my joke that everyone forgets him. My content is satire in nature and while it may sound like I disliked the anime it's mostly bad jokes. I will be talking about what makes it one of the greatest animes of all time... by insulting everything about it. Season 1 of this anime was released in 2011. There are currently only two seasons and there are so many more branches but this series has reached a conclusion. There is a manga that you can read, so I recommend reading it even though I have no idea what happens. This video contains light spoilers, so be aware if you plan on watching the anime or reading the manga. If you do happen to read this much by some miracle, I am always open to suggestions, whether new content or problems with the videos. Christopher Columbus does exist as an heroic spirit in Fate universe.
But he's a little bit TOO accurate to his real life lore as opposed to what usually what fate does.
At least they didnt press on the fact that he could've been mistaking mermaids for manatees

But frankly , Columbus is no worse than the likes of Caligula , or Ibuki Douji , or Empress Wu or Caster Gilles...so , while villainous , Columbus main crime in the franchise is to not be a husbando or a waifu
From what I remember in the LN the reason Tokiomi had a sakura was because as a child Rin got sick and they thought she wouldn't make it so they had another kid

to be fair with kiritsugu, if i got in to this holy grail war prior to watching fate, i too would assume it concedes my wish regardless of wether i know how to do it or not, i mean, if i want a freaking ferrari, i want my freaking ferrari, why do i have to know how it's made? or why would i need to order the grail to steal it from somebody else? that sounds like a underwhelming holy grail to me

By the way there was an event in Fate/grand order called Fate/zero accel order and Diarmud actually won the war in there! (was seeing you using Kariya's sprite from that event so that comed to mind naturally)

Funny thing about Tokiomi's motives. See, it doesn't come up here, but as you get more into Fate, you realize that Mages, as a whole, are shady bastards. And Tokiomi managed to have two daughters who were both born stupidly talented. He can give ONE of them the thing in his body that lets them use his family magic. The other one can't get it, and thus can't defend herself from, say, being vivisected by shady wizards to further their own fucked up research (which is LITERALLY what he's worried about). Then comes this other family that he's relatively close to, who go "Yo, we'll protect her." So he takes them up on it.
Why doesn't he tell Kariya this, you ask? Gee, I wonder why Tokiomi wouldn't be honest with the guy who's been unironically being trying to NTR his wife for years, and doesn't seem to understand that she's just not into him. Honestly, the dude probably just wanted an excuse to set him on fire, and I don't even blame him for that.
Funny story, in the Apocrypha, Sakura got adopted by Luvia's family, so instead of worms, Sakura became part of a tag team wrestling duo.
Which actually makes sense since the Tohsakas are related to the Edelfelts. Like Rin and Sakura are cousins to Luvia so it makes me wonder why Tokiomi didn't give Sakura to them in the first place?

Yeah... but F/Z implies pretty heavily, and even shows a bit, of the suffering Sakura does experience at the hands of Zouken and the Matous. Like... holy shit. She hated Tokiomi bitterly for a reason. Multiple reasons. Multiple very good (read, very bad for Sakura) reasons. Not least of which was the sexual abuse she experienced, repeatedly, at the hands of Shinji. And it was her father that sent her into that hellhole.
I... can't fault Kariya for calling Tokiomi out on that. It's heavily repeated, and reinforced, in the Nasuverse that Mages aren't human anymore: their mentality is too warped and their souls rotten. They have become something ruthless and alien to the human experience. This is ultimately why Kariya breaks away from his family, and ultimately why he returns: he still held onto his humanity. Kirei, raised to be an emotionless killer for the church, becomes drawn to Kariya for the tragedy of his experience being too human in an inhumane society like theirs.... but unlike Kariya, he ultimately rejects his humanity and embraces being a demon. He finds emotion.. just revels in the darker ones.
And for the record, I do find Kariya a cringey white-knight. Rin's mother... made her choice, and accepted it. And as you mentioned, Tokiomi was concerned for Sakura in his own way.
Just... holy shit, he made a huge mistake sending her to the Matous. Literally any other mage family would have been better if he was truly concerned for his daughter.

2. She also was dealing with 1500 years of sitting on a hill filled with the corpses of her people
3. Then when she got summoned she instantly learned her people faced genocide after Camlann.
4. She also blamed herself for Mordred, Lancelot and Gawains fate and decisions
5. Tristan telling her she couldn't understand her people was a major insecurity of hers and then found out the dude mocking her had his entire army pledge their souls and give up their places as heroic spirits because of how much they loved him.
@@robertwade2748 the first point has almost nothing to do with what I said before. It's about how she hardly let anyone judge her about how she ruled the only person who was even able to crack that shell was Shirou and it was due to the fact he had pretty much seen most of her important memories and they both share similar ideals/mindsets. And no the throne doesn't tell them anything it's the grail that gives them information about the current state of human history to have servants get quickly familiar with the current times. I'm a need a direct source for that second point. 3rd point also has nothing to do with what I said either. Her blaming herself for the fate of her knights again has nothing to do with what I said. The moment she pulled out the sword she had accepted the fact that things wont end well for her but as long as britain would prosper which it was able to after being inspired by her sacrifices. 5th point is pretty much irrelevant because we barely get to see what Saber thinks about Isk's reality marble they hardly even touch upon her opinion of it.
Christopher Colombus? we got one of those actually in fgo.
I love Rider and Waver, Ilrisviel and Illya and I would have liked to like Kiritsigi more but the part about Saber being more man than he was is oh-so-true

Well, in the Prisma Illya series Kiritsugu did the right choice, and ran away from everything with Irisviel and Illya...
And Kotomine doesn't go to the darkside and instead sells Mapu Tofu.
I believe he actually did fight in the grail war, win and then use his wish to make illya "happy" but the grail is always a monkey's paw and twists wishes when it decides to grant them.
And even then he managed to pick up shirou anyways
@@BlackHeart1216 That seems kinds unlikely to me unless he never learns of it's nature as a monkey paw. He would destroy it in that case rather than letting any wish be made like he did at the end of Zero.

Well...i think EVERYONE watched Zero for the Waver/Rider Pair....Iskandar is not called Broskandar without reason.."Go your own way,no matter how long it takes" is quite a strong message for a reason these days
Artoria in a nutshell: sometimes it takes a top quality waifu, best girl, and the entire franchise's mascot (it's actually canon the last one) to be the man you need.

I recommend watching Case of Lord Melloi if you want more of Rider’s master.

@@LunarEquinox well this idea is handled in another spin off (fate/apocrypha) where the holy grail isn't corrupt and it could actually wish for world piece and someone like kiritsugu wants world peace as well
But then in another spin off (fate/grand order) it is shown that something like that would deviate the timeline too much and stop the normal progression and evolution of humanity making it a lostbelt or a world with no future

The disappointing ending was on purpose though. Fate/Zero is a cautionary tale about what happens when you get too entrenched in your own ideals, and by the time any of them realized that, it was too late. The Grail had already been tainted.
Fate/Zero is a greek tragedy, and it ended as such.
