Capt Bonny has a lot of confidence in her First Mate, did you see how relaxed she was knowing that you had that lock under control. It's obvious she leads a taut ship and fine crew.
Hello Heidi, You are so right in saying curveballs can come anytime, My wife & I are the same age as your lovely Mum, fractured hips & knee replacements were never in our retirement plans but here they are, You have to make the best of it. Thanks for your lovely videos, we always look forward to Thursday night to watch them.
Faffing is probably best described as dithering but your explanation summed it up nicely. It is a word that I use regularly. Thanks for the videos , very enjoyable.
I absolutely agree with your sentiments Heidi life is for living and your never the wrong time , I was extremely active and only 57 and now diagnosed with ME these few years so mostly bed bound with the occasional good day . Like Heidi says folks LIVE your best lives this is not a rehearsal folks
Hello Heidi. What a wonderful post today. Your mom is lovely. Your philosophy about doing things when you are able to is spot on. Im amazed how you handled the lock gates. Thank you so much. Gigi, my rescued Frenchie and I love you and all that you do. Joseph and Gigi in Cape May.
Interesting and enjoyable- pleased you got to have a mother - daughter catch up. Bonnie is usually quiet - grandma arrives and she found her voice❤😅 Thanks Jan Adelaide
the sign on the iron lock said adult supervision so it's a good thing your mum was there... 😁 that curry should have been just the thing for a frosty day👍👍👍
I thought the meaning of faffing about was well known, same meaning as the other f word so faffing is a better option to the other word, use it rather than swearing. You’re so lucky to have your mum and dad, she’s very active for someone who has had those injuries. You know your mums age, and mine, we didn’t have the adventurous spirit you younger ones have nor were half the adventures available to us that my grand kids can have. Bonny was so happy to see her Nan. Go ladies. That water is very brown. Enjoyed your vlog lovely lady, you so make my day, when things turn to s#@t you always look at the positive. You’re amazing Heidi. See you soon and take care. 🥰
I did enjoy that curry and washed down with the rum, delicious!! Bonny would have liked some Rum too I think. Look forward to the next delicious dinner!! Thanks!! John x
You met some lovely people today and of course your beautiful Mom. The boating community soothes the soul. Thank you Heidi and Bonny for another wonderful adventure. Cheers.
Faffing about, is doing something the "Long Way Round". When it comes to the size of locks, in 1969 i went with a group of fellow venture scouts. We hired camping punts and went up the Thames as far as Lechlade, went up a few navigable "Drains", went beyond the sign saying "No Longer Navigable". But in thames locks we felt like matchsticks in a puddle. Those punts were 18 feet long, 3 feet wide and 20 inches at the deepest point. They had hoops that supported canvas covers, but in those locks, boy did we feel small. Happy days. Take care out there, we loved that phone call.
I just love watching your videos Heidi . Yourself and your lovely ship mate Bonnie are a joy to watch. ( family time is very important so it was lovely seeing your mum joining you both for a catch up and a cuppa)❤
Heidi hi! As usual, another great vlog. Love your attitude to life, and your positivity when things go wrong. It is great that you recognise the simple things in life, like appreciating your interactions with your family (in this case, your mum), & with people you meet on your travels. For those of us, not on the canals, we spend our lives rushing about, & worrying about all sorts of other things & forget about the basics. Stay safe, and look forward to your next one.
I think i must be an excellent faffer ! LOVELy to see all those nice people who are wishing you well only your way, Heidi, as we are. Bonnie is such a sweetheart of a dog, sweet to see her with your Mum ❤. You are so right about not waiting to enjoy yourself.
WOW!, that first lock didn't want to close easily, your Mum is an absolute Treasure, obviously loved by You and Bonny, so many people around wanting to help with the locks, I think it's truly amazing, and Bonny living in hope for a bit of curry too, Bless her, Always lovely to see you both on your travels, looking forward to the next one.
Wow Heidi you work so hard, you and Bonny are such an amazing team so glad your videos popped up on my phone about a year ago. Keep up the good work you and Bonny are a joy to watch. Stay safe .Bill from Lincolnshire 🎉
This brought back some fond memories. Bunbury Locks is where my Wife and I started our first ever canal holiday with Anglo Welsh. We went with my cousin and her Husband. We went as far as Grindley Brook on the Llangollen canal and back. We had a wonderful time.
Glad your mom is fixed , fit and healthy . My mom also broke her hip , recovered from cancer , broke her leg , then again as they botched the op , then a pacemaker . Sadly she died 3 years ago , I thought she would make 100 :-) Enjoy your time together .
Think i know where you get your tenacity from girl….from your Mum, she’s a trooper to be in such good health/mobility, especially after her hip problem😊😊😊 you’re very lucky to have her ❤❤❤ Bonny was shouting ‘Nanna’ in dog language i think 😅😅
That first lot of music was definitely faff music 😂.....there's something really lovely about seeing 2 boats together in a lock ...... chatting about their day maybe😄. Bonny being so excited seeing your Mum but then looking so deflated realising that "your dinner" wasn't hers.😂 Rosie teasing Jim😉 and friends made along the way ,another feel good day with Heidi.....Thank you.😊 Wise words about doing things while you can too.😊
Ahoy there, Heidi! Your videos were amazing infotainment for me during the year I spent finding and buying my first boat. This is my second winter aboard now and I have never stopped loving the life. You paint a really fun and honest picture of what it's like to be a boater, and I learned more about the daily practicalities of boat life from watching your videos than from anywhere else. In retrospect I kinda wish I'd learned more about stern glands (don't be rude!) but you can't learn everything all at once. Arrrrr, happy sailin' me heartie!!! Cap'n Baz (of the good boat Radinka)
Hi Heidi I agree live for now you never know what’s in the future. My sister 69 passed away this week treasure your mum and give her a hug whenever you see her. Linda
"Faffing" is an informal British term that means to waste time doing unimportant things instead of what needs to be done: "I wish you'd stop faffing about and do something useful!" "It was annoying to watch them faffing around when a more direct response was required". "Faff" can also be used as a noun to describe something that is awkward or time-consuming to do: "Changing the bulb was a bit of a faff". "Stripping the walls was a real faff". "It's an awful faff to make your own marmalade". The earliest known use of the verb "faff" is in the 1870s, in the writing of Sabine Baring-Gould, a Church of England clergyman, author, and folksong collector. The origin of the word is uncertain.
Hia. We went out last night to celebrate the wife’s birthday all pirate stylie, came back to the boat full of rum. Sat down for the usual Thursday night treat and who’s on your video? Us and our pirate mate Chris, thanks it really made her birthday as we’re big fans. Take care

