Best card for 2 expansions in a row. It's been out less than 6 months, and is already the most nerfed card in HS history, still OP. Virus module needs to be reworked to make it more powerful on its own and unable to be afforded with perfect module.
I think a lot of cards ARE really cool this expansion. They just aren't competitive. Aggro won't let you live past turn 5. Zilliax won't let you have fun past turn 10. And OTKs kill you from 30+ health.
No..... Zilli won't let you have fun past turn 6 but this is 100% true. I want to play my fox pirate and grab different class heroes in rouge but it's just flat out non-competitve.....I que to lose and that's all I do. No, I'm not playing another meta deck - they all look boring. I had high hopes but they'd have to buff the shit out of Maestra and Fox (probably down to like 3/4 mana) for me to even give it another crack but as it is after playing for a week, I'm more frustrated than anything. I'm not uninstalling but it's probably time to step away from the game for awhile.
The first two I drew were the hunter ones. I feel like the crocolisks from Gilly need either rush or taunt. Sasquawk has occasionally been clutch, but often needs too much setup to fit in tempo wise. Specifically it doesn't pair well with minions because it doesn't trigger battlecries or keep any buffs (if it played exact copies of Adaptive amalgams and floppy hydras it would be better. I haven't tried it in a spell hunter deck yet but that's probably the best fit, or if you were able to play 4+ cup'o'muscle the turn prior, that's pretty good. The Chatty Macaw isn't great either because a lot of the best Hunter spells hit random enemies (Star Power, Deadly Shot) and the Macaw doesn't trigger those. It does actually work well with Char, but Char isn't that good.
I completely ignored the card because I thought it just turned into a random pre-existing Location card. There's two other cards in this set with a similar effect and they both also suck, so it was a reasonable conclusion, I feel. Didn't know it was more like something like Remornia where it turns into 'itself', in that mindset, it's probably pretty good in the right deck. Guess I need to do my homework more next time.
They already give away a few. It might work to make one of the random Rewards Track Legendaries into a random 'Themed' one instead. Would put it in line with old stuff like Frozen Throne giving a free Death Knight Hero specifically. Would also help for the inevitable Quests that come up in some event which requires a Tourist to be played or destroyed.
I was definitely a lucky boy on what I packed this opening. I like seeing aggro get some love, too. It’s fun to switch between quick greed and slow cooker greed play styles.
The meta must crafts rn are 2 commons(concierge and lamplighter), patches, and Zilliax. In some ways, it's good that this expansion is pretty budget friendly, but at the same time it goes to show that the effects of balance patches from the past did not do much to change power levels of the previous archetypes despite there being so many different patches.
It seems that the only cards that are doing well in this set are the ones that are miserable to play with or against. Finding myself wishing for rotation again....
as a suggestion either as an edit, or for future of these videos maybe give the final result in like tier list format (bonus points if you compare it to your pre-release tier list for that "perfect review streak...." )
I was hyped for the many different deck options to run this expansion, but many lists feel just bad vs the main competitive decks. Was fun to play zarimi priest with 90% winrate from rank 10 to legend tho
People might disagree with me, but I have to be honest about this aspect: Reaching Legend in Wild format is 1000% times easier than Standard, no questions about that. Anyways, well done for reaching legend.
My opinion is blizzard removed everyone who knew how to develop and operate hearthstone. The people running it now do not seem as qualified as they used to be. From the lack of creative card design, to removal of duels, to not having a new gameboard is caused from a lack of skills and ability to do so or just a lack of effort to improve the game.
Misguided effort, as well. Not having boards is almost certainly a result of taking those staff (3D design) and using them to make the pets and other mystery cosmetics planned for later. Similar to why things like Solo Adventures and Mercenaries were 'cut', it wasn't really a firing or laying off so much as using that staff to do other things, based on what they said and as far as we can tell, anyway. It all feels very mixed and haphazard, as well as suspicious, as the things being redirected to often stand to make more money directly without actually offering anything more.
The Adaptive Amalgam is a pretty good card in my opinion, I haven't ran it myself but im certain a death roll Amalgam will pop up soon as you can get this card to crazy high attack, can buff it with excess damage goes face. Can summon it with the fishing pole, if you attach a rush mech to it you can get a ton of damage through zilliax and otk with death roll
You can Windfury it, since it's a Pirate. That makes it applicable in certain theoretical cases with enough support. It's not good atm but I wouldn't dismiss it too hard. I guess a central issue is it's hard to handbuff since it must be pulled from something slow E.T.C. or something very janky like 'get a copy of a starting card', but I digress.
i also opened him and was sad at first but Tourist DK is actually really fun and crushes current aggro decksand the Frosty Décor can give enough armor to survive combo Druid, but you do insta lose against warrior if they manage to drop Zilliax
Current meta is so fast so almost none of the legendary from the new set got played. And if you go for the control type deck (Warlock, Priest, Shaman..), Zilliax Druid and Warrior will crush you. Need to NERF Zilliax asap!!!!!!!!!!!

