Live 10 miles from where it was launched. Got to watch it live, was awesome.
Wow.. wish I could have been there.
You can only be at your best with the support from all. Cheering you on!!
+Helene Patel Thanks. Appreciate the support!😆
Amazing as always Marcus. KSP has totally got me like a kid again enjoying space, rockets and everything else related. Those damn landings on the drone ship are mind boggling. I hope I am alive when we land a person safely on Mars but I think for sure it will happen in my kids lifetime. Cheers!
I hope so too :)
i had full volume on for some reason and as soon as you said "hey hey" my ears exploded
Oh... well that is unfortunate... I've done this to myself too :)
Very nice Marcus. You need to put together a drone ship for the next video!
Yes, problem with the Realism Overhaul and associated mods here is you can only throttle back to the 60%, so you have to do a full suicide burn to land it. That is very bloody hard unless you are a computer. :)
Watching during iridium mission, also it’s cool you were watching Tim Dodds live stream of it (happening right now)
Mission a complete success!
Yup, it was awesome to watch that landing.
I may go to the launch, sadly, I need to say if I gotta skip work today, it's a 4 hour drive, and it's raining that day.... Sooo don't really know what to do
+Meep Ster If it were me I'd risk it. I've never seen a launch in real life before.
Marcus House Decided I'll go. If it's canceled oh well, still a nice area to visit
The launch has been rescheduled to January 14th due to weather problems.
Astronomy Yeah kinda worked out
Wooouuuhhoouuu a KSP video! :)
+Sea Bastien Back from holiday and back in action. 😃 I am working on a few different videos at the moment that are a little out of the ordinary KSP style. Taking longer to make them however.
Awesome! Great video!
And all of the spaceX rocket launches I've seen irl, since I live on the space coast!
Ofc the ones launched only in Florida
+Trexinator I am very envious. I hope to one day see a launch in real life. Living in Australia makes this difficult. We are not positioned well in the world for such things.
Marcus House If you ever come to see a launch, come for the first manned Mars mission launch. So then you can tell your grandkids what it was like when it launched. It's gonna be the best launch ever!
And one week later they're going to launch their last Iridium mission...
This contract was a huge push for Spacex
13 hours until the next spacex rocket launch hopefully from now
hi Marcus can you do an episode on all the goof ups you did
It's crazy they just did it again
Getting too easy now. :) Hopefully no more explosions at least for a year or two so they can get a load of launches under their belt. Reliability is really important now.
Where do i find the flightpath detail shown in the video at the end (time: 10 min 10 secs). Im looking for the location of the landing barge and in perticular if its visible for San Diego?
Thanks in advance
1:30 The fault is actually in the even lower temperature of the helium tanks which were located within the oxygen tank.
I hope I'll watch the launch :)
+phoneix 007 In real life?
Marcus House yep
Hey Marcus House. What mods do you use in this video of KSP? Because I really want to use these mods. Thanks! :D
The Real Solar System mods with most of the recommended Realism overhaul set. The SpaceX model itself is the "Launchers Pack".
I saw the real rocket launch on there live stream!!! 😃
Yup, It was pretty awesome.
What is the mod you are using for the F9
The SpaceX model itself is the "Launchers Pack".
What ever happened to the space-x mars colony ship series thing?
It was a 4 part series. May do more in future when we learn more about the longer term mission. Wanting to do some work with Falcon Heavy as news comes into focus through 2017.
Where did you get the engines?
How do you move your navball to the side?
It is in the game settings.
how did Wallace and Gromit do so well at this? x
what mods did you use for satellite and rocket parts?
The Real Solar System mods with most of the recommended Realism overhaul set. The SpaceX model itself is the "Launchers Pack".
Where did you get the SpaceX parts mod?

Question: do you talk while you make the launch or do you record then you talk over the video?
+GamingWithJose I record with voice over in its own sound file. Then I merge with the video and overdub quite a lot.
oh, cool. Thx for replying! Lover your content it is 10/10 ksp material :D
What about the upper stage? Will it be deorbited with a deorbit burn or just waiting to decay?
Samuel Frachebourg SpaceX doesn't tell anything about that, but I've heard reports about F9 stage 2-s having a 60 km perigee after a GTO mission. That being said, LKO stuff decays pretty quickly, so maybe it isn't even needed. The last manneed Soyuz third stage reentered just four days after launch.
As Kers already said, upper stages usually have a rather low perigee so they reenter and burn up. It's a uncontrolled burn up, but it prevents space junk.
what mods did you use to make this awesome vid?
