    Here is something Sadhguru said that really struck a chord inside of me: "You don't raise a child, you raise cattle, you have to cultivate a child." Let them become their own selves.

    Educating a dog and educating a child really is the same thing in the end”. This is what I was told by my mother. The road back to myself is a life’s lesson and one hell of a learning curve. To not repeat these patterns with my children has been and still is a challenge. I think not only parents, but school systems should learn from this video.

    Thank you. I do some of these with my niece and nephews and they EAT it up, they love it, they laugh and they look up to me with bright eyes when I hold their face and look at them in the eyes and tell them how loveable and smart they are. I tell them they are talented, and love how they are themselves, and how they are valuable, and how amazing they will be and how they will become whatever they want to be and attain in life. They are only 2, 4, and 6.. They eat it up and it lights up my heart.

    "Be amongst the best," gosh this is really something I need to hear. Being good at something then being introduced to a whole community that is doing way more advance than you, can kill confidence. But by thinking this way, "be amongst the best," is really a game changer! I am tearing up at this! Thank youuu!

      And what if you r not among the best??? Should that make you feel like a failure???? I tell my daughter nobody is the best, we all have value whether we lose or win. The one who gets the best mark has the same value with the one who gets the lowest mark. I tell my daughter we r all the bestest no matter what. There is not one best, or an elite best. Wer all humans and wd r worthy just because we exist just because we are, because we all are children of God

    Marisa it would be nice if you would make a video on the different attachment styles and how to heal them.

    • @legdaytacos62
      @legdaytacos62 4 роки тому +4

      Roshall Lambert I healed mind (anxious), by studying the male psychology (I’m a woman). And by hanging out with men. They don’t get as many girls as we all think. And they are all very insecure in fact. You have nothing to worry about. Most men aren’t great so stop putting them on a pedestal . You are the queen.
      Read: the rules by Ellen fein
      Read :why men love bitches
      Watch: Matthew hussey to learn how to a high value woman. But some of his dating advice are too masculine. The best in English to learn how to date in your feminine essence are Elliot Scott, dr Antonio, Matt Boggs.
      Do: inner work. Meditation, say “i love myself “ often,Work on your looks. Be hot. Kill the gym, eat well. Spend a lot of time with people that are loving and confident.

    • @roshalllambert
      @roshalllambert 4 роки тому +2

      @@legdaytacos62 Thank you for your tips. I think understanding male psychology and the meditation would be a good idea. I am a female with Avoidant attachment style and few months ago I just started working on myself to become secure. I am facing some points of resistance while I am trying to heal to but I am gradually moving towards more secure through belief reprogramming and somatic work. I was just curious to know how much time did it take for you to heal your attachment?

    • @legdaytacos62
      @legdaytacos62 4 роки тому +1

      Roshall Lambert I had the anxious attachement style so it’s different. I’m not familiar with the anxious attachement style .Maybe for you you need to teach yourself that love is a good thing. Are you a masculine woman ? For me it was teaching myself that I don’t need to work hard for love. I had to heal my wounded feminity. I’m everything a quality man would love to have.
      I’m not sure about how long it took me. You will know if you healed with your next relationship I guess or the next time there is someone you really like :).
      I don’t need constant texts anymore. I don’t need to worry about other women either.

    • @roshalllambert
      @roshalllambert 4 роки тому +1

      Legday Tacos Thanks for the tips. I do need to trust relationships more for me my beliefs about relationships were that men always use women, I cannot trust men, relationships make you feel trapped etc. This is because of my own past history and I need to reprogram this. I would not say I am a masculine female but I do have certain traits like hating relying on other people, being analytical, being withdrawn and closed off which can be considered non feminine.

