    It's also not strictly "5" turns because a lot of decks can't deal with 30/30 in stats the turn after and just fall over before the wheel does what it does

      It's also not 5 turns, it's 4 because the countdown starts on your turn.

      @@corn307 Yeah, the fact that an empty deck activates Reno is a big issue.
      And you forgot the fact that there's currently a lot of Dirty Rat nonsense in play at the moment, so sometimes you've had a Sargeras spawning taunts for the last 5 turns and choking out the opponent on board.

    Lets be honest changing the Highlander interaction has its ups and downs rn. The upside is you could play those cards even with plagues getting shuffled in. Downside is Bran... Which is Warrior exclusive

      If warrior actually had to run singleton, I think the consistency hit would be enough to balance. Also, plagues is only one class; it is not like you are removing a tech tool against the deck that they face most of the time. Finally, if warrior did somehow get slightly better, the Reno nerf would still be worth it for the rest of the abusing meta that "don't abide the spirit of the card" and lower tier highlander decks could actually have a chance to not auto lose to DK.

      This would be a valid argument if Brann was actively countered with the Snake Oil Naga but like the other person said, there's no tech that's actively used against Highlander besides playing an entirely different deck from what you might play otherwise.

      I agree Brann is an issue but it felt more fair when steam cleaner was in standard. Being able to counter the counter play mean the chess match existed, now its just "did I queue into a plague dk? guess I lose" for reno decks. I would prefer if for highlander cards it read "if your deck started with no duplicates and contains no duplicates" but also make steam cleaner a core set card.

    Wheel of Death giving the opponent only 4 turns and triggering Furnace Fuel in a weird way feels like they barely tested the card. It feels bugged, like cards shouldn't directly lie about numbers like that.

      @@shrekkek9396 It's mostly the weird quirk that "Destroy your deck" doesn't destroy all of the cards simultaneously, and instead it destroys them one at a time from top to bottom. If it destroyed all cards in your deck simultaneously, then furnace fuel would always cause you two fatigue draws

      @@shrekkek9396 It deletes your deck one card at a time from top to bottom. it's always been this way. If furnace fuel was your last card it would fatigue you.

    Like I said when it was previewed, should be 10 mana. It's literally 4 turns for your opponent to kill you, is ridiculous.

    As a wild player I would like to add a small addition. I know wild is wild, but here the wheel is much stronger.
    1. Bloodbloom allows you to play a turn 4 wheel (or turn 3 with coin), and you often don't care about life loss when you can play a 15/15 lifesteal taunt right away.
    2. For some reason, one turn counts as an end of turn effect, so with Drakkari Enchanter it's just a round of playing wheel + a round of playing the first Enchanter + the last round with second Enchanter if enemy killed first one.
    With a good highroll it can be turn 4 15/15 lifesteal and taunt AND turn 6 win a game. Turn sooner with coin.

    Furnace fuel is working correctly as it is discarded. The thing is it matters where it is in your deck, as I've had happened a couple of times when playing wheel, I'll take two hits of fatigue because Furnace Fuel was the last card in my deck

    I think if they ever decide to nerf it, changing its rules so it triggers at the end of your opponent's turn is probably a good way to nerf it, right? Now your opponent will get 5 turns instead of 4 to beat you (maybe not something significant against slow decks but still better). Plus in Wild it will remove the interaction between Wheel and Drakkari Enchanter (the one that says your end of turn effects trigger twice) just in case it will become too consistent (but again, not like there are not other degenerate fast decks inn wild).

    I dont have that much against the Wheel itself but I agree that the possibilty to stall those 4/5 turns specially for Warlock is insane. I really think Wheel will dominate the Meta and become the new Tyrant like Aggro Pala, Shopper DH or the Sludge WL (before Whizbang), if Shopper DH gets nerfed and Wheel or the support cards stays untoutched.

    Once it activates, the only time I've ever beaten the wheel of death warlock was by creating my own as a mage and playing it first.
    So it's funny how he responded by playing it right after, showing that destroying the deck is more of a plus then a downside.

    Did you know that with Drakkari Enchanter it's also not "5" turns bc it ticks twice at the end of your turn so it's even less turns

    Burn Shaman is also a deadly deck that can win games turn 5/6/7.I can go WAy back to when Rogue was drawing their entire deck by turn 7/8 and no nerfs so seems really silly at some of the nerf suggestion I hear going around.Thjis has been playing Highlander War but War also has other great options which proves how OP the class has been for 3 meta.

