In July of 1994, I was hired at The Beat Goes On, a local CD store that had just added used CDs to their inventory when I started. Today, the mall barely looks the same. Join Rob Daniels and I as we take a look at Stanley Park Mall in 2024, a full 30 years after I was hired at the best job a 20-odd year old could possibly want.

I forgot about the Beat Goes On there but i remember some of the other stores that used to be there during the 90s, particularly the comic book store, Fantasy Images.
That comic store was owned by the family of one of my highschool friends! There was an A&A records too, until they went belly-up in 1990. The Beat Goes On owner was an old A&A employee - that's why he opened his own record store in that mall.
fun episde guys. there's a mall in North Bay (where I grew up) that is in a similar state.... sad to see where I spent so much time as a teenager pretty much no longer exists... Kmart, twin movie theatres, Records on Wheels, the arcade, Donut King.... so many great stores gone.
It's a common story isn't it? These malls just are not what they used to be. Now they're bargain clothing discount stores.
Something tells me that Rob being there was no accident!! 🙂 Fun clip!
You might be right John, unless Rob carries around his old Zellers name badge in his pocket at all times. We don't know for sure!

@@GrabAStackofRocK her debut had hit singles from it let it rain, fall from grace and dark horse all got a lot of airplay. Fall from grace was a top 20 hit in australia. I love the song Birmingham. Her 2nd album tuesdays child was released in australia but didnt do anything
She is back touring in Canada now. I saw her live back in 1996 and she was awesome.

PPS , Dr Disc downtown and Encore were doing used CD's before Beat Goes On came along
Did you have to fill out the quiz? We had a music quiz for applicants...
They were doing used, but they never did 99% used like we did! We were the only store doing 99% used.
@@GrabAStackofRocK , yup , and I aced all the older stuff and some current , but they had a section of newer stuff , pop stuff , rap , that whole later 90's scene .., I bombed that ..,