I had pretty good success with buttons in Highlander DK manage to go some diamond 8 to legend pretty fast. The token stuff + Elisa helps a lot to contain the aggro decks and if you steal unkilliax with Raska/Yogg or you puff it with Reno both Warrior and druid gets completely neutralised. Gorgonzormu is particularly good against druid especially if you find it early, all the druid players I fought wasted so much resorses to try ramp up fast and get to their scam turn that I made it very easy to contain them

Several ways to Windfury and gain attack, lots of charge, lots of synergies. I cut the pump spells for some consistency, but I can imagine a world where +2+3 and +3+3 are solid. The drink has been a game-winner in mirrors. This deck is the most fun I've had playing HS in years.
shudderblock and carress works great if you've played a fire spell, considering she deals 18 dmg to the enemy hero, zola would do you wonders, making you deal 32 dmg with mini shudderblock
I tried that but none of the face damage actually did anything. I though since it was casted by the minion or something, it would’ve by passed the Shudderblock face immunity.

Gotta craft them all. Honestly I have the dust to go back and get almost every missing card from almost every expansion in hearthstone if I cut a number of my goldens but always hold onto the dust if needed.
Handsize gets clunky sometimes but I've really enjoyed having some lifesteal in rogue with the warlock drink. Helps me survive to have fun with the hero cards
vS Data scolded them hard on nerfs but they have a short window in the first few days to make adjustments for the good of the game or stale toxic stuff festers and people don't care anymore. Zilliax, Painter's Virtue, Pain lock - Giants etc.have had their time and basically kill the whole buzz of the new expansion.
Guess I got somewhat lucky. I got Vona and Cookie from packs and after some thought crafted Patches for shaman deck instead going lock (missed too many legendaries for pain deck)
lots of new Epics, Legendaries are fun/creative to play but too bad Blizz doesn’t allow us to have fun in Ranked due to Aggro, OTKs, and Zilliax. you can kill your own games, Blizz
I kind of hate to toot my own horn here but I kind of predicted most everything right. I thought the overall power level of the expansion was pretty low. We do have some decks that are killing on turn 6-8 kind of consistently. But not with many epics or legendaries. I thought the paladin leg sanc was way overrated by many steamers. I knew Zeddy had Griftah ranked too highly. We all knew Hamm would be a must craft. I think the only somewhat bad craft I made was Vona. I thought she would end up better in pain lock. I only regretted it after a minion I played had the death rattle got reska'd. I also knew zilliax warrior would become a thing. I did not, however, predict Druids otk would be as good as it is. And I also ranked the priest legendaries high. My most embarrassing ranking was I had patches at 3 stars. I didn't think the random 1/1's would be good enough. But everything else I got spot on for how things are playing out.
I only crafted eliza as legendary from this expansion. I have to say it's performing really well in my Deathrattle DK which is bringing me back to legend. This archetype is so underrated, noone is playing it but I'm winning over 60% of my games