    I am a single parent or two, as a child I was questioned why I was not good at certain subjects. Now in my mid 30’s I believe everything you have said brings a different perspective to bringing up children and even the way I see myself. Both children are different, however share many similarities. I have learnt to not shadow what my parents believed was best for me. I love helping others, I realise that is my purpose in life. You are an incredible woman who brings out the best in people!! Encouraging my children to pursue what makes them happy and I want to say thank you! Thank you for your time and energy over many videos you upload and share. You are amazing Marisa! Abundance to you and your beautiful family.... many blessings x

    Indeed! My child is an individual. What makes me happy may not make him happy. He has his own gifts and talents different from mine (or the most successful/wealthy person in town). Realizing this alone and being conscious about it can make a huge difference in parenting.

    Thank you marisa for sharing this.
    I shared your video with a mother who's frustrated about her daughter's eating habits which caused her to gain weight and she's in adolescent's age now. After nutritional assessment as I'm a dietitian i found out the root cause was her parent's pressuring her with the idea of dieting and consistent demand on weighing heeself on a scale every week.
    Parenting tips are so important for us as dietitians to know as it enlightens our thoughts and allows us to intervene in trying to change the mindset of parents so that they won't affect their children's psychological and mental health.
    Thanks again for this video and all the knowledgeable info.

    Thanks for sharing your wìsdom. I am trying very hard to inspire my children to say what they feel/ think as I was never allowed to stand up for myself...during my childhood and even now with their father. When they/ we disagree about something he will just say 'stop it' and don't even allow you to say how you feel. This is killing my family... no communication with someone who whants to be respected.

    Miss Marisa Peer...im so glad i stumbled across your appearance at mindvalley...
    Youve stated if we would like to hear about something let you know...
    Well, I know you have done a video on Loss and Grief...i know you say let it out when you feel like crying. And all the stages of loss and grief...
    But i feel completely overwhelmed as of lately...
    You see i lost my father. May 2016.
    I lost my mother almost exactly a year later right after Mothers Day and few days after my Dads birthday in May. We were a very big family. 5 kids. Umpteen grandkids and great grandkids. Nieces, nephews...etc
    Well im still not over my mom and dad..and recently I lost my 37 yr old daughter in a matter of a day...June 26th 2020. I don't have time to tell the whole story of my crazy life.....from get to go.
    I just don't know when my pain will ever stop in the last few years and now the loss of my 37yr daughter almost did me in i feel things are almost too overwhelming.
    I feel tired,exhausted, stressed cry at the drop of a hat
    And i dont know or feel like theres a light and tunnel. I feel like i cant breathe sometimes and i just feel in despair and agony over my parents. Now my very happy,smiling ray of light is no longer with us.i only need to see or hear something familiar and im crying wherever i am and crying hard.
    Please if theres a hypnosis or something i can do to develope some kind of coping skills.
    Ive never been this sad my whole life.

    Thank you for this wonderful video. It brings me to tears how critical I've been with my now grown children since they were little. Sure enough I see the negative results now.
    How do I repair what's been broken?
    I had a sense of conviction. I quickly noticed the pattern. Im now on a mission to being a better parent with my little ones. I dont want make the same mistake of the past
    Thank you and God bless

    Thank you so much for this video. I've already started to apply some of the language that you use with my son so I really appreciate having this extra support!
    Personally I can be quite angry with myself when I act impulsively or do or say things that I regret... I am trying to get better at stopping the impulse before it comes out -- but often I end up beating up on myself and falling into a deep abyss of self hate.
    I have been listening to some of your self-love and confidence meditations -- but I find sometimes in describing what people do you use a lot of negative words as examples of what people say to themselves... when I hear these, however, I feel as if I am imprinting these words on my subconscious.... I feel so susceptible to any negativity... Could you please make more short self-love videos with just the positive words and not any 'nots' as you have been training me to hear?
    I also struggle with over-eating at night and so I am trying to say to myself "I am going to eat just enough tonight" instead of "I am not going to overeat tonight" -- so my subconscious doesn't focus on the word 'overeat'... but I find it hard to effectively retrain my brain... so more examples of using what we "want" our subconscious to hear and not the "nots" ;)
    I am so sorry for such a LONG post but I have really been enjoying your content and videos and feel so grateful to have found you and excited about ways you can continue to help me as a mom, as a person who lives in a lot of self-disgust and fear of my own controlling actions (did I mention I am extremely controlling?), and as a person with eating issues.
    THANK YOU!!!

