- At just $199, the Coros Pace 2 is one of the cheapest running watches out there. But is this a case where you get what you pay for? Or is this one of the best deals in running?

I purchased mine for training and for use in my first 100-mile ultra. Before I started looking into watch options, all I wanted was a watch that focused on running (not all of the bells and whistles that come with a lot of smartwatches). This watch delivered exactly what I was looking for, and luckily at a very reasonable price. I love the presentation of the info while running, the long battery life, and I agree with all of the positives you mentioned. Thanks for reviewing my favorite running gadget.
What does the watch tell you about your sleep and recovery vs your output from running?
@@HH-gv8mx sleep wise it tells you REM/light/deep/awake - running features are great (V02 max, resting, training load, aerobic/anaerobic intensity, running performance, fatigue levels, resting time recommendation, 4-week TL distribution and base fitness. Couple more features in the app I can’t recall off the top of my head)
Can you pre-set running training or strategy before going on a race with Coros Pace 2?
Were you able to complete the whole race without recharging the watch? Any tips for extending the 30 hours limit without going to Ultratrac mode?
@@LucaPS3 I was able to complete the race without recharging the watch (22 hours) and there was plenty of charge left on the battery, but I was in UltraMax mode the entire time. There's a variety of tips for conserving battery life without using UltraMax mode available on the Coros site.
Just got the Pace 2 for cycling and very happy with the accuracy of the HRM, GPS and elevation info and grade %. It is ridiculously light and still learning all the features. Loving it so far!
Glad to hear that!
Got this watch as a gift for my birthday. Best gift I’ve ever had. Very light, top tier battery life, GPS is on point. Would recommend.
the spatial recording of the find my phone going off made me look around my desk! great review as always.
I've got the Coros Apex and loving it so far. Coros have great customer support and give frequent updates too to help the watch improve. Would highly recommend them
It’s honestly the best purchase I’ve made in this space. Incredible value and (more importantly) superb functionality.
The last 10 seconds is the death of me, lol! Great review Mike!
the pace 2 is awesome - my favourite feature is being able to have a workout set up with distances or time and manually lap, it will still give you the five second countdown at the end of the lap but you decide if the rep/rest is over - love the way they present the data in the training hub too.
Do you mean you can pre-set your running strategy or training?
Great video! Have seen multiple reviews on this watch, and I’m now gonna get one for christmas.
hope you enjoy!
Had mine around a year now - love it, fits the bill entirely for what I need and the constant updated features are amazing. Well worth the price.
Does it link easily with iPhones and iPads?
@@HH-gv8mx yea! Once I set the watch up with the app I haven’t had any issues. If I turn Bluetooth off & later on again it auto connects which is nice, also links up easy to Strava etc and auto sends my runs/workouts from the coros app to Strava
Appreciate the in depth review!
Great review as always. Happy with my Coros Pace 2.
It’s also great for triathlons as it has open water swim and a triathlon mode!
I love mine. I love that I can import TrainingPeaks trainings plans right into my workout calendar. It’s such a great watch for the money. Beast battery life and doesn’t scratch easy. I’ve had the white one for close to a year now. Big fan.
Had mine a year too absolutely love it can't imagine upgrading to anything else only problem I had was with cadence lock with the optical sensor but not had a problem since I got a chest strap
my next will probably be a garmin (better cycling suppert + friends) but I hope it'll last at least two more years because it's amazing
I feel the exact same way about the gps lag, however the accuracy makes it okay. Compared to my friends vantage 2 mine is a lot more accurate
I love my pace 2. Great review and you touched on basically all of the key pros and cons.
One thing I'd like to see Coros add is a race mode. I want to tell it the race distance and my target time and then have it do the math to tell me if I'm on pace or not and by how much. That's basically the only feature I'm missing.
"Virtual Rabbit" option.
Anyone stumbling here in the future, they added breadcrumb maps in a free update. So the only thing missing from this watch is music.
It has REM sleep, you showed it in the video when you scrolled to sleep.
Another big benefit is that you get actual product updates. With Garmin if I wanted new features I had to buy a new model. COROS has added tons of features in the last year that I’ve had it.
Did I say it didn’t? I may have misspoken. But whether I did of not is something is moot to my larger point that I’d rather have sleeping HRV. I don’t know what to do with REM sleep versus deep sleep or light sleep. Im not sure there’s even any way to test whether the watch is accurately recording each category.
@zackbelcher3896 how’s the strength training aspect of the watch?