What do you guys think will be the nerfs? My takes are removing reborn form virus modele and maybe making perfect module more expensive. Futhermore, adding elusive to Lamplighter to avoid rogue doing rogue stuffs, but I am not 100% sure if it's necessary. Concierge Druid has to be nerfed, but I have no idea how to nerf it, except for changing concierge's text.
What I think will be the nerfs? Concierge reduced by 2 health. Zilliax Virus Module increased by 1 mana. Lamplighter reduced by 1 attack. Orobos reduced by 1 health.🙃 What would actually address problems? If you buy literally everything you'll have pretty much every card, and tons of spare dust from that. There's basically nothing for him to spend it on. Even moreso the past year or so since he tends to go pretty hard for Signature cards, and the only way to do that for most of them is to get more and more packs which, with every other card already collected, is going to get you more and more dust.
I hard disagree on this standard, I was ready for Demon Hunter and aggro, instead every deck kills me from hand be it Druid and Mage with their drinks or Rogue with the bouncing elemental. I've legit died from 40+ life in one turn to these decks, it is insane. The board literally matters 0 and I have no way of interacting with the opponent. I played 3 games of standard and couldnt bring myself to queue for the third, terrible gameplay, I cannot believe it is worse than Wizbang, hell, I'm just done with ladder at this point, mostly playing Arena.
Huh, I thought I'd gotten pretty unlucky with my legendaries in the packs I got with gold but I did pretty well as it turns out I guess. I got a fair few of the mediocre ones and 3 or 4 of the must crafts.
Carry-On Grub is fantastic in my DK Eliza deck. it fills out the card draw and basically skips 2 bad draws sometimes It's infinitely more flexible than a 5 mana 5/4 that draws 2 cards and I am going to shut up about it now lol here's my deck that I've been refining over the past couple days and managed to beat 5 waves of Zilliax summons from a Warrior earlier. Imo, last set’s nerfs were absolutely not impactful, so now the new cards aren’t good enough to compete with those cards and decks from last expansion. I kinda hope there’s some mass nerfs of old decks, like zilliax (ofc), painter’s virtue, some pain warlock cards, some flood paladin cards, etc.
I'll be honest I don't think they should nerf Zilliax, even though he's the problem, cards that can summon him back should never been a thing... I think the way it's, we can't really go back now that those cards are in the game, so the only way would be to make a new rule where Legendaries can't be ressurrected, can't be copied, can't be bounced back, you can only play them once per game. And I know this would be a very drastic change to the game, but it would not only fix this whole Zilliax problem, but all future problems, Shadow Step that everyone is mad about, never a problem again(ignore the new elemental lol). I think this would make Hearthstone a healthier game.
I got most of the worst legendaries and epics and some mid ones. Opened 2 Dread Deserter and bro I only opened 60 packs got around 7+ epics that are all unusable. Wanted druids man
The only certain card you could craft are tourist, simply because accessing the card pool of another class in the expansion is advantageous in deck building
My paladin otk deck is at 70% win rate honestly I think people are just bad at deck building and to reliant on decks made for them which aren’t even that good

Announce Darkness should be removed from Yogg pool, i lost 3 games in a row becouse he played this shit..... And going into Warlock, this 4 mana taunt is actually 4 mana 6/6 taunt battlecry: heal your hero up to 14HP. Broken shit in painlock. SeasideGiant could be good in DK or Rouge decks with their locations, DK becouse u can get it even in one turn for 0 mana and Rouge becouse you can build low cost deck and in one turn get it to 2 mana.
I knew you overrated most of the Legendaries in the tierlist. You put so many into S and A tier when it was pretty obvious that so many of them would suck. Honestly, I'd even say Eliza is still overrated even with its numbers being "Not bad". I have 100% win rate against DK's that dropped her, she's just had such little impact at all on the game. Normally the way DK seems to win is by just abusing the location to keep spamming damage (Which is where I've seen lists that run Seaside Giant).

Some are more playable than people think but may need strategies that people see as esoteric.
I crafted sanc'azel day one and put in my hand buff deck it took me from top 3000 to top 160 in Europe leaderboard. Pretty happy with it.

Terrible set, Im dead from hand every other game. I myself am playing the Warrior deck with like 10 zilliax, it is just nonsense, quit ladder today.

Several ways to Windfury and gain attack, lots of charge, lots of synergies. I cut the pump spells for some consistency, but I can imagine a world where +2+3 and +3+3 are solid. The drink has been a game-winner in mirrors. This deck is the most fun I've had playing HS in years.

shudderblock and carress works great if you've played a fire spell, considering she deals 18 dmg to the enemy hero, zola would do you wonders, making you deal 32 dmg with mini shudderblock

I tried that but none of the face damage actually did anything. I though since it was casted by the minion or something, it would’ve by passed the Shudderblock face immunity.

Gotta craft them all. Honestly I have the dust to go back and get almost every missing card from almost every expansion in hearthstone if I cut a number of my goldens but always hold onto the dust if needed.
Handsize gets clunky sometimes but I've really enjoyed having some lifesteal in rogue with the warlock drink. Helps me survive to have fun with the hero cards
Warlock drink + spectral cutlass has been a lot of fun, haven't been hit with a Viper yet either lol
I was surprised by announce darkness, it's better than I expected if you used twisted pack to get a full hand, but yea it's not competitive
vS Data scolded them hard on nerfs but they have a short window in the first few days to make adjustments for the good of the game or stale toxic stuff festers and people don't care anymore. Zilliax, Painter's Virtue, Pain lock - Giants etc.have had their time and basically kill the whole buzz of the new expansion.

