2.5d CNC machining an aluminum torque arm
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- Just broke the torque arm for my bicycle hub and needed a quick replacement.
Material is 20mm Al Mg 4.5 Mn.
Trochoidal machining with 6mm single flute and 1/8" 2 flute tools.
Surface finish is a bit rough because the 1/8" tool is quite worn out and I didn't care enough to add a finishing pass - I just want to ride my bike again :-)

3. Verwenden Sie keine Kühlung des Werkzeugs?
Your software looks great, I'm looking forward to trying it with my machine!
Great stuff, would like to see a video on your DIY machine itself
Super impressed checking out your cam software. Your videos are super informative. My main cam program is CamBam I really like it. But I am so impressed with your software. Going to have to buy it as soon as possible. I really enjoy listening to your voice. Peace out Christian.
Awesome work man! would love to see more about your CNC machine! Thinking of upgrading form my shapeoko 3 to a custom built design!
Very nice video! Would like to see more such videos. Very useful.
Hallo Christian,
Excellent! I will try machining alluminium with my cheap chinese CNC that has a 300W spindle but will ask for less deep passes.
Very good Material as usualy - we will put link to our FB. Mr Knull would you be at Maker fair in Berlin next week?
Wow! Easy and efficiently
Awesome video!
wonderful! thank for share.
those are some bizzare spindle movements.
Nice job.
I think it may be my new favorite word. can I get the correct spelling? And how did you break that? Got the video of the crash?
Great video, though video stabilization really ruins it and makes me dizzy. :(
Excelente. Parabéns
That must have taken for ever and a life time!!.... as long as your not trying to make a living like that.... at least you got something to do to keep you out of trouble..
What CAD software do you use?
Christian for this work you use an arduino controller?
Super!
Was ist das eigentlich für eine Fräse?
nice
Can you share feeds and speeds used for the 1/8 tools?
2000mm/min 20000rpm / 5% trochoidal stepover / 33% trochoidal width.
To be honest this is mostly guesswork and not the result of precise calculations - I do not cut much aluminum and with trochoidal milling enabled feeds and speeds work well over a large range of values. I used the feed override during machining to reduce the feed a little - it initially just shook the machine too much and made filming difficult.
Edit: I just aim to achieve nice "needle" chips - then everything is fine. If the chips are dust feeds are too low and / or rpm too high, if the chips are heavily deformed feeds are too high and or rpm too low.
Thank you, it seems my tools break before i get a chance to override the settings... maybe i should try trochoidal
Schon irre was man mit Deiner einfachen Software alles machen kann. Und einfach meint hier"echt einfach zu bedienen" ;-).
wts the cost of this software
60 USD or similar it's very cheap but you can do a lot as you can see
It's actually free, if you don't mind waiting a few seconds to export.
kann es sein das bei 5:56 zu sehen ist, das sich der Fräser leicht biegt, oder bilde ich mir das nur ein ?
What spindle u use ?
Very good Material as usualy - we will put link to our FB. Mr Knull would you be at Maker fair in Berlin next week?
Hi,
thank you - I appreciate every link.
Maker faire Berlin is unfortunately too far away and also no time next week.
I know - I'm not sure if You remember, few weeks ago Friend of My wrote you an email from Poland. Since that time we are providing some tests and publicate results at our FB . Shortly our Project of CNC for Makers will be over and Estelcam will be one of this platforms witch we will seriously recomend to builders as base Cam and Machine Control Software. We are testing your Software also under Linux ( No is not mistake ) There is kind software translation platform that allow to start your software also in Linux At the moment I provided first Gcodes still left to test controling of the Machine via Arduino UNO. I was hope to talk and tell You all this informations in Berlin. So now we are Done :)
