    You've covered everything very thoroughly. The only extra urban type addition that I could think of might be a Res-q-me gadget in case you are stuck and have to break a window. Nice video.

    Have you hiked 15 miles in a day? I hiked 15 miles from the Oklahama border to Paris, TX. It was HELL. Let me tell you this pack wouldn't have worked for this. Water key, YES. BUT, you would have killed yourself carrying that AND the pack. Honest feedback. Not hate'n @ all. But maybe again the 100 degree weather didn't help. & I did have my dogs. AND I left at 7am in the morning which helped, but still didn't feel like it did. My tip is focus only on water and shade, and maybe a snack. Cut all other weight down in 1/2. Hope that helps. Thx for tips in video. Still watching.

    Thank you for taking the time to help all of us. I appreciate the list of items many youtubers don't do that. One suggestion, sometimes the lens was zoomed too close which caused the picture to lose focus.

    All great ideas! You might need a contact lens case and I've taken old Visine eye drops bottles and filled them with saline and contact lens solution to keep in my bag as well as a crush proof case with emergency prescription glasses. I really like your idea about the body camera. After surviving a SHTF situation you can review your video and critique how you handled situations and what you may want to include in your bag that you didn't have before. And in case you don't survive, you can leave your Last Will and Testament for your family as well as an explanation of what happened. Good video!

    You sure did fit a LOT of stuff in that bag
    I would consider rearranging thing so that items you might need quickly are more easily accessible.
    Seems like a lot of stuff that you aren't likely to need to walk 10 miles. Wd-40, etc... However. I think it is, over all, a pretty solid kit.
    I'd think about replacing your water bottle with a reusable container with built-in purification function. Some times you don't have time to start a fire and wait for water to boil and cool.

    great video and gear. I carry something very similar to that, I have it as my second tier EDC bag. I have another bag in the car and that's strictly designated as my get-home bag. but your bags I believe will work just fine for it's intended purpose. the only suggestion I would make is to get yourself a Mora knife. it's cheap, light weight and 10 times better then the folder your carrying on the bag. thanks for sharing

    Cool load out. Nice selection to choose from but a bit of overkill for just a 20 mile (maybe 10 hour) mostly urban walk. It looks more like a 72 hour pack. If you're using it every day then you could lighten it up, unless you're built like Arnold Schwarzenegger you might want to leave empty space other wise you'll probably end up not carrying it at all. Personally if I absolutely had to carry that amount of gear I'd go for a proper ruck, a military style day pack, even a little 25 litre hiking one so long as it has belt and sternum straps, that way if you have to run (away from someone usually) its not getting in the way. Belt and sternum straps rock.
    Just my opinion but I guess it one of those personal choice deals where you tailor your pack to the environment and your skill/fitness/comfort level. My pack is really an urban edc but could easily perform as a 20 mile bag/emergency overnight if I add a poncho for extra shelter. I do like your toys though and would like a few myself. 😉

    • @UrbanSurvivor
      @UrbanSurvivor  8 років тому

      It may be a bit overkill for a 20 mile bag absolutely. I wanted to include a few bits of gear that would serve me in case the situation changes and the journey takes longer than expected. My needs have recently changed in the last few months and I work mostly from home with once a week trips which take me roughly 100 miles from home. The other 6 days I need a "Go out and rescue the fiance 30 miles away and bring her home bag" so I'm working on a solution for both.

    • @301joey1
      @301joey1 7 років тому

      I agree, if your walking 20 miles its a major situation not a flat tire, the normal route may be totally out, 20 miles may turn into 50...LOL Hey might as well take care of your clothes, keep the Tide pen! I would break that cash down into smaller bills, even a few coins.