Zeddy may not believe in it, but outcast OTK Aranna demon Hunter is really fun. Not even Warrior tanks 50 to the face most of the time lol

I got Vona and Cookie from packs and after some thought crafted Patches for shaman deck instead going lock (missed too many legendaries for pain deck)
lots of new Epics, Legendaries are fun/creative to play but too bad Blizz doesn’t allow us to have fun in Ranked due to Aggro, OTKs, and Zilliax. you can kill your own games, Blizz
I kind of hate to toot my own horn here but I kind of predicted most everything right. I thought the overall power level of the expansion was pretty low. We do have some decks that are killing on turn 6-8 kind of consistently. But not with many epics or legendaries. I thought the paladin leg sanc was way overrated by many steamers. I knew Zeddy had Griftah ranked too highly. We all knew Hamm would be a must craft. I think the only somewhat bad craft I made was Vona. I thought she would end up better in pain lock. I only regretted it after a minion I played had the death rattle got reska'd. I also knew zilliax warrior would become a thing. I did not, however, predict Druids otk would be as good as it is. And I also ranked the priest legendaries high. My most embarrassing ranking was I had patches at 3 stars. I didn't think the random 1/1's would be good enough. But everything else I got spot on for how things are playing out.

I only crafted eliza as legendary from this expansion. I have to say it's performing really well in my Deathrattle DK which is bringing me back to legend. This archetype is so underrated, noone is playing it but I'm winning over 60% of my games

What do you guys think will be the nerfs? My takes are removing reborn form virus modele and maybe making perfect module more expensive. Futhermore, adding elusive to Lamplighter to avoid rogue doing rogue stuffs, but I am not 100% sure if it's necessary. Concierge Druid has to be nerfed, but I have no idea how to nerf it, except for changing concierge's text.
I bet they'll nerf Lamp by 1 mana, and maybe start from 0.

If you buy literally everything you'll have pretty much every card, and tons of spare dust from that. There's basically nothing for him to spend it on. Even moreso the past year or so since he tends to go pretty hard for Signature cards, and the only way to do that for most of them is to get more and more packs which, with every other card already collected, is going to get you more and more dust.
I hard disagree on this standard, I was ready for Demon Hunter and aggro, instead every deck kills me from hand be it Druid and Mage with their drinks or Rogue with the bouncing elemental. I've legit died from 40+ life in one turn to these decks, it is insane. The board literally matters 0 and I have no way of interacting with the opponent. I played 3 games of standard and couldnt bring myself to queue for the third, terrible gameplay, I cannot believe it is worse than Wizbang, hell, I'm just done with ladder at this point, mostly playing Arena.
How else are they going to deal with power creep unless they soften the expansions

Huh, I thought I'd gotten pretty unlucky with my legendaries in the packs I got with gold but I did pretty well as it turns out I guess. I got a fair few of the mediocre ones and 3 or 4 of the must crafts.
Carry-On Grub is fantastic in my DK Eliza deck.

Imo, last set’s nerfs were absolutely not impactful, so now the new cards aren’t good enough to compete with those cards and decks from last expansion. I kinda hope there’s some mass nerfs of old decks, like zilliax (ofc), painter’s virtue, some pain warlock cards, some flood paladin cards, etc.

I'll be honest I don't think they should nerf Zilliax, even though he's the problem, cards that can summon him back should never been a thing... I think the way it's, we can't really go back now that those cards are in the game, so the only way would be to make a new rule where Legendaries can't be ressurrected, can't be copied, can't be bounced back, you can only play them once per game. And I know this would be a very drastic change to the game, but it would not only fix this whole Zilliax problem, but all future problems, Shadow Step that everyone is mad about, never a problem again(ignore the new elemental lol). I think this would make Hearthstone a healthier game.

SeasideGiant could be good in DK or Rouge decks with their locations, DK becouse u can get it even in one turn for 0 mana and Rouge becouse you can build low cost deck and in one turn get it to 2 mana.

I knew you overrated most of the Legendaries in the tierlist. You put so many into S and A tier when it was pretty obvious that so many of them would suck.
Honestly, I'd even say Eliza is still overrated even with its numbers being "Not bad". I have 100% win rate against DK's that dropped her, she's just had such little impact at all on the game. Normally the way DK seems to win is by just abusing the location to keep spamming damage (Which is where I've seen lists that run Seaside Giant).
zilliax is fine, control needs tools, the nerfs need to be the demon seed and secret passage, stop nerfing control, stop ruining wild
