I still have mine. I got in 2019. It's still relevant today. Like a mini tablet with a photo zoom camera. I can play music. Scroll the net, play UA-cam etc. Thing is since it is an older camera and 4.3 jelly bean is archaic at this point some apps won't work. But I can still access them through Google browser. In regards to the camera. The pictures are bright, the video quality is good for my use the only thing I would want is a flip up screen. So I upgraded the camera to power shot sx 740. But I'm keeping my galaxy camera because I can use it has a mic input. Either way cameras are what you make them.
@Karla Margaret Tang unfortunately not. But it does have a 3.5 mm jack and 20x zoom. So I am sure that is possible. Unfortunately I gave mine to a relative and decided to get an upgrade. But still it is a great camera. Caution though it is very grainy in low light situations. And it no longer can accept system updates. But for what it is it was great.
@sprintbox I fail to see the point in carrying around two devices, for example an S3 and a Galaxy camera, it's essentially an S3 with a motorised zoom lens. That can't make calls but the user would still require two sim cards to own both, it would make more sense to be able to tether the camera to an existing connection. And the shutter delay is appauling, and please do not make assumptions about my not having toyed with one....
I got this camera, everything about it is amazing, although when taking a video, the speaker doesn't pick up much sound and the videos sound pretty weird. But overall the camera it's self is great!

Buying a new battery while orignal charges its drops quickly though i have not changed the dispay setting to use less battery power i would never have bought one new too expensive but now i have one will see how good it wabgot it connected to my wifi but i cant get it to load google play to up date the apps which s a bummer.i suspect being an s3 based system back up for it have long ceased and i dont use drop box. We shall see how itbpans out in2024

I'm a samsung rep, and I personally recommend paying the same price for the NX-1000 as that comes with a 7" tab 2 until jan 9th 2013 which on it's own is £158. That way you get an APS-C CMOS camera with interchangable lenses and a bigger tablet. Sure they're not on whole device, but you get uncompromised pro images. (Feel more than free to bump this if you feel it helps others make a purchase)
Any device with Android OS or iOS for that matter can be used as a phone.. Regardless of what people THINK its for.. So this device kicks all kinds of ass... If people know how to use it lol.. Photo Sphere would look great on this i think too.. So far i haven't seen that on it yet though.. Only downer on this might be the overall battery life..
this camera does the job, I got mine a week ago for around $400. It's pretty much a S3 with a better camera (better camera hardware and firmware). The only thing you can't do is make a call (but you CAN make calls via VIBER or other similar apps). And yes you can send/receive text messages. This is the version 1.0 of android cameras, Polaroid just introduced their android camera with interchangeable lens (any brand) which is for a semi-pro photographer who wants instant internet access.
Great review. I love android but I don't think you could really root this device, as it has special software features to make it a proper digital camera.
i have this camera and i never really used it so i decided to sell it.. about how much do you think is the perfect amount for the camera? i don't want to over price it. its in very good condition not a scratch on it and has a case and screen protector on it..
My point entirely, I have got a SGS2 and do not need to even consider a Galaxy Camera for just that reason, I never said i don't like the concept of the Galaxy Camera, I just pointed out that it's pointless owning both, and remarked about the very slow shutter speed, just like the point and shoot feature of the S2 & S3 the shutter is equally slow to respond.
is it possible to make such a camera what people could attach to their smart phones? I mean that camera would contain only the optical lens, sensor etc, the xenon flash and a docking station to the siii or sii or other devices with an extra battery (probably or rather peferably), and to exploit all the features of the good optics, we could use another app to shoot or record videos. I hope, it is clear what i mean. What do you think, is there a chance that somebody makes this?
i have got this camera and need to ask something... am i right in thinking on the scene modes you cannot use these in video mode? just you click the scenes button and lets say night mode, then on your screen you have the option to take photo in night mode and the option to record video BUT it does not record in night mode or what ever other scene you have chosen...say the party/indoor mode :S i would of thought you could use these scenes to help make your video look better int he dark :S
I have this camera and am very pleased with it, The battery life is not a problem if you use it wisely by switching wireless and bluetooth of except when actually wanting to be connected, like my phone more power is used particularly by wireless if it is on all the time. At first it seemed very complicated but after a week on holiday with it I find it easier to use than my ordinary compact camera and bieng able to connect by wi-fi to facebook,mail,internet etc in cafes and bars is enough for me.
hopefully someone can reply to my comment! I have a question, can this camera film in HD quality compared to the Nikon cam. and the canon camera? &what about when taking a picture is the quality prettier than the canon and Nikon?
With a lower price this could have been a really great competitor to point and shoot cameras. But at this price point I would choose a mirrorless system camera instead.

A camera with this design should be our future but somehow it has not happened. A camera supported by endless amounts of processing software through ios or Android has almost no limits. Somehow a digital camera limited with preset shooting modes making you a slave to post processing via an outside source, continues to be the standard??? Why??
How does it work at night? My samsung phone takes beautiful pictures during the day but at night unless there is light the images are horrible. Really considering buying this very soon. Need a good camera. Pls let me know

How many people would want to carry a cell phone attached to a bulky camera? To me a cell phone is a cell phone, if it has a camera, the camera must be less apparent.
when you're using this device in portrait mode, your hand will constantly touch the zoom / volume switch, and this means you're constantly changing the volume! It's a major design mistake, HOW COME NO ONE MENTIONED THIS IN THESE VIDEOS???
update: I actually had to learn to always use the camera in landscape mode, in order to bypass some of the issues it has. I didn't mind it, having previously owned a Nokia N900. Also, since this comment I sold my camera... and I'm gonna buy a K-Zoom

yes, I have one of these cameras ..and I am very pleased with mine. Battery life could be a bit longer though, that is the only downside.

Good concept, but considering that it's the same price as a DSLR and has the lens of a standard digital camera, it's waayyy too pricey for me..

The 2 seconds shutter lag is the only thing that bothers me. Other than that, this is a perfect camera.

You can put a SIM in and use 3G/4G to share via the internet, but no calls. I bet you could make calls with a third party calling app though