    Could use some additional items, but probobly the closest to best bag I've seen yet!!!! The reason for this is your bag is lightweight and small, you didn't overkill it and get items over 1,000 dollars like many people have. Keep up the good work. +sub

  • @zero11010
    @zero11010 8 років тому

    Have you used this bag to go more than 10-15 miles? With that kind of weight and a single shoulder bag you're going to get a lot of fatigue. Yeah, you can switch shoulders. Why not just use a two strap bag to carry the weight more comfortably to begin with?
    I used a Maxpedition Sitka for a couple years (commuting, hiking, walking, jogging, trail running, motorcycle trips ... I used it a lot). Switched to the Maxpedition Falcon 2 (basically the same bag, but with two straps) and it's hard for me to ever find an occasion to use a single strap bag again.
    The basic rule is for a weight greater than 30 pounds you want load bearing waist straps (yeah, you can suck it up and carry more weight and deal with discomfort ... just like you can just not wear shoes or pants in winter). Applying that same 30 pound rule from a backpack to a single strap bag and you really cap out at about 15 pounds. I'm 6ft tall and 180lbs and if I have more than 10 pounds in the Sitka it starts to get uncomfortable after more than an hour.

  • @ChrisC30
    @ChrisC30 9 років тому

    My only problem with using a Maxpedition bag for this kit, particularly a Fatboy or Jumbo, is that bags of this size and design are well known CCW bags, which can at least in theory lead to problems under certain conditions. Great kit, but the contents would do better in a less obvious container. A small duffel bag, or maybe a civy daypack. The idea for bugging out is indeed to carry your gear, but also not to stand out. This bag screams "I may have a gun in here."

    • @UrbanSurvivor
      @UrbanSurvivor  9 років тому

      ChrisC30 I agree with you to some extent. I think that anybody who knows about Maxpedition would probably assume that there is a CCW in the kit. However, I imagine the vast majority here in anti gun California are unfamiliar with Maxpedition and would assume this was a camera bag and I was a paparazzi lol. If I was going to use the bag for a real get home, I would probably also take off the knife, light and pepper spray and put that gear in my pocket to make it look less tactical. Anyways glad you enjoyed the contents.

  • @muddnyreye
    @muddnyreye 8 років тому

    I'm kinda confused , 10-20 mile would be a straight one shot push. Weapon , water, food than go. What would you need the rest for? This is more of a full on Bug out bag crammed into a quarter pack.

    • @UrbanSurvivor
      @UrbanSurvivor  8 років тому

      You are right about that. It is similar to a full on bug out bag. My thinking is that it's good to be prepared for the unexpected as the situation might change and I made need to go much further depending on if I go driving somewhere unexpected. A bit of extra gear might come in handy.

      @@UrbanSurvivor Sorry about Commiefornia. I'm in Tn by the Great Smokey Mountains. I have a Fatboy, then went to the Jumbo now I just switched to a Vanquest Mobius 2.0. I think that is a little better. The Vanquest has two water bottle compartments that zip shut when you are not carrying water (one on each side) when they are zipped shut they are also perfect for a cell phone. I still have the Maxpedition bags but I find the Vanquest better compartmentalized.

      @@UrbanSurvivor I dumped my Mongo as fast as I could. With the single shoulder strap, it was impossible not to have it be way tooooo heavy. When you need something that large you will find you will need two shoulder straps!!!! I am a gear and bag junkie, after also owning the Mongo once, you could not give me another one for free. I can say that I also love my Maxpedition Typhoon, it has two straps and I will probably be converting it to my truck Get Home Bag soon. It is probably the size of the Mongo but it is definately a great bag to enjoy and very easy to carry. Another nice diaper bag would be the Falcon ll (I also have one of these).

    LOTS OF BRAND NEW UNUSED AND UNTESTED STUFF THERE.
    You need to evaluate EVERY item in that kit and pare down a tad.
    Then get out and USE what you have to see if it really works AND if your skills can make it work.
    Also
    Your kit is very "spastic".
    Maybe organizing with simple ziplock bags would be useful.
    And yes, ditch the TIDE pen.
