I have always loved Anurag Kashyap’s movies and interviews but never thought could listen him being candid and honest for approx 1.5 hrs straight. Yrf or studios in general should hire him as consultant even if they can’t produce his movies. Also, these studios can lose money on Prithaviraj and shamshera but can’t give this person money to make his movies?! His budget requirements are always low. He said exact same things what general public/audience and movie lovers are talking about. Be it Jayeshbhai or shamshera, he nailed the issue in the movie. This was the best interview that I have seen in a long time. The answers wrt to why Bollywoood films are not running post pandemic exactly resonate with a discussion I had with a friend recently that it has become like an closed circle of South Bombay people who all look the same and whose idea of making good moves in career is getting clicked at the airports, gyms etc . How do you expect them to play a Bihari woman character or a Gujurati man with conviction if they have no lived experience of it? Also it was very fascinating to hear about Anurag's state of mind/inspiration for making each film mostly taking a small emotion/incident and trying to make the soul of the film speak that. May this man keep making his cinemas the way he wants. Will come back to this interview again and again :)
I agree with your point about that, now a days it's more about glamor than the cinema to the bollywood stars. Given the star kids era. But I don't agree with you about actors playing different characters. According to you if the actor wants to play a serial killer, does he have to murder people? It's all about how much things director feeds them. And about the studios like YRF who wants to throw glam, even in the rooted movies. People used to love them in the Veer Zaara times, not now. That's the main problem. Audience want to know exactly what kind of a movie you are making. If you say different and deliver some other, they will just outright reject it.

One of the best interviews I have watched lately about Indian cinema. You cannot just stop listening to what Anurag has to say. Fantastic interview with great insights!
Got here after seeing an emphatic praise for this talk on Reddit threads. Terrific conversation 👌🏼 A far better watch compared to movies these days. Only a secure and thoroughly passionate creator will give shoutouts to Maanagaram and Nayattu. His fearless observations about trends and people behaviors were WOW! Giving credit where it’s due (Karan-Johar- Dharmatic- Somen Mishra; Zoya Akhtar; RRR; burden of SRK’s star power) flowed the same way as the much needed critique. With the deluge of content and interviews these days, when was the last time someone spoke candidly and earnestly about soo many topics in such a short span of time? It didn’t feel lengthy at all! Yet I sat through 80 minutes of talk without feeling bored. Kudos to Galatta Plus team for having empowered BRangan to spread his wings, and get such gems for cinephiles.
Anurag's understanding about the psyche of cinema is amazing. His dissection of why bollywood is not working atm is perhaps the most important take. I complained about heroes landing in helicopters for their family functions being unnecessarily gaudy and who the heck is relating with it? I hope bollywood is listening to him..
What? Have you never heard of larger than life cinema. Not everything has to be relatable. By that logic we should criticize SS Rajamouli films for being over the top. The thing is different styles of movies can co-exist! We can have both realistic and escapist cinema.
One of the best conversations about cinema, specifically Hindi cinema. When two people who live cinema sit together this is what happens. Thanks @Bhardwaj Rangan for interviewing @Anurag Kashyap.
One of the best interviews by Galatta Plus. So much honesty & harsh truth about the Situation of Indian cinema. Anurag is brutally honest and that makes him special. kudos to Baddy for pulling off this interview! This interview can be used as Wikipedia by the New age film makers. Baddy/Galatta Plus has its own crowd & keep doing videos for them. Your red carpet is delayed just like Kamal Hasan's! But you will get them.
The struggle this guy has gone through and the gems which he has produced is legendary!! I wish all his 11 scripts to come on screen. Nothing would be happier to see the original story of him. Rooted, as he says 😁
The first celebrity from bollywood who is actually accepting the fact that bollywood is Detoriating and needs a change... Wish bollywood would rise back at least for this man🥺
I can't imagine this interview going on air in a Bollywood Hungama or a film companion.. Time Bollywood stops talking down to the audience.... Thanks BR for giving us this gem. I really wish you would have asked him more about the kind of new generation filmmakers Lokesh represents and how they are able to " risk" a layered complex narrative and trust their audiences to catch up
This wasn’t just an interview but a masterclass in filmmaking for the aspiring, Anurag Kashyap has the mind of a genius, where there is zero pretense and truth bombs being dropped one after the other. What a great set of questions as that gave us all a peek into his thoughts and how his mind works! His thoughts on ‘what is considered political’ and what makes south better than Hindi film industry were spot on! I just hope and pray that Bollywood listens to him and let’s him have the freedom of expression that he’s so worthy of - still can’t get my head around the fact that this man doesn’t get the funding and half his films and scripts don’t see light of the day ! He needs to be able to make his movies and tell his stories the way he wants to , he definitely has an audience and loyalists , brilliant interview and this is probably the only time I didn’t realize that I was hooked on to the screen for 1.5 hours straight !
