Review the better sax alto
I like the way you think, that would be so cheap...mind blowing! I need your advice on whether to go for the Yanagisawa A-WO37 Alto Saxophone Nickel Plated Gold Keys as a beginner or not. I love the look even though looks aren't everything, for me, if I like the look it makes it more pleasurable to play. I love silver with gold or black and gold. Kindly let me know what you think as it is affordable for me at the moment while I save up for one of the top Yanagisawa saxophones as a future investment. Thanks for sharing the tip.
A lot of what is cheap about these kind of saxophones are the pads. They use cheap and thick pads to make up for bad tone hole and pad leveling. I think if the bones are probably OK, if it had a repad with high quality pads and regulated all the key heights it would be pretty good but why put the effort in.
Hey, I may take you up on your idea and try to flip this horn. In your opinion would it be false advertising to say that it is good for children learning for the first time?
Thanks
Gonna be a great video!
2:56 who else just uses pad savers as their dusters around the house lol?
I'm about to use it to wash between my toes if I keep gaining more weight. 😆 🤣 😂
Ah well, $36 for a mouthpiece is not that bad. And you get the case and the carrying straps, too.
😆
It just goes to show that it’s not the equipment, it’s the player. You sound better on this than I would sound on an expensive sax.
Adriene, not only a great musician, a good business man! 😁🎷
My wife bought a Martin Indiana alto for $45 at Goodwill.
Yes GOODWILL does have a lot of nice donated instruments that you can bid on.
I bought my 58 Indiana alto for $65.. in 1973... Great Martin sound !
Interesting you said you like the Glory mouthpiece. I think it's the same one on Amazon for $10.99. I was thinking of getting one, and also a Fobes Debut. I've been playing a used Yamaha 4c I got with my used YAS-23 for about a year. Lot of teeth marks on it, which probably don't really matter, but still, I want to try some other mouthpieces..
Followed your advice and went for it. Ktaxon in this case, expecting to arrive soon. $230 including shipping - $150 = $80 as remaining balance on a Prime credit card $5K limit. Expect next Kenny G soon.
I bought a used Jupiter 767 for $300. Took it the repair shop and spent $60 getting it in shape. Nothing wrong with going used.
I have a lot of thoughts, since I purchased a similar product with the Ammoon name stamped on it. It probably came out of the same factory as the Glory. I fully agree with you and have the very same identical thoughts and issues with what I purchased. I hadn't played in about five years and due to personal loss, just lost my playing voice. I wanted to get back into it about two years ago. I went on the Wal-Mart website and found the sax for 169 dollars, brand new. On Amazon they wanted about 300. So, of course I got it from Wal-Mart. As you said, the best attribute is the appearance. I had the same ideas of it becoming an ornament of sorts, I was thinking it would make a very beautiful lamp. I didn't have a lot of money to spend, and was hesitant at the time about something used, like a Yamaha 23 because of what was going on with Covid and what we didn't know at the time. I realize now it is safe. The mouthpiece is the best part of the Ammoon. I hate that I can't get it to work below the low C. The foot on the high D key was poorly shaped. The foot sits up very high, and there is no cork or felt that can shorten the key height to prevent it from drifting sharp. The case is junk. If anything were to happen where I accidentially banged it against something, the case would not fully protect the sax. One of the case zipper handles snapped a few weeks ago, and upon examination I noticed that it was made out of plastic. I would not trust the backstrap hooks on the back of the case. There are metal rivets on the outside of the case that are flush with the case material. Those rivets are rusting, and the instrument has stayed in the house and not moved around this entire time. I don't think that this sax will last a very long time. If it breaks, the issue is finding someone who wants to work on it, and then finding parts, and then for the lower quality that this is, spending 100 dollars for a new case then another 100 dollars or more for repairs, if they I could ever find someone who didn't laugh me in the face. The is it worth it is different for different saxes. I most recently got a used Martin Indiana Alto. Most of the pads are in new condition, and even the few older ones still seal. Nothing sticks. I have no playability issues. The rods are very solid, while I found the rods on the Ammoon to be very weak, and if you don't pick the sax up by the bell, the rods will bend in your hand, then snap back into shape. I don't think the Ammoon will still be playing in 62 years. Now, in a few years if I needed an overhaul on the Indiana, and they came to me and said, well the overhaul is 450, but the sax is only worth, let's say 300. I would not have issue getting the Indiana overhauled. It is still far less money then having to go out and buy something new or like ne that is decent, but probably not as good as this sounds, or with features like real mother of pearl keys, soldered tone holes. metal thumb rests for both thumbs, playability, etc. If it was the Ammoon, it would be my new lamp and I wouldn't even invest a penny into it. If something breaks on it, then it stays broken.
You still make it sound good
Funny you should say a "decorative ornament", I saw a MK VI alto made as a lamp...!!
Should you spend little money on a sax, you'd better go used. A Yamaha student model would be a great buy.
The Horn sounds really good! I'm wondering if it is possible to correct the tuning in the lower register, or is it not fixable?
Getting good pads would help somewhat but your looking at $300 parts and labor. The low "C" speaks really well so there aren't any leaks. I think the bell is too short and narrow
You sound fantastic!