This is going to be my first running watch. Previously I just used the phone. I'm excited.
Update- I LOVE IT. Never would have believed all the information you could get about your run from one little watch. Thanks again for the review
Hope you enjoy!
Hope you enjoy many happy miles with it!
Impressive video. Looks like you have won a new follower. You said it doesn't have a mapping or navigation, can you advise on one with a such features in price range.. thanks
Bruh the oreo comparison is actually so helpful
I love the light weight! I almost never take it off. Even swim it
Garmin has had the ability to find your phone/watch since at least the forerunner 235 (I have used it a ton over the years)
The song at intro…what the name of the song? Really dope editing there Kofuzi!
Love the double wristing.
I’ve had it for a few months now. I agree it’s a great watch at a good price. My only complaint is having to scroll the crown to unlock the watch during an activity so I can pause or end the run.
I think you can turn off the scroll unlock. the weird thing is that, for the Vertix 2, to unlock, you long press the crown button. not sure why they went with a different action for the same function on different watches.
@@kofuzi good point, I didn’t realize you have the ability to change the unlock mode. Looks like you can switch to hold to unlock or turn lock off by going to Main watch face > system> more settings> auto lock> standby mode> workout mode> scroll to unlock/hold to unlock/ off. You can set your preferences for both standby and workout modes.
@@MG-qt4im You've just improved my life!!! I also didn't like having to "spin the wheel" to view different screens while running. Thanks for posting where to find the settings, I love this watch even more.
Dive on the menu
Auto lock

Reading in portuguese and translating ..
Might not exactly like that on your watch.
Hope I helped
Great review. I have the Coros Pace 2 and it is super light. I bought it for track runs but will be doing outdoor runs off the track soon. It does not have music, but then it would be bigger and heavier with a higher purchase price. I wear my Apple watch now just for music and started to run for the first time without my iphone which made me lighter for my run. Thanks for the info about how to use it to 'find my iPhone' or to use the Coros app on my iPhone to fine my Coros Pace 2. Super powerful battery that I have not even charged yet. I don't need maps for running on a track, and when I run outdoors I would know the route first so I don't get lost. Worst case scenario, I would just use my iPhone map. Seems that even when a watch has a map on their watch them keep complaining how small the watch screen is, but they knew that before they bought it. My iPhone has a much bigger screen for a map.
I’m definitely more interested in a watch that tracks my daily physical exertion vs my sleep & recovery. Not sure which watch is the best for that. Maybe the Apple Watch?
@@HH-gv8mx I have the Coros pace 2, and like it very much. But while it is an amazing running/active watch for the price, it’s sleep/recovery metrics are lacking for me. So I use an Oura ring for sleep/recovery. But I think Polar and Garmin seem to have some of the best sleep/recovery metrics, if you wanted one device to do it all.
First! I was literally just looking at this watch on Amazon to compare against the Forerunner 245. Thanks for this informative video!
I wish it would not autoscroll when pausing during intervals. Just have the option to show the rest time without scrolling by itself to other info. I will email this suggestion to Coros. What do you think? Also it would be great to have the possibility to delete a customized workout. More efficient than editing in in order to create a new one. A Night Training Mode would be helpfull: the light to turn on when you lift the arm only during an activity. Now it lights up sometimes when I move my arm and do not want to see the time and this way it consumes battery.
Wish it has music. Would make it perfect. Great video!
I love my pace 3 and my new balances.
They've added the REM sleep within the past few months to all watches, I have the apex pro. I wouldn't be surprised if Coros at some point does more sleep data...but time will tell
I’m definitely more interested in a watch that tracks my daily physical exertion vs my sleep & recovery. Not sure which watch is the best for that.
Thanks!!
Nice review as always. Just wanted to ask, have you tried importing a gpx file on this and played it to guide you on the trails in the mountain? Just wanted to know cause my current watch doesnt have that feature and would probably buy it in case I go for a hike or trail run to guide me on those unfamiliar trails :)
Before my coros pace 2 I owned a Fenix 7s standard (smallest size of the Fenix) the price of that watch was $699 and I never ever felt those $699 were worth it at all. Terrible watch all around. I’m the kind that’s either all or nothing. I went from one end to the othe (getting a $699 watch) to a coros pace 2 for $100) this is the most affordable watch for all the tech you get. I love the slim simple design which feels very unique a bit of retro. I love how light weight it is. It’s perfect for my needs. I do simple cardio workouts, indoor and outdoor run, a bit of cycling and I like to track my daily steps to make sure I am active enough day to day. So far my only con is the time it takes when starting an activity (the time it takes to establish gps signal and HR) it takes seconds but I guess that’s something I never experienced when starting an activity with Garmin or Apple. But for $100! Hell I’m totally fine waiting a few seconds. Take your time 😅lol.