The Real Solar System mods with most of the recommended Realism overhaul set. The SpaceX model itself is the "Launchers Pack".
why didn't you use real plume?
+Rocket Man Kills my pc 😯. Upgrade coming soon hopefully.
My PC is like 7 years old. It is embarrassing :)
Real Plume on the SRB's just massively kills my framerate.
Currently running an i7-2600 with 8GB RAM - GeForce GTX 570
+Rocket Man Going to get an entirely new rig. Suggestions welcome as I'm out of date with gaming pc specs.
Generally the rule I follow is grab the best gear based on the best performance for the cost (generally it isn't worth spending 50% more for a 10% increase in speed etc).
If you can wait I'd personally wait for the new Ryzen and Vega gear that was just shown at CES cause it looks quite promising, and it's due for release in the first half of this year I think. And if you can't wait, I personally think based off of my own personal experience that Intel CPU's are currently ALOT better than AMD's FX series (could be changed with ryzen...). As for getting a 960, which is still a pretty solid GPU if you have the money I think its worth it to upgrade to the 1000 series.
Hey Marcus, did you watch the launch?
+Rahul Katre Sure did. LIVE too. Check out my Twitter feed. Anyone would think I'm a fanboy or something.
does the upper stage fall back into the atmosphere on it's own or does it perform a deorbit burn?
It does do a small retrograde burn before it re-enters into the atmosphere in this case. Next mission for the ISS will launch right back to land on the landing pad. So next one will be a much bigger burn.
What happened to "Of course I still love you"? :D EDIT:NVM, I should just watch the whole video and not comment after reading the description :D It would still be interesting, why the one or the other ship is used.
OCISLY catches boosters that launch from Cape Canaveral, and JRTI is for those that launch from Vandenberg.
+Aizenvsanyonedontmix Yep. Spot on. 😊
why this video say published on jan 6 2017??
Because it was published on Jan 6th 2017. :)
lol sorry i just thing jan was june, sorry for my bad English!
What is the mod called that changes the planets?
+Johannes Jokinen Real Solar System and Realism Overhaul.
Marcus House Thank you, keep up the good work 😁
wait, but I found that mod, but it wasn't ksp RSS, RO compatible...
Yea, it was frustrating. On the mod page it says "Realism Overhaul configs for Falcon 9 "Full Thrust" are made by user @ReventonHawx and can be downloaded here".. which then links you to the page that DOESN'T have the configs. I ended up finding the config on the page before that linked in the thread here

You can see why I don't play a lot of Realism Overhaul on the channel. It's such a pain in the arse to get things to work correctly.
Marcus House Oh, well, I'll change that, I never noticed! :O
Which mod gives that fairing? :D
That is just the procedural parts mod. I had to use these rather than the one that came with the SpaceX parts simply because there seems to be bugs with the fairing parts that don't allow them to decouple.
Which Falcon 9 mod is that?
+KersZZ Thanks. Correct of course. It is aldo using a separate real fuels config which seems to be quite spot on. OMG realism overhaul gives me grief though. 😁 Still running that version back on 1.1.3.
i want to play too my parents are still thinking about it😤😤😤😤
Hi Charlie,
From an educational point of view, there is no game that compares. I am a parent myself and would recommend this game over any other for developing the want and need to understand the sciences around flight and rocketry. As important though is how fun this game is.
Charlie Fish Call of duty is way better and more educational.
Battle field 1 still fun
Oscar Cabral I do know this is rather 'late', but I'm going to say it anyway. While Battlefield might teach you a few things about how to kill people (because that is, of course, a very valuable life skill), Kerbal Space Program teaches (basic, but still true) things about rocketry. Both games have a 'connection' to real life, but I'd say that KSP certainly is far more educational than Battlefield. It does depend on what exactly it is one wants to learn about, though.
what mod is that ?
spacedock.info/mod/269/SpaceX%20Launch%20Vehicles
Also added to description.
Marcus House thanks
but but my iridum flares...
the craft I just send to moho one hour ago is creepely simular to your craft and I hadnt even seen the video
It's so hot we're I'm am
SO CLOSE TO BEING FIRST
thats not a problem for Elon ..
well, now deorbit the 2nd stage.
+The Droplett I'm actually not 100% sure how they plan the stage 2 reentry in a polar orbit. They don't often show any of this for some reason. Literally would only take a few seconds to do the deorbit burn.
+Marcus House burn at the poles. the atmosphere on equator should do the job. at least in the real world.
the um ahem falcon heavy ahem could've launched it easily ahem SpaceX listen up.
O
