Way back in 1990 or 91 there were really cool bushings you could buy that were like a constant rate bushing. The bottom bushings were shaped kind of like an hour glass so they would turn like loose trucks but had the rebound of tight trucks.
This definitely helps with break in time. I do it on all new sets of trucks and or bushings. I ride Thunders and the stock bushings are always too stiff so boiling them for sure helps.
I skate really loose trucks, and I do this method with my ace bushings, I put double washers on and tighten the trucks all the way and then just stand on the board turning side to side. Then after about 15-20 minutes I’ll take the washers off loosen the trucks and go skate a curb
This may be happening because most plastics are hydrophilic so boiling them makes them more ductile as they get saturdated with water. The 3d printing community knows about this well and some people boil their nylon 3d printed parts for this reason and keep their filament in a dry box. Nylon if not stored in a dry box can absorb so much moisture from the air that pockets of moisture will boil creating a popping noise and ruin your print. But if you add the moisture after the fact the part gets stronger and pliable. I may test this out by weighing some new bushings and boiling them then measure again to see if they absorb water.