Finally someone who compares the size with something (Oreo) i can compare to!
DC Rainmaker was the first to use the Oreo as a measurement reference
Thanks 👌🏼

This Watch plus an Apple Watch makes a fantastic combination
I just got this watch two days ago and it fits like a dream! One question I have is about the bottom right button. It seems that if you click it with enough force to not actually click the button, it makes this slight clicky sound like there is slack before pressing. Is this normal or some sort of feature for sport watches? (Its my first gps watch ever and Im worried if I should have it checked right away or not)
Just a little heads up-since you seem to use Garmin watches a bit these days: Garmin also offers the „find my phone“ ←→ „find my watch“ feature. I totally agree, it's super useful. 🙂
Pretty sure he mentioned that in his most recently review, no? Maybe I am imagining things. For years Michael was mainly using Polar, so I guess the issue is more that Polar does not offer this than the other way around.
@@scriptosaurusrex I'm not sure Mike mentioned it in his Garmin reviews, but it could be. I'm only mentioning it because he said he wishes every brand would have this function without mentioning Garmin at all, which made it sound like he doesn't know about it.
I believe you prefer the polar flow ecosystem, I saw awhile back...The question I have is between the polar pacer and the coros pace 2, which ecosystem would I goto the app (phone) or labtop *less. Preferably, I would like to see my info/stats on the phone app, if not entirely on the watch itself...anyone? Thanks appreciate it😊
Hey. Nice video. Does it pair with Samsung health app
I like the watch I need one to improve my running ni we don't have shop which sell the watch
How does the app or website for data compare to garmin? I like garmins course strategy feature and the database on there is fairly established with routes from other runners. Is there something like this with Coros?
How does this compare to a forerunner? Looking at the 255 Music, but it’s hard to justify $350-400 when the Pace 2 might do the trick.
Can you pre-set running training or strategy before going on a race with Coros Pace 2?
How is the strength training? The muscle heat map seem good, but I can't find any reviews go deep in it.
The light weight watch with dependable GPS and long battery life
id get one but seems like my garmin is never going to break lol
Hey, sorry if you've covered this in another video, I was just wondering what back pack you use for your runs (the grey one at the start of the video)? I'm after a new one. Cheers!
It's a camelback
fwiw, it's not a back pack, it's a hydration vest. semantics, maybe. but it's not a run commute pack. it's the camelbak zephyr with a bladder. for run commuting, I like the osprey day lite plus
My other complaint about this watch (hopefully someone can help me see if there is a setting for this) is that the stopwatch drains the battery really quickly, even though it isn't using the LED light or the GPS. I use the stopwatch a lot, and I don't understand why it uses the battery the way it does. Anyone with the same problem?
SOLD I'm getting it now. This is just what I need
Hope you enjoy!
How much
@@ontaribatasari555 It was about 220 total
I've been using mine since July. It would be nice if I could remove some of my old workouts in the watch.
I have had a Pace 2 since last year. Is there a newer version that you’re reviewing here? I don’t know if you’re speaking of some deeper heart rate monitoring during sleep, but on the app, it does show your heart rate in the sleep chart.
the data I'm looking for is beat to beat interval and HRV, specifically. Resp rate and HR are good to know as well. I didn't realize HR was available in the sleep chart on the app.
I can't see the watch face when I have my sunglasses on. It's more accurate than my phone and I seem to be a little faster using this watch compared to NRC on my phone. And it's light.
I don't know why these running watches don't have 3s or 10s avg pace like cycling computers have for power. Does look like a good replacement for my dying Garmin 645M though!
Will this connect to the COROS heart rate monitor ?
Hi, KO and everyone!
I have a question: I wanted to know if when the watch gives the activity alert (automatic lap) the screen doesn't really light up? I just bought one and I run at night and I noticed that every km, the alert was activated, I felt the vibration but the screen did not light up. Is that right or do I have some misconfiguration?
Can you do custom autolaps? Or just every mile / km?