Or buy a second hand one for around $800? You should find some good sound, good ergonomics...at that price I believe. Should last you for awhile too.
"Imagine if getting four new tires was worth more than what your car was worth, and you could just buy a new car." Honestly pretty great advice when it comes to buying anything.
How is it possible to make a sax for that cheap?
I don't want to hear the real answer, Uighur labour??
Great video! My second sax is a vito(I think) alto that I bought at an antique store for the princely price of $100.It's a nice sax.My first sax is a selmer mark 7 that I've been playing for over 40 years.Much nicer.Your videos are great.Thank you!
You to good for us to hear any flaws
I just got one from a pawnshop for $170. I have quality instruments but I wanted something to take outside that I don't have to worry about.
I never liked the hot car, dirt, salt air and risk of impact.
Was going to get a plastic or electric sax but they cost a lot.
This is built like a tank. Bell is solid like it's cast. No dings likely.
Haven't checked it with a tuner but a few notes seem off. Lots of difficulty hitting the highest notes and likes to jump up an octave on the G.
Not professional grade.
The antique finish looks amazing.
Looks lots better than plastic.
Might be good to learn to replace pads on when they fail. At least I won't mess up an expensive sax.
Even knowing that I could have got it cheaper it still seems like a deal and I didn't want a line of credit.
I've never had a new sax and even though it's second hand it looks new.
Time will tell if it's a tool or a flower vase.
I love the last song you played, even with this saxophone, it sounds good !
I have that same sax (was a gift) i noticed the c# was just weird sounding too. Very off sounding. But it got me motivated into buying a new decent alto.
I also use it primarily as a wall decoration!!😅 I grab it down only when im too lazy to get my Antigua out of the case
I have this same Glory sax. I keep it in the car as an emergency back up horn.
LOL, nice
If you haven’t done so, please do an independent review on the “Bettersax” saxophone. It’s under $1k but comes highly recommended. Would love to hear your opinion.
Hey man ive been thinking of trying saxaphone as an amauter clarinet player, what alto saxaphones would you reccomended for begginers?
Can you please buy me a alto saxophone so I can play it through out high school
Do you still play Cannoball tenor?
Intro song name?
Mostus New Americana
4:01 and we have full comic sans glory!
It may be a bad quality instrument, but you sure do make it sound good.
Dude 🔥 it may be awful lol but your killing it
I bought one of these chinesium sopranos. Even after $100 at a local shop, I still can't make it play. It looks very pretty, feels reasonably good, but won't play below the low f.
I have 2 lamps made of Chinese Sopranos lol
Sounds like a money pit horn 🎷
Hey so i have one of those glory saxophones and my low c sharp is not coming out im pressing the keys for it and its not playing what should i do
There may be some leaks. The low end on mine was a disaster
Actually sounds really decent.
If it’s not made in France or Japan, it may look like a sax, but it’s just a decoration for the wall.
I dig the vintage USA horns...been playing a martin... sounds great.. feels great...
@@pgroove163 Oh yeah! I forgot USA! 😂
That's not true. I play a Jean Paul Tenor Sax and it plays better that any vintage Selmer Mark VI that I've ever tried.
you forgot Germany made Keilwerth. Also Taiwan made Eastman, Cannonball and P mauriat. And Italy made Borgani
Casual take, just not china really
Hmmm.. Calling my saxophone a decorative ornament...
lol
36 dolares?
Isso!

You might have to change browsers. I heard that Firefox doesn't work. Im contacting teespring about these issues. Thanks for letting me know
would you consider the glory sax a decent minimum risk/cost instrument to learn on,
I'm not new to music, but never attempted a wind instrument (beyond a few whistles and the awful recorder)
I would recommend only buying this sax under 3 conditions. #1, If you can get it for a ridiculously low price or #2, If you are a pro sax player looking for a project to work on or #3, buy it and play it until the return date and send it back for a full refund.
@@Sirvalorsax I can really appreciate that,
You got any tips on picking up a decent used one? Unlike a guitar, I have no idea on the caveats of a saxophone, what to look for, what to avoid.
You get a flock of geese!!! LOL!!!!!
My microphone picks up so much sound from outside!! LOL
@@Sirvalorsax I hope you get the alto sax you deserve, man. Great site. Keep up the great work!
@@Sirvalorsax bass 𝄢! I live next to a main road too, so I have to mute the sound to tell what's happening!
Yeah, that made me laugh too. I thought "WHAT did he just say?" and then I heard them.
A plumper version of the RZA playing the sax? 🤙👌Nooice!
lol
@@Sirvalorsax I was only kidding my friend.. Keep playing tha damn thang broseph!!! 🎷🎷🎷
@@dreamforfreedom I Love WuTang Clan!! LOL

No one should ever know anything about cheap saxophones.
Applying for an Amazon card to get a discount isn't what I call a real price or a real good idea. People have too many credit cards already and doing another with Amazon is the last thing I want.
Lots of credit card offers out there...shouldn't be taken into account for the headline "price" of a horn. Clickbait.
