@@newb529 Easy. The title of the video is "how to recharge and rehydrate Boveda humidty packs", and the section on recharging the packs starts at the 7 minute mark. So 0 to 6:59 is the "too long" part.
Thank you for the great tips on recharging the Boveda packs. I always use 62% packs. Now I will definitely use your method for recharging them. You just saved me a few shekels so ty & I appreciate all this knowledge. 💚
As a guitarist wanting to know how to recharge their humidipaks this video was the most helpful - so thank you! Definitely gonna use the non-submerge method as it seems much safer for not causing wear on the packs so they don't tear open and leak inside my guitar haha 😅
I rehydrate my boveda by just chucking then in a jar with a raw hydrostone, same principle but I had a hydrostone lying around anyway and I feel its just easier
Thanks for posting and including a topic timeline. I had success with both methods. if your packs are really crusty, it will take longer. Also consider using a hybrid method. such as wetting them every 12 or 8 hours. Placing container in the sun will increase humidity when using the drier method.
Thank you for this! I've got a few Boveda to rehydrate, and the timing was perfect. I used Integra Boost for a few years, then switched to Boveda. The Boost would dry out, and the indicator cards were useless. Happy New Year, Troy.
I'm in a black market state where I get fairly decent packaged fairly fresh weed. My 62% bovida pack turns back time and makes it fresher than when I bought it. Last year I was in The hospital for a few weeks and had a jar of weed at home with a bovida pack that wasalreadygetting old when I was admitted. When I got home, it was nice and squishy
I’ve found that harvesting just prior to, astronomical twilight helps maintain terpenes scent & and flavor. I’ve got stuff 1-2 yrs old that still good and terpenes scent when buds smell great after grinding
After a few years with Boost I can say I'm pretty damn unsatisfied with them. I don't wanna say they're a rip off but I've never had issues with Bovida, they just work vs boost that feel like they do nothing. I've also noticed Boosts packaging starts to fray a little bit vs Bovidas that don't wear down in my experience
I’ve found that harvesting just prior to, astronomical twilight , when terpenes are at their highest levels. Covers 62% mainterpenes scent & and flavor. I’ve got stuff 1-2 yrs old that still smell & taste great after grinding. Just buy new 2-way humidity packets yearly. If You have something good treat it good! Best wishes
I compared Integra and Boveda 62% 8gr in my Curing process and my hygrometer says, that the Integra makes an higher humidity like 66% while boveda stands at 62%. Do you ever have had the same problem?
i've had so many inconsistent Integra Boost packs that I don't even bother with that brand anymore. Nowadays I don't even use Boveda, I'll use a hydration stone instead
You can make ur own!! Lil bags o silica balls in your new sneakers, it's the same thing! Put it in the osmosis style plastic membrane as a wrap, and add moisture until it is squishy. Always use distilled or spring water to! Love ❤️ troy!!
What i tell everyone about the lack of nose punch when opening a jar with bovedas in them. Terpenes are volatile. By making a stable rh environment, the gasses stop off gassing. So when you crack a jar there should be no smell. You want that oil & smell left in the flower & trichomes. Take out the boveda & throw it in a hot car one afternoon, the smell comes roaring back.
Best to use the method where you don't submerge them in water. I use a Mason jar and a solo cup. Fill the cup about half way with distilled water. Place the cup in the microwave for about a minute. Put the cup in the jar with the pack resting against the jar. Seal the jar. The condensation will recharge the pack faster, assuming its a 2-way pack. Leave it in a room that is 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit. Use a high quality kitchen scale (make sure it can be calibrated) to see if it matches the stated weight of the pack. When that happens, it's recharged. And you can test the pack with a calibrated hygrometer. Worked for me & several of my packs.
What i found is if i submerge in water my bovedas 62% for a couple days then when i check with a hygrometer in a bag or container with the boveda the humidity goes out of hand at about 80% , im i the only one with this problem ?
Would placing dried out Boveda packs in high humidity environment bring them back to life? I had 2 smaller ones in my humidor over the winter, and they were pretty stiff/rigid. Now that it's summer and humidity has risen in my humidor these 2 packs are back in their liquid/gelish state.
so if the boveda packs are not hard at all and still nice and squishy.. does that mean that they are more than likely still good? im talking about packs that havent been recharged... nice video thank you
The best way to rehydrate your boveda packs is to wet a clean rag or washcloth and ring out as much water as you can. Then just lay your packets on the washcloth and fold it over. Fully submerging them definitely overhydrates them quickly and then you have to wait several days/weeks for them to dry out to be useable, the 2 plastic container approach takes way too long (for me that usually takes about 3 weeks), The damp washcloth takes a couple of days at most and you're done.
Oh shit I didn’t even know I could do this. I have A SHITLOAD of those in my homegrown jars and jars. And I LIVE at 62%. I have the bigguns but prefer to use a lot of the 1/8th size. I don’t know WTF people did before these things honestly. And their prices are going up so recharging them is awesome. The boost don’t seem to work on nearly as much herb. No way, the Boveda are THE terpene shield and are SO good for moistening overdry bud.
Before these I'd take pieces of paper towel and get them wet and put them in my containers. It worked but hard to monitor humidity levels. Sometimes it added too much moisture to the air and I'd need to let it dry or I'd forget to check the container for humidity levels and the weed dries out.
I used to take a piece of orange pill and put it in the jar for a couple of days when needed. Possible downside if you don't like it is the slight taste of orange.
Thank you so much Troy for this video, as always super helpful and I will use these methods the next time! I wanted to ask you about the brilliant cut grinder and the mighty vaporizer, do you put completely flowers inside the grinder on the medium plate? Or do you pull off the flowers from the stems? I know this is a big ask but would you ever consider making a tutorial style video from step A to Z with the brilliant cut grinder and the mighty + ?
I noticed the Integra Boosts didn't work and am now exclusively using Boveda 62%. I do find that the Bovedas kill the terps, so I may try some terracotta next time I stock up
I have noticed that bovedas/integras make my weed taste weird, i had a GDP and a few other strains from a couple grows back that definetly had some extra taste that wasnt there before, if you leave it in the jar too long if can mess up the weed, stopped using em and started to improve my curing tek and storing so i no longer need them :)
I noticed no difference between curing with or without packs. I tried the bovida a couple times and both times the weed took the same two months to get that full flavour. You may save time opening jars but who doesn’t want to smell the progress as it happen? 😂🔥
They are designed to be used after your flower is completely cured. In some climates it doesn’t matter but if you were in a dry climate like here in Colorado then they are extremely necessary to maintain your Terps after the cure.

Thanks for the info. Seems a bit more of a task when you soak them, why even bother doing it that way, any advantages?
Nothing but disadvantages by doing it that way. Best way is to wrap them up in a damp clock for a couple of days.

I haven't had any issues with them being over-hydrated, but I only re-hydrate these things like once per year
