He had a rough early life. He lost his twin. His mum died just as he found fame and he needed her so badly. So tragic. You can hear the emotion in his voice when he sings about the ghetto or loss or wishing for a peaceful world in If I Can Dream. The whole world should listen to that one! Bless you 🙏 ♥
They remastered the entire show and it subtly changed things. I have the original soundtrack and the orchestra did not overpower the vocals. The original was great and set the standard. But the 68 version before the remastering had a fervent urgency the movie version didn't.

I watched it again as an adult, excited to introduce it to my kids. 🤦🏻♀️ That movie is so backward and sexist, my kids were like WTF, mom? 🤣 There's a scene (you can find it on UA-cam) where Elvis pulls a teenage a girl out of the ocean who is trying to drown herself and his response is to put her (a teenage girl) over his knee and spank her. Why does such a perfect song have to come from such a cringe movie?