    I don't play a lot of hearthstone, so i lost to the actual effect of it only once, when i thought i could defeat the enemy on the fifth turn and learned that there is no fifth turn. I ccould not believe, that they made a card that says "you win in 5 turns" and not only it gives your opponent only 4, but your last turn is completely meaningless. You get a whole turn to pretty much BM, because the game ends no matter what when you hit the end turn button. It's so sloppy i'm surprised it got printed like this.

    I feel like Forge of Wills should be a primary target nerf.
    Fix Wheel to actually be 5 turns for your opponent, see what occurs.
    I’ve been able to beat wheel of death about half the time specifically with a control DK by not using any plagues until the warlock actually plays the wheel first.

      100% correct play. When playing Wheel Warlock and they jam Helya on curve I ALWAYS cringe and then click on the "Oops" emote. If they saved it for after my deck goes kaboom, the emote would be "Well Played" into a concede. If you can clear the big boys, triggering unending plagues every turn while shutting down Reno (with duplicate plagues) completely flips the matchup

      Moving Wheel from end of turn to start of turn would solve the issue of counting the rounds (without needing to change the animation), and would also stop the combo with Drakkahri Enchanter in wild.

    Did people forgot Reno is still in the game ? Also Warlock have enough removal to Survive 5 turns

      Reno is fine, most highlander decks aren’t extremely competitive. Issue is draw is so cheap and it synergies with Wheel of Death that most decks can run duplicates and not suffer the inconsistency of highlander decks. It should be changed to an “If your deck began” effect like that 3 drop DK got for rainbow.

    Thanks, Zeddy. I wasn't really watching any reviews of newly revealed cards since... 4 expansions, I think? And I just _happened_ to decide to watch your review of Wheel of Death because the card looked just _that_ outlandish.
    You single-handedly created my - in-hindsight wrong - opinion on the card. Nice. :)

    Well after playing the card and ending your turn. Doesn’t that not count as a turn ? The card doesn’t say after 5 of your opponents’ turns. Just 5 turns in general.

      a turn in hearthstone is considered both players. a turn start you play your cards end turn. i play my cards end turn. thats one turn. its been designed this way for every similar cards before. except cornelius roame who clearly state at the end of EACH PLAYERS TURN

    The "lie" you mentioned that the card introduced was the primary reason why nobody ranked the card properly. I, for one, expected this to be activated at the start of turns. That's a full turn for the opposing player to inflict the right amount of damage and possibly the fatigue damage too. I agree that 4 turns is just way too fast (and too good) for this card and it should be changed.
    Reno, in general, is a very problematic card, as it wipes everything without triggering deathrattles or giving DK corpses and on top of that it limits the minion space you have to 1. At least one of these things will have to be addressed and nerfed, as it's not only a recovery card, but a snowball (win harder) type of card too.

    The problem with the start of game idea for reno is that you remove one of plague dks biggest upsides

      That shouldn't be a big upside to begin with. Plagues are already good/annoying enough. To let Reno decks suffer forever in order to keep one counter deck extremely good against them doesn't make any sense. Being able to play only one copy of each card should be enough downside to playing a Reno deck. Any further punishment that makes the deck unplayable goes too far and ruins all the fun of having that option.

      @@ForGeUT Reno Warrior is tier one. Reno DH and Reno Shaman are tier 2. The best performing DK deck at the moment is Control Rainbow (instead of OTK or Midrange Beatdown versions of the deck), not Plague, and this is entirely Illidan's fault. I'm also not optimistic about playing Plague DK on the upcoming "Dragon Priest Week"

    Right now opponent has 4 turns to kill you, so yeah either should trigger at the START of your turn or say 6 turns on the card, although triggering at the start would be more intuitive

    Why it’s good:
    Play wheel, play 15/15 lifesteal taunt, decks that can consistently remove it can’t kill you in 4 turns, decks that can’t take 30 after forge of wills. Plus, while you should take some fatigue, symphony stops that.

    this comment section is wild lmao. ya'll all act like every card needs to be on the same power level as pack filler commons and any card that stands out above the rest needs to be nerfed. there will always be a dominate deck; there will always be a meta. just nerfing whatever is the top deck is not the answer this early in the expansion. people are still discovering new decks and new interactions. there is plenty of counter play against wheel: just not if you netdeck every single deck you play with no consideration for slotting in tech cards to deal with the meta. same goes with demon hunter too. even zeddy pointed out that he knows someone that got legend using tech cards like rafaam. play and build reactively to the meta. dont just net deck and wonder why your getting pounded into the earth.