    Dear Lady Marisa, people think I am very smart and talented, but my child is truly extraordinary. At 3 he was on the cusp of reading store signs and billboards knowing nothing but the names of the letters. In second grade, he was assigned an essay. I asked him questions about the book he had to write a report on so he would have an idea of the things a person considers when they write a book report. His answers were insightful and mature. I wrote down everything he said because I knew he couldn’t spell or write as fast as me. Then I told him that I only wrote his words down exactly as he said them and if he just copied it over, he would have everything he thought up for his report. Same with a paper on Saturn. His cleverness gave me goosebumps. He came home angry with me, exclaiming that I had written his papers. I was shocked. I told him that I had only asked him questions and written down his opinions-exactly as he said them, clarifying what he meant by asking more questions if he was hard to understand. He would not believe me. Every word had been his. I should have gone down to the school, but with my work schedule and everything else, I lost track of this even happening. When he was in 5th grade, I saw a simple, well written passage in a book about why space was curved, etc. I had a feeling my son could understand it. I had him read it and asked him to explain it in his words. He truly understood the concept. I asked him more questions to see if he could figure out what this theory meant if looked at a little more closely. The questions were open ended, like always. He was very astute. However, I wasn’t a scientist. So, I looked up the theory and it’s extenuating principles and my son was right on the money! I told him to write down what he’d said and anything else he could think of and give it to his math teacher. He did. He came home and explained he’d been invited to build rockets after school and that he was also going to start attending the chess club! However, over the years, I noticed that he hardly ever came to me for help even when he needed it for his schoolwork and he would give up on something if I showed interest in what he was doing and gave him advice or material help like art sets for drawing. It was a long time before I realized that he may have internalized his teacher refusing to believe that he’d done his own work. She may have convinced him that he wasn’t as brilliant as he was. I fear he has a bad case of impostor syndrome. He truly lacks confidence and I don’t know what to do. He is almost 21 and scarcely leaves the house. So many people remark on his intelligence and he is still doubting his true potential. So, my problem is the opposite. He won’t apply himself anymore except in a couple of things. I don’t know what to do for him. It has been my honor that he was given to me to raise and I feel like I’ve failed him. Do you have a course that addresses something this entrenched? I promise you I am not exaggerating. When he was tested to see what career he’d be best in, he was told that he could work in any field he chose and do well.

    Can you please make a video on how to help children get along with their sibling especially when there is a large gap between them agewise.
    My yoinger one seems to just copy my older one . I would want him to have hos own identity and not live in my elder ones shadow.
    My elder one unintentionally brings him down and picks on my younger one all the time saying oh u cant do this and you cant do that ..
    I have spoken to my elder one who is 12 yrs old and tried explaining to him and he understandsthe impact he has on my younger one who is 5 yrs but ends up doing the same thing over and over .
    Please help.

    GREETINGS MARISA !!! That was cool....👏👏👏👏👏. Loved it. I know kindergarten Teacher's who are kind, very encouraging, very good. But they find it difficult to make children to sit at a place and make them write or read. Considering the portion they have to complete. Teacher's are prone to stress. Could you please do a video1) on how to make small children to sit at a stretch and study / write even if it means for sometime 2) on stress management for Teacher's 3) Recommended exercises for mind and body for children. Keep spreading positivity.💜💜💜

      Children are not meant to sit at a place , write and study. They r meant to move and play and teaching should be adjusted to children s needs, not teacher s needs. Learning through games. Read about Montessori s educational system

    Hi Marisa, please can you do a video on dealing with screen addiction following lockdown. You say believe in your children and what they want to do but my son wants to play 6 hours of Xbox and become a successful gamer. Should we allow that? I can’t help but feel we would if it were football or swimming he spent 6 hours doing then we wouldn’t be arguing constantly about it. It’s such a bone of contention between us right now that our family relationships are suffering. Thank you
