Massive respect to Groves, what a journey he’s been on. To comeback from 3 world title defeats and become champion shows incredible mental fortitude. Backing him to beat Smith in a few weeks time and win the WBSS aswell as the ring magazine belt which in my eyes will make him the best 168 in the world.
Luda Corleone points the more likely outcome but he does have the power to ko smith. I’m also praying that his shoulder has healed and is 100% for this fight as it could be a decisive factor.
I really hope that Groves wins the final against Smith, but I'm just not sure if he can deal with a young and tall fighter like Smith at this stage, especially if his shoulder isn't 100% because of the shorter recovery period
There are lots in the comments about how great the fight was (it was), and how good the build up was (it was), and all the rest of it. But let's have some appreciation for this outstanding video compilation. Absolutely superb job of putting this together. If it's ok I'll post it on Reddit with credit to you of course.
That night really did change the landscape of boxing in Britain. We have Howard Foster to thank for that! He'll probably get a knighthood for it. Turned out ok for old georgey boy too in the end! 😊
Thanks to Howard Foster - the UK got one of the biggest fights ever. Groves was evidently about to be knocked out anyway. He slumped into Fosters hands with his hands and head down.
I feel a bit for Froch. He's one of those fighters who always has to keep reminding people what he's done and who he beat. It's a shame because he was a tough , intelligent fighter but for some reason almost forgotten.
And he's a shy man, (which is why he always mentions the 80,000 thing, he's so nervous around the cameras) and when interviewed he can come across as awkward or even conceited. He's not. He's a good lad and enjoys his family, and his success. Groves seems like a decent fellah, to be fair.
no one in Britain showed the Taylor fight, live. I watched it with a laptop perched on the sofa and see one of the greatest last rounds of all time. that's why froch had that chip on his shoulder. he'd been there and done it and not got the respect. one of the greatest British boxers of all time and he knows what he's saying every time he mentions the crowd
Back when PPV meant Froch v Groves II with a stellar undercard. Next show... *Checks notes* Babic v Molina headlining at the 02. To say quality has dipped a bit, is an understatement. Thanks Eddie.
Keith Johnson it was absolutely massive. Bigger than AJ it certainly felt like at the time. Maybe because it was the first genuine block buster, 2 brits aswell
James Todd I was in school at the time and everyone in my school everyone was talking about it, it’s rare you get such a massive audience like that for boxing
@@TheJamie6666 froch wanted to kill groves, i could see it in his face. groves was deluded, never considering the possibility of a loss & immediately after the ko, he was yabbering on about how he would win a third, how he should have won the 1st fight, how he was winning the 2nd until a lucky punch out of nowhere, that only landed because he lost concentration for a second....yawn.
Great fight great atmosphere , I'm in the States and got sucked into this great storyline from the 1st fight. Weird to see AJ fighting on undercard early in the day and now he's on the brink of the most massive fight ever.

Granted the first fight Foster did jump in early, but it was only a matter of time, for the last 2 and a half rounds before the stoppage the tide had turned and Groves was on his way out. Stoppage called too early but he was going to be out of there within the next 3 minutes
I always thought that it was Froch being disrespectful in the build up he didn’t see Groves as a legitimate challenger if that was so he should have vacated the IBF. But history is written be the victor sadly for him.
Carl froch by far the best english boxer i can remember I'm 25. Fought everyone ducked know1 what a warrior only got credit in last few his fights also.
