“Labour Voters Shifting To Nigel Farage” | Dr David Bull | Ryan Sabey

  • Опубліковано 12 жов 2024
  • Dr David Bull is joined by Deputy Political Editor for The Sun to discuss the latest stories in British politics.
Former Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond has died at 69. A key figure in the Scottish independence movement, Salmond led Scotland from 2007 until 2014, stepping down after the independence referendum failed. He collapsed after a speech in North Macedonia. Salmond also led the SNP to a major win in 2011, laying the groundwork for the independence vote.
Meanwhile, in the race for the Tory leadership, Robert Jenrick and Kemi Badenoch are now the final two contenders for the Party leader after James Cleverly was eliminated. In a final vote by Tory MPs on Wednesday, Badenoch emerged as the favorite with 42 votes, regaining her lead after trailing in earlier rounds. Jenrick, her main competitor, received one vote less, while Cleverly, considered a unifying figure, secured 37 votes but was knocked out. Conservative Party members will now decide between Badenoch and Jenrick.
And Sir Keir Starmer's approval ratings are the lowest of any Prime Minister on record within their first 100 days in charge. His government has faced scandals, including the "freebies" controversy, a No. 10 power struggle, and plummeting approval ratings. Despite challenges, such as economic concerns and rising immigration, Starmer aims to refocus on the economy and major policy reforms, like renationalising rail and expanding workers' rights.

I am sorry to hear the news of the death of Alex Salmond. He was a giant in the world of politics and his drive and ambition for Scottish Independence , whether you agreed with that or not, was sincere and genuine . There are few politicians of his caliber these days

Who would believe a single promise that the Tories make anymore? Even if the leadership candidates actually intend to keep said promises, they will be backstabbed and changed within a month of getting voted in and then more of the same!

@@emstirling-is4nu I don’t think so. Most Labour voters today are middle class university educated dyed in the wool leftists often working in the public sector. They aren’t anti immigrant, they dislike Nigel Farage who they see as a fascist. The notion that the working class still votes Labour is for the birds. They haven’t done so for a long time and already are the base of reform by and large. But regardless he’s far from unbiased!