Good afternoon Heidi and Bonny. Don't want to bring any sadness to your wonderful upbeat videos. Was wondering if you are familiar with Timothy Weston? He and his lovely wife were my first introduction to narrow boats and the canals. They were also champions of restoration and care of the canal system in your beautiful country. Sadly He passed yesterday. My Thursdays are always better after a ride on the Rum Wench.

Thank you Heidi for letting us live through you vicariously. Love your sense of humor and your colorful speech. Definitely nice to see a sense of community on the cut.
I think “colorful” is the most tactful, diplomatic description of Heidi’s speech I have seen. Whatever you call it, we all love Heidi and the glimpses we get of her life on the canals.
I just remembered where I saw someone using Heidi’s comment about the mermaid. It was the UA-camr from Down Under who raises sheep and whose salty language is hilarious in its own way. Heidi’s double entendres are just so very clever, especially the titles of her musical creations. Not being British it often takes days or weeks for me to determine the meaning behind a title such as “Chapel Hat Pegs.” 😻
great vlog - we cant wait to explore that stretch of the canal - last time we made it a far as the iron lock and had a cuppa and cake in the local bike themed cafe

Bonnie's face when you were eating your curry and when she was talking to your mum- priceless! 😂 I'm currently faffing around on the Shroppie at the moment, aimlessly wandering around, just taking each day as it comes, not worrying about anything except for finding the next Elsan point... 😆 Fab advice re double locks- I haven't tackled these yet but will be more confident when I do, thank you for the tips.
