It's strange, I cannot watch any documentary about Sam Maloof with dry eyes. I am moved very deeply by this unique genius. It takes a hell of a lot of originality to bring something this unique into the world of furniture. The beauty and balance in his pieces defy words for description. They are not only objects to be beheld, but they are real functional pieces, born to be heirlooms of the future. He must also have been a very beautiful and deep person, and certainly an honour to know. Our sad world needs more beautiful souls like this. RIP Sam.
