Thank you for this instruction video...I just finished replacing our Refrigerator Door Seal AND Reversing the Refrigerator Door Swing so now instead of Left to Right our refrigerator door swings Right to Left...I am so grateful...if I can do it (at 58 years old), anyone can do it!!
Excellent concise video! I found it a *LOT* easier to swap the handles with the doors off the fridge, avoids working upside down on the freezer door. While the doors are off, don't overlook moving the refrigerator door stop (down low) like I did. Taking mine all back apart to do it now.🙄
Just did the door reversal on my newly acquired fridge. Everything fine except for one problem. The pin of the top hinge fits into the top of the freezer door but none of the screw holes on the hinge line up with the threaded openings in the top of the cabinet. It appears that the threaded openings were not placed properly on the top left side of the cabinet. Had to revert to right hand opening where the top hinge fits perfectly.
Considering this video is 8 years old I highly doubt I'll get a response but i must ask anyways. How do you remove the plastic screw caps in the doors if one of them breaks? TL:DR - I got my fridge second hand, and the doors opened on the wrong side for my home, so after 7 or 8 years I finally decided to swap them but the top handle plug on the freezer door is snapped off inside the door itself. I can't grab it with pliers, vice grips, none of my hand tools seem to work so now i have swapped door handles but can't use the freezer one cause it's not secure. Any tips to get that plug out?
I just completed this reversal and my lower door is now sagging on the handle side and rubs slightly as it closes. It's visibly crooked. I can't find anything adjustable. Any suggestions? I can maybe shim the lower hinge pin with washers but that will still leave the door crooked.
Adjusted the feet on the fridge to properly square up the box. It helped somewhat but wasn't perfect. Then I took the door off and stuck a couple metal washers on the pin to elevate the door. The door doesn't rub any more but it still takes an extra push to get it to seal.
To remove my frigidaire handles I have to literally gut out the inside of the fridge to find the screw nuts. I said nope. I just turned the whole refrigerator upside down, placed it on a wooden block, Flipped the shelves, Freezers on the bottom now, but it's k.
This video does not include automatic door closing feature. If your refrigerator has this (door shuts the last few inches with a spring like action), there are a few extra steps required to move the plastic parts for this feature (which are not shown in this video).
I've got a newer model but basically the same... problem is the hinge bolt on the top side of the lower door doesnt come out, it just stayed in the hinge so when I flipped the hinge the bolt was upside down I just reinstalled that way and it seems to work... Is it supposed to work like that?
My bottom hinge/pin is perfectly round, it doesn't unscrew from the bracket so I can't take it out and move it to the other hole. How do I deal with that? I swear I reversed the door a few years ago but sure don't remember having a completely different part for it.
I'm watching because I don't have to reverse the doors. I just have to replace the gasket. And since my refrigerator is against the wall it will be best take the door off. The crummy gasket so many of these frigidaires came with.. often they tear at the top and mine is pulled off at the bottom too
Either the hinge socket is missing from the freezer door under the cap, or I’m supposed to swap the freezer door hinge socket to the opposite side but it won’t come out to save my life. So close, last step. 😡 I’m an idiot the hinge socket was coming out with the plug. Just had to separate them. All good. Also it takes way longer than this video implies. Like way longer

I wish every UA-cam vid were as concise and informative as this one. Great job!

Perfect tutorial.... thank you very much.

I'm 6 years late but finally swapped my doors myself. Did you ever get it figured out? 😂

Try lifting the other end of the freezer door. That got my top freezer hinge to line up.