    I don't really share this lack of love for the wheel. It's the new occurence of controlock, but if not it then this archetype just disappears. No way to play this deck without a really power card to finish vilain and what's available beyond the wheel rn (in standard)? So okay, maybe leave one opponent turn more, but anymore nerf to be the end not only of the card but of the whole archetype, which is not dominant. And I'm a higlander war and hl shaman player, and I've been quite frustrated by the card when facing it (I reckon I opened it too so I've had my share of sadistic pleasure from it tambien!). Plus the card also brings some fun: the turns when it's clicking and you're desperately trying to throw all you have at the opponent lock are quite uniquely exciting in the game in my exp. Anyways, thanks for your videos and interesting points of views as always dear Zeddy!

    The most broken part is the lock titan. Forever giving them 2 taunt minions every turn the rest of the game is beyond broken and nobody seems to talk about that aspect.

    I still think with demon hunter nerfs, forge of wills should go to 4 mana. Even though I really like the deck, I still think the wheel should change to end of opponents turn and I didn’t even know about furnace fuel. I thought it would just fatigue you. Should change. This deck is also another great argument for Reno change.

      anything with burn make them fall like flies. hunter do decent too and i had success against them with rogue too. you have to think...this is a warlock i need to keep any dmg from hand for late game! so i can do that damn 10 dmg when they drop 15s 15s lol

    I do not like cards like you lose game or win game. Rather do 30 damage to opponent and have cards to armor up heal up to can be prevented.

      There's only about a 40% chance to even be able to play Brann on curve if you get a bunch of draw cards. It's a decent deck but it's solid Tier 2 at every level except top 1k Legend because the meta is different and it has more decks it counters.

    Personally I also dont like the tentacle decks. With only 2 10 mana spells both is good at stopping aggression against minion based decks and 1 can straight up kills you.

    I am ok with such decks existing.
    But it should give opponent five turns, not four.
    Also, I really, really hope they will change Reno.
    Love the card and it should be awesome payoff for Highlander decks not get out of jail free card for all stupidly fast drawing all deck decks like some Warrior or Wild Druid decks and now Destroy my Deck Warlock Decks.

    Yeah it does really well vs warrior but it's still not very good at dealing with sif. Once shopper is done wheel will still be beatable in multiple ways. Fix the buggy interactions and leave it be

    Wheel is the reason i went back to wild, literally 8 mana win the game

      Thats the funniest thing I've heard in while. Imagine escaping from 8 mana wheel to a format where turn 5-6 otks are the norm. Maybe you are still low ranked in wild so you dont run into it but I recommend staying low so you dont find out exactly how much more toxic wild is compared to wheel in standard.

      if you mean casual wild then hell yeah. i have sooo many fun games there. altho, i've been seeing the unkillable orb mage alot and that deck is goddamn 10x worse. it is quite literally an unkillable deck once they cast the handful of needed spells

      @@Banelock im a wild player, i know the meta ive been legend in wild many times. i still play fun decks im at diamond 3 with highlander rogue
      however i can still compete with the meta, Demon seed, timewarp, combo priests, mine rogue, auctioneer druids, zarimi aggro priest

    For me, the biggest thing with the deck is the stupid location (As has been my gripe with Warlock for a while)
    Fanottem as a single 15/15 played after wheel is fine and easy to deal with. 2-3 15/15's played after Wheel is much more difficult and if you can't remove 2 of them you're just dead next turn.
    I have a 100% win rate vs Wheellock when they don't have the location together with Fanottem. It's only when I can't deal with the multiple 15/15's that I lose.

    Actually, I saw and experienced a counter using the wheel of death as a warlock. Deathknight plagues.... let me explain. There is no way of avoiding this WOD card. I almost beat the dk. But he/she had plagues and kept shuffling them into my deck after playing WOD... just before the last turn of WOD. Those plagues killed me. On top of having no card draw, it also took damage to me.

      It's only a partial counter... Since WoD will remove Plagues from the deck it means the DK has to wait until after WoD to shuffle enough plagues in to kill you.
      This is on top of them having to somehow deal with your 15/15's which Plague DK doesn't do too well as it lacks hard removal besides Reska.

      @@tarille1043 Or you could be maniac like me who plays Highlander Rainbow DK. Hardly the best deck in the world, but counters Wheel hard. I clear their board with poison/Reno/Reska/Horseman and play Helya + Down with the Ship after they Wheel.

    Problem is aggro is kinda dead only a few aggro decks are good, the rest are slower decks. Without aggro keeping wheel of death in check, Warlock is stonks.

