what about dollars ?don't be deceived;dollars has taken over Nigeria and nobody complain.

Can u imagine the audacity, a Chinese supermarket using yen 💴 to sell goods to Nigerians inside Nigeria 🇳🇬, God what a shame to Nigeria as a country, and u are still here debating it, we the citizens of Nigeria demands an immediate ban, and a fine for discrimination..all the Chinese shops should be thoroughly investigated and banned .. can u imagine ? The Chinese must of paid someone. Watch they will regret this. This could never happen in China no way.
The supermaket caters mostly to Chinese customers in that area. Using Yuan they can use their Chinese payment system like Alipay and do not have to pay extra for exchange to US dollars then to Yuan.
I think even if they are quoted in Yuan , customers should be able to pay in local currencies through a conversion. Imagine to convert from Chinese , to dollars and then from dollars to Yuan ...

Not really. Kenya closed down a similar supermarket. Nigeria has become worse. As bad as military regime was I would imagine they would close it down. Even Obasanjo would have closed it down..but there is just so much corruption now

Factual comment. Truth. In all relationships you teach the other person how to treat you. Because they will do whatever they feel they can get away with and that will define the essence of the relationship.
The Nigerian house of assembly should make laws preventing such businesses to have laws outside the law makers of the country. Can you have a Nigerian shop in China that prevents the Chinese from shopping in China? These are absolutely racist behaviour and should not be tolerated. We are sleep walking into slavery 2.0.

I am sure we watched the same video. This is different. The Chinese do not even allow Nigerians shop plus the price tags is not in naira. It is just like going to supermarket in UK and see physical price tags of basic household commodities such as bread tagged in US Dollars instead of Pounds and then British people are prohibited from shopping there. It is criminal and that business ought to be closed until further notice in addition to their fine.
One question... Can a Nigerian business operate like this in China and the Nigerian Embassy will represent when yawa gaz.... Just thinking out loud
Probably not
How did we get here? How come nobody new about it untill now. This supermarket been existing there for a very long time.

@hkfoo3333:
Dear Sir or Madam:
Thank you for this clear explanation. You've helped me understand the situation better.
The currency situation is one issue and it is understandable. However, as we can see, there is another issue. The disdain and disrespect of the store owners towards the Nigerian population is insulting. An apartheid system in Nigeria by 'foreigners', regardless of their nationality is reprehensible and out of line. Therefore, my suggestion is that those shop owners should be forced to return to their own country. Permanently. Visas cancelled.
Nigerian people should not be treated as second class citizens by outsiders. On the other hand, unfortunately, this kind of arrogance may occur in the hearts of some people when millions or trillions of dollars are borrowed from their country by members of the host country, in this case, Nigeria.....😟.
@@jklmnoqr if you do not need Chinese to help your country to grow and modernise well tell your govt then to do so and ask them to leave.

I do believe when they quoted in yuan are good their Chinese customers and where the supermarkets there was mostly for Chinese workers' conveniences.
Personally i would not bother but the Chinese in China believes in win win .

It is you that is confused .Do you pay in Naira for goods you buy in China.???
@@mervelynebiyonbakare6028 Your question goes without reassuring. If a Nigerian establish a business in China and sells only to Nigerians and decides to charge in Naira, that would be the equivalent of this not the question you asked. If schools in Nigeria charge only in dollars and our politicians patronise these schools why can’t a supermarket charge only in Yuan. Whatever law prohibits this should also apply to these schools but you don’t hear our politicians crying wolf.

Every African government is watching. China has truly messed up. This will hurt many Chinese companies. Some Nigerians have started reviewing and in some cases, cancelling contracts they have with Chinese companies. The Chinese have themselves to blame. As of today, you will find many Chinese nationals languishing in Nigerian prisons for various criminal offences. We still have room in our prisons for more.

It is unfortunate that an ordinary chinese supermarket can cause so much fear and alarm among nigerians in this country. I am certain this supermarket was intentionally setup to cater for chinese citizens living in nigeria to assist them to purchase chinese food items and other local goods that they miss from home. How is a supermarket a threat to our independence and sovereignty? Similar supermarkets run by africans exist in china and it caters for africans - ghanians, nigerians, zambians, morocco, etc living in china. There are nigerian supermarkets in Russia. Haven't you all heard of china town and korea town in the US? Will you all be happy if the chinese govt retaliates by closing those down? Instead of focusing your anger on the corruption in nigerian where an ex-gov can not account for N80billion from his State treasury, we are making noise over chinese supermarket in Abuja...smh. 🤔😏😑
That means they should operate outside the law of the. land? And do you use Naira in their country or yuan?
Nigerian supermarkets in US and UK admit everybody white and black, and they don't demand Naira only.
U really need sense. So all those countries u mentioned use their own currency in the US?
You are off the rail here, totally missing the point. The issue is not the Chinese restaurant or supermarket in of themselves. The issue is that these Chinese businesses do not allow Nigerians to come in there. There are discriminating against the natives, Nigerians. We are aware of African food stores all over the world, even in China, but they don't discriminate against the natives. More so, they do not insist transactions be made in naira only.
@@Krisbankz10 Why are you asking me Mr know all? Don't you know the answer to your silly ridiculous question? The US dollar is a reserved currency. There is obviously no point accepting payment in your own currency if you can have access to the US dollar, however in Nigeria's case, it is not easy having access to the chinese yuan/rmb if you want to change naira into yuan. You try walking into a nigerian bank and ask for yuan. Only God can help you, if you're lucky to get some.