Two intellectual people talkin where i cudnt skip any part of this interview. Kashyap knows what is goin on in bollywood, he talks without any sugarcoats. Thats the way to go.
Baradwaj Rangan is an absolute best when it comes to taking interviews, on point, engages the person with whom he is taking the interview, keeps the interest of the viewers. Others should try to learn from him
Superb interview 👌👌👌👌. Anurag looks the happiest when he says he has two finished films and about his next 7 films lined up. Way to go Anurag. And he is the most prolific among the filmmakers who make the films, which they like to.
Waaao Bharadwaj Rangan...just waaaao! Every filmmaker (esp producers) living on Indian soil should watch this. Amurag you legend! Love love and only love!
Such candid and in-depth interview with a maverick like Anurag he really took the RGV baton and made some path breaking cinema More power to him and BR Sir for his terrific interview
Very honestly, could possibly watch two hours of this stuff. Anurag's mind is a fascinating beast and would love to hear more. And BR's questions were top-notch! Loving every single interview BR is doing, have been mainlining them and I am so glad he is out of that Aunty's companion-ship and working with people who are letting him do his thing and as Anurag puts it - empowering him to ask whatever he wants.
12:03 Sieranevada released in France, and I'm pretty sure it's available on MUBI. Zoya Akhtar saying no to Hollywood is interesting, since the studio system there can be pretty stifling, so I can see why someone with their own production house, might not want to deal with that. Also, 38:06 is he talking about Ms. Marvel, because that would make a whole lot of sense
We look at our great filmmakers in Tamil and tend to say if they had been in Bollywood, they'd be appreciated all over the country etc..but looking at Anurag, the man almost feels sad to be in Bollywood being the kind of filmmaker he is. He'd be at home making Tamil or malayalam films it seems like. But no point brooding, Hindi cinema does have the widest reach than any other cinema, and it's time they also make meaningful rooted films, for the better of everyone. And he has to do what he can to change the industry itself to suit him. If he cant do who can!
I love to listen whenever Anurag starts to speak about films. His knowledge of films is something really different than any other directors of our country.❤️
Your this interview will do 1M+. I myself watched it several times and see people raving about it. I suggested so many people to watch it. It's a treat to watch a man with spine speaking about everything without any fear. Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high.
Finding it really hard for words to appreciate the interview, mind blowing is too small a word. For any aspiring film maker, this conversation is a must watch. Thanks a ton BR.
Anurag Kashyap is the best thing to have happened to Hindi Cinema since Amitabh Bachchan!! This singular 81 min interview of Kashyap provides more insight Into Indian cinema & its place now, filmmaking than an entire lifetime of watching movies..
The interview was like watching an AK's film where you don't want to miss anything & try to be invested throughout it. One of the most satisfying & comprehensive interviews. I felt like I'm talking to Anurag. Thank you BR for facilitating this for us. The most favourite part is where Kashyap says "I have 2 finished films".🤗 Thank you for existing, gentlemen.😌
Dear Bharadwaj sir. I have always admired you and the admiration grows with every passing day. This interaction (I don't call it an interview because when two equally sensible and knowledgeable people talk it's interaction) is incredible. It was indeed quite learning and engaging to see you and Anurag sir (who I equally admire) in conversation. Thank you for living up to your standard of being a journalist who focuses on content and sensibility. Totally loved it.
Return of Hanuman was the first indian animated film that i really enjoyed and in the later years i came to know that Anurag directed it. Though he doesnt like it that movie was really good. It would be really fun if he makes another animated film with his vision just for fun sake. Would really love to watch it
Thank you Mister Bharadwaj. I have been huge fan of Anurag's films. His films had the same effect of Fight Club. He changed the way you look at movies.
I re-watched 'Return of Hanuman' after this interview. Every time I watch it, I always get to see little details I might have missed in previous viewings. The animation gets a bit wonky towards the end but it surprisingly got the essence of lord Hanuman right. It's a really good film for kids too as it doesn't dumb it down too much for the little ones. 👍

@@maniish2165 Rajul Gandhi knows everything about democracy except win elections with peoples support. And Anurag Kashyap knows everything about Cannes but what was the last movie that won anything in Cannes? Joker.
Everyone's family is not low class badjaat
This was refreshing to watch. Watched the entire thing without skipping a second. So raw and honest. Very relatable.
