Your talk on this video reminded me of an article I read where a fellow was reminiscing about the church hymns he misheard as a child. There were several but the one that has stuck in the brain was “Lead on Oh King Eternal” that he heard as “Lead on oh kinky turtles.” Laughed again as you approached the “kinky tunnels.”

If I was 20 years younger and lived in the UK .... Quite right about breaking jobs down so they are achievable, your little supervisor looked thoroughly impressed lol. Love the tunnels the light doesn't seem to do anything but warn the other boats coming. At the end of the day you do what works for you. That feeling of magic in the air is amazing. I enjoy how you enjoy life to the fullest.
The lights just show the tunnel roof curves as a guide … they don’t light up anything 😂 but it’s good to keep the curve in the middle so you don’t hit the sides 😂😂

RAIN!! Never mind lass, summer is a Thursday again this year!😂 Hammerite is great, painted my 25 foot railway signal using that. Signal was upright (having put it up!) so rigged up a bosun's chair, had a lot of help from my pusscat Prue, she was a good railway cat, always helped whatever I was doing outside. I think I'd be scared in those tunnels but they probably look scarier on the video. The only thing I would say about the boat paint is get fatter masking tape! 😄
You did a great job on The Rum Wench, fiddly jobs are a pain, there’s always something to do on your home be it on water or land. We extended a wall about three months ago, bought some wall paper and the wall paper is still sitting there waiting to be put up. You can’t rush these things Heidi. At the moment I am busy I have 7 balls of wool and one chunky ball of wool on one size 10 knitting needle with about 35 stitches on, am making a under blanket for the winter months and also I have to drink 2 litre's of water as I have gallstones, feeling a bit sore. Yet another lovely vlog, Heidi. It is funny how the weather knows when you are planning to do some external DIY and then interrupt at the most inconvenient moments. I am glad you managed to fill those days doing something useful. I also think that C&RT need to develop the 'self avoiding tunnel' system, in that if a boat is passing through a tunnel and is about to hit the side the tunnel moves slightly to avoid the impact. It would save the wear and tear on the various narrowboats that pass through them! It might be worth replacing those 'canopy' bolts with stainless steel ones. That way you would have less rust to worry about. Just a thought. I went to one of those places where they have live animal exhibits. They only had a small canine for visitors to look at. It was a Shih Tzu. Take care, stay safe, and happy cruising.

I passed your moored up boat about 2 weeks ago on my way up north 🍻 Then did the Preston Brook tunnel without any lights, thinking my lights had stopped working but I'd switched them off at the switch box 🤦 another lesson learned!

Hi The nuts are bolts, in addition you could try swapping them for Stainless Steel Bolts, keeping them lubricated with waterproof grease, spray grease or regular squirts of silicone

I'm claustrophobic and the long dark tunnels you went through would have done me in but I enjoyed the ride along with you. I enjoy the animated travel maps you have been posting during your videos. So clever .. Bonny is doing amazing and has really settled well into being a First Mate on the Rum Wench. You are an excellent pet parent with training her and helping her settle into the life of a canal pirate. I really enjoy you sharing what life is like living on a boat on the canals. Everyone has home maintenance and chores to do whether your home is a tiny home, a motorized home, a home on water or a home on land. Well done ... Thursday is my happy day hanging out with you. Don.t skimp on the masking tape Heidi. Double the width, and you'll not suffer so much overlap of the paint, if any.
Agreed , a wider tape would have made the job easier to get a straight line.

At the moment I am busy I have 7 balls of wool and one chunky ball of wool on one size 10 knitting needle with about 35 stitches on, am making a under blanket for the winter months and also I have to drink 2 litre's of water as I have gallstones, feeling a bit sore.

Yet another lovely vlog, Heidi. It is funny how the weather knows when you are planning to do some external DIY and then interrupt at the most inconvenient moments. I am glad you managed to fill those days doing something useful. I also think that C&RT need to develop the 'self avoiding tunnel' system, in that if a boat is passing through a tunnel and is about to hit the side the tunnel moves slightly to avoid the impact. It would save the wear and tear on the various narrowboats that pass through them!
It might be worth replacing those 'canopy' bolts with stainless steel ones. That way you would have less rust to worry about. Just a thought.
I went to one of those places where they have live animal exhibits. They only had a small canine for visitors to look at. It was a Shih Tzu.

I passed your moored up boat about 2 weeks ago on my way up north 🍻
Then did the Preston Brook tunnel without any lights, thinking my lights had stopped working but I'd switched them off at the switch box 🤦 another lesson learned!

The nuts are bolts, in addition you could try swapping them for Stainless Steel Bolts, keeping them lubricated with waterproof grease, spray grease or regular squirts of silicone
Hello Heidi ... I don't think living aboard a narrowboat would work for me .. I'm claustrophobic and the long dark tunnels you went through would have done me in but I enjoyed the ride along with you. I enjoy the animated travel maps you have been posting during your videos. So clever .. Bonny is doing amazing and has really settled well into being a First Mate on the Rum Wench. You are an excellent pet parent with training her and helping her settle into the life of a canal pirate. I really enjoy you sharing what life is like living on a boat on the canals. Everyone has home maintenance and chores to do whether your home is a tiny home, a motorized home, a home on water or a home on land. Well done ... Thursday is my happy day hanging out with you.