      @@phatal4573 nah aggro keeps control in check like treant druid was the only way I could stand playing against Odyn warrior. Now that treant druid died with the rotation there's only demon hunter, zairimi priest, and hunter as the only aggro options. Demon hunter is just busted due to 2 cards carrying it so it's getting nerfed. Sludge warlock isn't even really aggro it's more like combo. We just need more deck variety right now because it's either hyper aggro or control dominating the meta. Reno decks are fun and kinda midrange but they lose to Odyn and Wheel because threats are easily dealt with.

    Comment section missing the Mark on why the deck is strong. It’s not wheel lol. It’s forge. The ability to spit out another 15/15 post forge, spit out a second 8/8 on turn 4, etc is why the deck even gets there.
    If forge didn’t exist or was balanced, the winrate would swan dive. If your opponent is even able to deal with two 8/8’s on 4, the tempo loss from doing so is often insurmountable.

      dh dont rely on any draws? they get to draw that wep most the time! if not they have that dude on turn 2 to give it to them. if not turn 5-6 shopper is VERY GOOD IN ITSELF.. you have to be low rank to think warrior is good and DH is not a problem and is just a get lucky build lol. not trying to insult you for your rank its more a thing of deck distribution. i dont see a single warrior at higher ranks. i dont think i seen one since gold lol

    I think there are 0 problems with Wheel.
    Only problem is Reno.Because it comes right after you play Wheel
    Maybe you could make Wheel 6 turns and not 5.Simply because Reno locks you down for another turn.
    Forge will get nerfed to 4.Then it will slow playing doomkin too

      Except you can Wheel, and Fizzle, and Fanottem, and just tons of removal that means all you have to do is stall for 4 turns and then you win. Fanottem + double Forge is 45/45 on the board, with two enemy minions down instantly. And then you can drop Reno the turn after, Siphon Soul whatever one card they put out, Snapshot into second Reno, second Siphon, then you win.

    The Furnace Fuel interaction doesn't seem like a bug to me. Just the interaction is the Wheel will delete the deck in order.
    I've considered removing Furnace Fuel from my list, because it can screw me over against plague DK pretty often, but idk... the high roll from Fracking is really nice and also the Wheel should be benficial with it, most of the time, as Furnace Fuel just needs to be in the middle of the deck somewhere.
    I remember versing a plague dk and 1 of my Furnace Fuels drew 2 plagues and the last furnace fuel was bottom of 2nd from bottom of the deck. I just instantly drew like 9~ plagues and died.

    i knew this card would be good, i also knew that (3rd day saying this) that the priest cards weren't gonna be as broken as people said. Where's the video about priest still sucking?
    also edit: if they nerf reno how you want it, this deck will still be good. It either wont run reno, or it can survive with singletons. Ive played this deck recently the last day or 2, and i never play reno but i still win

    I've been playing a lot of control warrior recently and wheel warlock is probably my worst matchup.
    I think the card is fine though. If it does see a nerf I hope it isn't a major one.

    wierd ive had far more success with painlock im currently 14-3 played against 5 wheel locks and im 5 and 0 vs it idk only decks i see being ruff matchups against wheel lock are warrior for sure and druids I guess idk i dont see it being an issue it dies to faster decks and shits on warriors who only lose to wheel lock for sure and plagues sometimes not even lol.. idk i feel like the knly people who are bothered by it are playing warrior or something slower and controlly..

    The only time I was okay with Wheel of Death was when I hit it with a counterspell and my opponent immediately conceded. That is the ONLY time I have felt satisfied playing against this deck. This deck is way too fast and consistent. It sucks all the fun out of this standard meta. If you play any kind of "fun" deck and you queue against this deck, just concede and move on to your next game. You won't win, and you won't have fun when playing against it.

    I just don't like how every deck gets unplayable after nerfs. Big problem for newer players with limited dust. Yeah Yeah you get the dust back for 2 cards but the rest of the deck becomes almost completely useless most of the time

      nothing is unplayable.... thats in your head. i got to legend last season with taunt warrior. a deck archetype not even shown on hsreplay or vicious syndicate. stop net decking and looking at win percent, you can make itto legend with ANY DECK. this season im just diamond 5 i been busy and lazy. but i got to diamond 5 playing no minion mage a deck considered terrible

    Thank you for discussing it this card is super unhealthy and not fun to play against. I sincerely want this archetype to die, also reno should only work if you have no duplicate at the start of the game. Wheel shouldn't be in the pool of the tentacles because it's super annoying when a random warrior with armor procs it.