First time seeing BR becoming an audience in the interview AK just speaks incredible Film language 💯🤯
I really wish you would have asked him more about the kind of new generation filmmakers Lokesh represents and how they are able to " risk" a layered complex narrative and trust their audiences to catch up
Anurag has depth (intellectual, philosophical, & his understanding of life society culture), this is why he is so good at what he does.
Anurag Kashyap 💯 true and honest. Director told true fact about North india people. Rich culture & caste & couch politics in bollywood.
These two guys are Indian cinema's important national treasures. I hope the country appreciate their intellect n insights.
Very well said..!!
same here
What an amazing conversation! Love the honesty with which Anurag puts his opinion across. Huge respect!
"Our films don't represent us at all" - waah! So true! Such a gem of an interview!
Others should try to learn from him
Every two minutes he is giving a badass quote💯👏 This interview is pure bliss to the ears
It's like a class of cinema studies.. brilliant interview
Such candid and in-depth interview with a maverick like Anurag he really took the RGV baton and made some path breaking cinema
More power to him and BR Sir for his terrific interview
Anurag is so crisp and clear in the way he speaks about cinema. Sad to see such talent not getting the opportunity.
Marvel, because that would make a whole lot of sense
his passion for films is overwhelming, gems like Anurag should blossom hindi film industry. guys please watch his film in theatre
Its always a treat to watch such incredibly passionate people to talk about their interests and their craft. Fantastic interview!
Your this interview will do 1M+. I myself watched it several times and see people raving about it. I suggested so many people to watch it. It's a treat to watch a man with spine speaking about everything without any fear. Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high.
When u have anurag kashyap then the interview will be nothing else but bloody honest n intriguing.
One of the great interviews and his perspective to films are so addictive ..
Thalaivaaaaa

How can you not ask about Sacred Games...thats the best work this guy has created
Its always GREAT to watch Anurag Keshyap's interviews
One can learn alot from him
Looking forward to Dubaara
Thanks BR for this amazing interview
This is called an interview where the interviewer is not trying to find the masala and let the guest talk his thing. Upar se its Kashyap man. ❤️
These days we are into - Making Intellectualist, existentialists Sermons - Superbly put by Anurag Kashyap.
This has to be one of the most informative interviews I've ever seen.
He is one of the straight forward man who don't shy away in speaking odds of his own territory...
Finding it really hard for words to appreciate the interview, mind blowing is too small a word. For any aspiring film maker, this conversation is a must watch. Thanks a ton BR.
Two of my favourites from Indian cinema, talking about some of my favourite films. Interesting take on the independent cinema scene in India.
You are a wonderful person Anurag Kashyap Sir. Lot of love from Kerala.
21:45 malayalam cinema 💪💪
27:33 fafa🤩
19:33 when Kashyap drops a truth bomb !!
this interview will be my guilty pleasure for this week.. i'll watch it completely with breaks
Anurag Kashyap is the best thing to have happened to Hindi Cinema since Amitabh Bachchan!! This singular 81 min interview of Kashyap provides more insight Into Indian cinema & its place now, filmmaking than an entire lifetime of watching movies..
Man!!!!!!! Such a wonderful and brilliant interview!! BRILLIANT.
Awesome interview. Kashyap Sahab is so fearless and clearly pointing out all the flaws.
I cannot say I have ever been more invested in an interview. Watching Anurag talk about films with that kind of passion is just pure bliss.
One of the most insightful interviews I have come across!
The interview was like watching an AK's film where you don't want to miss anything & try to be invested throughout it.
One of the most satisfying & comprehensive interviews. I felt like I'm talking to Anurag.
Thank you BR for facilitating this for us.
The most favourite part is where Kashyap says "I have 2 finished films".🤗
Thank you for existing, gentlemen.😌
What a nice and sensible interview, thank you Bhardwaj Rangan sir🙏! We always like to listen from Anurag Sir 🙌
Amazing Amazing interview, Anurag Kashyap just opened like anything!
And the award for The Best interview about films 2022 goes to this one.
All the Bollywood's so called top filmmakers should watch this interview...
What do you exactly mean "so called " ? I ll tell you this is just a english slang 😀
when the interviewer cannot be intimidated by the aftereffects and interviewee has seen all of that already, something like this comes out.. loved it
One of the most honest interviews I've watched. Brilliant stuff Baradwaj.
Who is the producer he is talking about?
Mr.Bhardwaj....heartfelt thanks for such meaningful conversation..
What a great conversation. I wish it could go on forever.
Amazing interview.. Learnt alot.. Anurag is wonder teacher
Absolutely loved this interview. What a legend. Feeling inspired to create after watching this, not sure what, but create
What an interview...thank you Bharadwaj Sir...thank you once again and AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN ❤️🙏🏻