It is a fool proof run watch for a runner that needs simple stats to track progress . The lightness , reliable GPS and long battery life is 5 ⭐️. I’ve used it for a year and a half , and it is problem free . #gadgetthatworks ,
Kofuzi, great review. I am a new COROS Pace 2 user and new to the COROS Training Hub.I will start doing 'Fartlek' runs. For example, running 2 laps (800 meters) and a 30 second break. Then keep repeating this until I have done a few miles. My questions is this- How do I make this a customized workout on my computer at home through the COROS Training Hub 'before' my workout? I jdon't know where or how to do it on the COROS Training Hub on my home computer, and also I don't know how I would then find it on my COROS Pace 2 afterwards to do it. Thanks
Kofuzi, no need to respond to my question above. Hey, I just discovered the 'Calendar' on the COROS Training Hub on my home computer. I see that on the right hand side of the calendar is an icon which, when the cursor is on it, then changes to include the word 'Workouts'. Otherwise, that word (Workout) is not on the calendar screen other than 'Workout List' which is something totally different. Then at the bottom of it you get the display '+ Create Workouts'. PS- thank you for noting this great feature which I did not know existed.
Hi Mike. What watch are you using for your normal workouts when not reviewing other units?
I've been bouncing between the Garmin 255 Music and the Polar Pacer Pro
I got it just for the find my phone feature 😅
I had a Pace 1 that I loved that got water damage and failed this summer and so I replaced it with a Pace 2 which I assumed would be about the same with a few new bells and whistles. But in fact, it’s actually a disappointing downgrade from the Pace 1 since unlike its predecessor, it doesn’t have hike mode or trail run mode which are important to me. It does have a strength training mode but it doesn’t do a good job of counting reps which, I expect is a tough thing for a watch to do, but why have it if it does it poorly?
I guess if you only use it for running then it’s fine.
Coros Pace 3 is on the way this year?
It changed my training completely. I upped the weekly volume from 50 to 120 km and I now hope to attain sub 3 Marathon. The fact that it supports natively Stryd made predictions very accurate. Also I wear it up the arm so the HR is spot on, better than my chest strap (my skin dries sometimes). I came from a long line of Garbage Fenix 2, Garbage Fenix 3, Garbage Fenix 3 HR and Garbage 935.
You run more because the Watch? 😂😂😂
As strânge it might seem yes, due to this watch I started seeing results hence I trained smarter and longer, since I recovered faster (Treshold running) guided by EvoLab.
would this work with a Garmin HRM?
I like the watch except the breadcrumb navigation. I actually bought it thinking, or hoping the breadcrumb system would help me navigate since I live in France by necessity, don’t speak the language well, and need direction on the streets. The navigation on the Coros Pace 2 sucks.
Can I ask I'm looking for watch to pace me for this watch have this feature
People please BE WARNED Coros Pace 2 battery dies after 2 or 3 years use. Running forums are full of disappointed users. The battery is not replaceable, a total waste of money. I loved the Pace 2, but I won’t spend more money in Coros.
The Pace 2 received breadcrumb navigation in April 2023
I love my Garmin 955.
Lovely hockey puck
I know this is going to sound ridiculous but as someone with smaller wrists - one of the most helpful parts of the review was the size comparison with the Oreo.
I stole the idea from DC Rainmaker
Is it normal to have the same average heart rate for a 5.19 mile run with a 9:22 pace and a 3.09 mile run with a 7:08 pace? That is the data this watch is giving me
have been enjoying my instinct 2 solar but flirting with the idea of getting this also... would it be a total downgrade? -no mapping or saving locations, no solars, no rugged looks, no trail or climbing modes aaand idk about instincts altimeter being barometric or so i pass that, less accurate heartrate, maybe?... ups are the coloured screen (apparently not very colourful) and those paces lining up on coros data screen is lovely.
how accurate are those? like aerobic endurance 4.15-4.27 or smtg like those...
i forgot the instinct 2's biggest feature: HRV. tho people say thats not scientific totally for the moment but still... it is there.
I think the watch is great ... the only thing im missing is navigation.
I think at this price point and weight it’s hard to have legitimate navigation added.
You can upgrade to their other watches to include navigation.
11:55the most thing that i worried when running into forest or park
With regards to pace was it set to show average pace rather than current? I found that with mine before fiddling with the settings
Any ideas on the apple ultra watch Mike?
it solves a ton of problems I didn't have but doesn't resolve the ones I do. I did order the updated Apple Watch SE though. my Apple Watch 4 could use an update.
@@kofuzi please review this 🙏 the people want your opinion
There have been complaints about the optical hr sensor accuracy on coros pace 2 for some time now,how did you find it's accuracy?
I understand that optical hr is not accurate when compared to chest hr strap, but still would like to know your opinion on this particular watch.
