    My parents took me to the cathedral there, not knowing there was a theme park, and wouldn't let me go on any of the rides. Imagine being 11, standing next to roller coasters and carousels, and not being allowed to go on any of them. Truly tragic.

    Thats why I like so much this channel, it surprised me when you didnt left out parque warner's chinese theater in madrid, and now im surprised to see the vintage Tibidabo from Barcelona as one of your videos, you are probably one of the few international youtubers that talk about these spanish less known theme parks and amusement parks instead of only talking about the better known (although they dont deserve it) Port Aventura. My hat is off to you good sir!
    As a footnote, I remember seeing, when I was really young, a black and white photo of the park with La Atalaya in my grandparents home hang up in one of the corridors, and that always sparked my imagination.

    I'm from Barcelona and went to this park about 20 times. Thank you so much for making echo of one of our treasures!! I recommend everyone interested in Tibidabo to discover it's history, wich is pretty interesting. I have very nostalgic feelings about this amusement park.

    This theme park is right up my alley: vintage rides AND a beautiful cathedral. It's nice to see a park covered here that didn't meet a sad demise.
    It's also a happy coincidence that the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart (i.e. the namesake for the church) happened not long ago. :)

    Fascinating! Ive never heard of this & that CHURCH!! It looks like Cinderella's Castle at the Magic Kingdom

    My Sister-in-Law (who is from Barcelona and who introduced my family to Tibidabo) has a great story about the park's horror walk-through, "The Kreuger Hotel." *Spoiler Alert* Apparently at the very end of the attraction, Freddy Kreuger pops out to attack your group. He so surprised my Sister-in-Law when she was younger hat she absolutely lost it and fell to the floor in a fetal position and wouldn't move. Eventually the lights came on, and the actor playing Freddy broke character and tried his best to get her to leave, saying the Catalan equivalent of, "C'mon kid, it's ok. Get out."
    This park is gorgeous. Most of the rides are designed to take full advantage of the view, but it is possible to go there during a heavy fog which kind of ruins the experience. :D

    • @TwoWholeWorms
      @TwoWholeWorms 6 років тому +1

      I disagree that heavy fog / cloud cover ruins the experience. There's nothing quite like being lifted _above_ the clouds.

    Interesting video man! Watching this video brought back a lot of memories for me.
    Personally, I went to this park back in 2015 when I visited Barcelona on vacation. The roller coaster was a thrilling ride for such a scenic view (despite being built for families). Airplane is a unique attraction never to be found anywhere in the world. In short, a unique park with a unique view. Enjoyed the park and this video. Thank you :)

    What a brilliant, unique & historic little park! I wonder whether the rumour about that ride curing 'whooping cough' is some weird version of scaring the hiccups out of a person... an open car on a giant rickety arm swinging hundreds of metres up a mountain in the early 1900's would probably terrify most people enough to cure them of all sorts of ailments! 😱

    You need to do an episode on Shireland. It was an insane amusement park in Hampshire, Illinois USA that was themed around shire horses. It was only open a couple of years, then sat abandoned for over a decade. It was started by a crazy millionaire named Mr Smrt (yes I spelled that correctly, no vowels), who invented the upside down spraying paint can. I live about 5 mi from the property if you need any help with research or need vids of the property. it's one hell of a crazy story when you start looking into it..

    The plane ride is the most unique thing I've seen in a while in a amusement park video. I'd risk the height just to say I'd been on something so one of a kind.

    It's really interesting to learn more about European Theme Parks, and theme parks in other countries outside of America, thank you so much for making these. Also, I love your theme music at the beginning of every video, I love how it feels like those old 20s-30s black and white documentary films. Can I ask where you got that music, does it have an official title?

      Expedition Theme Park can you do a history of the York dungeon on this mini series? It's the closest Merlin attraction to me and is one of the best walkthrough attractions I've ever been on! (You can't film in the dungeon so, for footage, just use footage from a historical documentary that is about the historical event the scene your talking about is)

    Have 2 extinct theme parks to request you do , Action Park in Vernon, NJ (infamous for injury and death, what the movie Action Point is based on) , and Freedomland (an American history themed amusement park inspired by Disneyland in the Bronx, NY from 1960-1964 only found out about recently)

    do you still take "requests" for extinct theme parks? If so, I wish you would see what you can find about The World of Sid and Marty Krofft, an indoor theme park in what is now the CNN Tower in Atlanta... when it was there, it was the Omni Hotel...

    This is the park near Montjuich? Had the chance to go in in 1992, but from memory, I think I saw a Boomerang from outside the park, so gave it a miss ;-)

    • @TwoWholeWorms
      @TwoWholeWorms 6 років тому +3

      Montjüic is near the coast, and Tibidabo marks the inland Northern-ish boundary of Barcelona. Both have fantastic views of the other. :) If you do make it back, I highly recommended getting the Blue Line tram and then funicular up to the top (the tram only runs on certain days of the week, so needs a bit of planning ahead if you want to do it).

    • @pizzaipinya2442

      In the 90s there was a park at Montjuic! But long story short, it closed and now there's a park (like, a normal park I mean, a park with grass and trees and plants and a playing area for kids xd)

      In Spain racism is not a huuuuge deal as in the US. In addition, it's a historical piece, so they can just put a warning next to the explanation of the piece just as how Disney does with its older films (maybe there's already one, I haven't looked at it because this particular automaton is not really that interesting compared to other ones in the collection, so I never really pay attention to it xd).

    • @joanaguayoplanell4912

      Not really. Apples and oranges really. Port Aventura is a more popular for a 2-3 day stay on the park itself, and Tibidabo is more a quick visit while you are on Barcelona.

    • @pizzaipinya2442
      @pizzaipinya2442 Рік тому

      As Joan says, the 2 parks are different and have different target audiences. Tibidabo is targeted towards tourists (for the views) and it's a 1-day park for barcelonian families with children. PortAventura is targeted towards a 2-3 days stay for both families and teens/young adults.

    The place looks creepy to me especially because of the puppets or whatever the hell they're called... For some reason I have always been creeped out with dolls but also the music playing in the background is showtoon type music is just as bad. It all reminds me of the movie "FREAK SHOW" & "FREAKS"‼️😵😕 THAT'S JUST MY OPINION THOUGH ‼️💯