I have had the Pace 2 for two years and I find the optical HR sensor to be problematic. Sometimes it will be 50-70 Bpm higher. Really off. I try to jack it up my wrist and give it a minute in start mode before I start a workout, which helps some. But it goes bananas sometimes. I have that happen more with cycling which is harder than running for optical HR sensors. I still like the watch overall for the feature set, simplicity and good battery life.
@@HoytMcBeth thanks for sharing your experience.Do you use a chest strap then for accurate heart rate monitoring?
@@deshkanagrikhoon thanks for your questions: I do use a Polar 10 and I also use a Rhythm+ optical HRM sometimes.
Will you be doing a comparison against the Polar Pacer?
Maybe. Watch videos are not my favorite genre to make
Love my Pace 2. Have been running with it for 2+ years. So much better than Garmin!
I really like the features of this and other running watches. But what I don't like in a major way is the fact that you can't replace the battery. That means that the watch has a maximum life span as long as the battery..that is if nothing else happens before. I don't know what the maximum is that a lithium battery can work properly, but my guess is that it wouldn't be any longer than, say 3 to 4 years...? And I find that a little bit short for this kind of watch...plus the fact that it's not really environment friendly.. to discard watches every 4 years.... so that's the main reason I haven't bought one yet. Does anyone know of any sport watches with replaceable batteries?
I never thought of that.
Sure you've been asked this since it's release, but will you be getting the Apple Watch Ultra to review?
maybe once it's winter. imo, any Apple Watch ultra video is incomplete without subfreezing temperature performance testing.
Hi Mike. Any idea about pace 3?
I have heard absolutely nothing about a pace 3
No link?
Does anybody know which watch does the best job tracking pace early? The Apple Watch doesn’t tell you anything for a few minutes.. which is the most important time to establish a pace. we have open skies, no buildings. Do dedicated GPS watches have this issue?
you should be able to set your Apple Watch data fields to instant pace (versus the default rolling and/or average paces). I believe that is a relatively new thing, assuming you are using the native Workouts app.
for other apps, such as iRun26.2 and WorkOutdoors, this has always been the default.
@@kofuzi So, I updated the phone and the watch, and now within few seconds gives me a proper pace. I don't know if it was a'lot of complaints, or who knows. Now it works great. I'm sticking with it. Thanks.
does it have any type incident detection or assistance features
I am not aware. it's not a feature I have tested in any watch
Coros is quite better than Garmin with lower price and the same functions. But the marketing is so weak here in North America.
Can you control your music if you have your phone on you? If not what do you recommend as a comparable...so many options.
if you need stability, GT 1000
I purchased my Pace 2 for running after reading and watching many reviews, including this one. After several weeks I have decided to replace it. There are 1001 different functions but it doesn't come with an instruction manual and the controls aren't intuitive. Even something as simple as changing the date has proved impossible. It's difficult to unlock while running, especially in the dark. The statistics I want to see are too small and the ones I don't care about fill the screen. It vibrates at random distances like 0.84 or 0.60 and not at round milestones like 1.0. Whoever designed it clearly had a different way of thinking than I do. I'll probably give mine away and try another brand.
maybe, just maybe, your watch is set to kilometers?
It's been 18 months and my watch finally failed. Battery lasts 3-4 hours, laser heart rate monitor died and LED light died, all within the past two weeks. Fortunately they have a 2 year warranty and they are replacing it. I hope mine was just a lemon and that the same thing won't happen with the next one.
Does it have a music function aswell ?
no
Sorry if these are “silly” questions but I’m a novice with these watches - does it require I bring my phone with me on my run and does it require an additional paid monthly service?
no and no.
Great video. Thanks for answering so quickly too
Does coros pace 2 have the same problem w pace lagging even w software updates?
Yup
Does the Coros Pace 2 have a stopwatch for track workouts?
yes
@@kofuzi thank you :)
Will white color become yellowish overtime ?
This is the first plastic Coros that I’ve reviewed, and I return Coros watches when I’m done with the review. I would consult with someone who had more relevant long term experience with white Coros plastic case watches
Are you going to review the More V4? I’m getting into running, just bought the 1080 v12.

@@kofuzi Can’t wait for the review! 🏃♂️
which will you suggest apex pro or pace 2?
Wait for new apex, till the end of this year should be out.
My opinion ( owner of pace 2 EK )
Pace 2 for Road dedicated runnners ( with the updates also ready for trails)
The Apex pro for those trail runners who love to go up and down in the mountains!
