This is my dream. A nice property, a shop next to my house and a loving family to come home to
you and me alike !
May all your dreams come true Hartman.Lord ! He ain't askin for much.Give it to him....;)))))
LordSear1982 This is true, I live in Ct, its impossible to find anything for a reasonable price. I would love to live out in the country.
Lennard Hartman and mine i got a wife who dont speak to me kids think im hopeless and no money to get a house like this ever life truly sucks some people so lucky
Mine too. But property are prohibitively expensive and good girls are extinct.
I've quit my good-paying job as an engineer and started doing woodworking which I do in the shop at the back of my house. I have never been happier!
I'd like to do the same
Good on you for foregoing comfort and security to do what you love. At least I assume you love it if you left a good job for it. Hopefully you can make money off of woodworking before you run out of money. Hope it works out for you.
I feel like every engineer wishes they had just went to trade school.
good on ya man! I think of getting back into it full time my self
Good for you!
I’m moving my shop into a 12’ x 24’ shed… it’s kinda small, but way more space than I’m used too. I just wanted to tell you that I enjoyed your video. You sir, are living my dream. That’s a beautiful home/land/shop you have there. I’m 58 and retired due to health reasons. They recently found six tumors on my liver and both kidneys. I hope to have about 5 years left, and plan on living out the rest of my days in my shop. It is, my happy place… I love it so much. I hope this msg finds you in good health. I just wanted to say “hi”. Take care sir. 🤝🏻
أتمنى من الله سبحانه وتعالى أن يشافيك ويعافيك ويمن عليك بالصحة وطول العمر انشاء الله وسبحان ربك رب العزة عما يصفون وسلام على المرسلين والحمد لله رب العالمين
Winning at life. Well played dude.
Beautiful 💖
You've played the game of life very well Sir, good health to you and yours! :)
What an inspiration...
Simply wonderful.
This guy is literally living my dream. And I only live about an hour from him!
Mine to but I live in southern Brazil😊
Same here. I'm working towards it, and this was a well needed motivation.
I’m in N. Illinois, love Spring Green. So did Frank Lloyd Wright
get to work then!
go get an apprenticeship
294 thumbs down, wow!!! Have we lost our sense of appreciation for amazing work and dedication to art?
What a great way of looking at life. Lovely sense of humour.
Working with wood is like therapeutic treatment for your mind.
Very true. I feel the same for myself.
Absolutely 🤘
Krazy fucker Yes, it is a pain in the ass...if you’re lazy.
true! ❤️
Very well said, it can be so relaxing and seeing the finished article, hardly anything so satisfying.
wtf the quality of this documentary is incredible.
Thank you UA-cam algorithm for showing me Eric and his craft in this wholesome video.
... 5 years to late lol
@@tiddlytimmeh9649 Yeah it only came up on my feed the otherday. UA-cam giving out the rewind love. Ha!
@@lozinja awwwww its rewind time
I like this uncle and she work
Simply beautiful ❤️
Living the dream! Great story, I’m retired after being a welder, fabricator and machinist for 36 years and now spend most of my days woodworking which has always been a passionate hobby of mine for as long as I can remember. It’s great to see someone who loves what they do. There’s something extra special about working with and building with wood!
I always said it was a shame they removed woodshop, welding, and mechanics shop from schools. Imagine how many more kids could be introduced to the world of crafting or how many wouldn't be craftsman today if they didnt off them back In the day. It's sad they remove the fun parts of school and just teach to pass a test
yes! .... instead of ending in some cubicle garbage undefined "communications" job in the corporate soul sucking bullshit
they ended wood shop in my school the year i left, i loved it much i became a joiner. So i think its sad that kids now would rather play computer games than make something to be proud of
Corporations need slaves to generate their dividents. They don't want self employment.
My 13 year old is in woodshop this year.
Thomas S Yeah that's a shame isn't it? This generation of kids are computerized.
"Why don't you just build it? I didn't need any more encouragement than that." Love it.
@Michael nice
A genius with a sense of humor.
This poor, sad world needs more beautiful souls like Edward to give it more light. What an inspiration. Thank you os much for sharing.
Ed is a great friend, amazing craftsman, and mentor. If you are lucky in life, you meet a person who changes your life in the most positive and inspiring way, Ed is that to me.
Michael
44 ppl who doesnt know (never knew) ed or you liked ur comment
Michael Larson I call BS.
@@albertledesma5173 lol
you are a lucky man for knowing this man
Michael, “...if your...”, should read “...if you are or you’re...”. Grammar 101: that which follow your belongs to the person you are conversing with.
I'm an industrial/furniture designer in N.Y.C/LA I would like to know who are the 166 people that gave this video a thumbs down?
This is brilliant work! BRAVO!
He stated, at the beginning of the video, just about everything a woodworker has ever thought :). Perfect.
Love the sticker that says
“ I would rather be reading Bukowski”
Haha awesome man... your art is impeccable.. gorgeous.
one of my all time favorite authors
And he still has all his fingers!
I think I went to school with his daughter 🤔
And the woodwork is so beautiful ❤❤i love it
Yup I was right😊
Gentle man life is very simple and best as millions dream about.
I’m lucky enough to do the exact same thing in England. I love my life and consider myself very lucky.
Aaron F- I'm absolutely sure you made your own luck mate 😇👍
Congratulations!
What a pleasure to watch. A true craftsman.
Sei una persona meravigliosa a creare tutte queste cose in legno, per la casa. Tutto questo proviene dal tuo cuore e dall'anima che c'è in te. Grazie mille ciao.
Who could ever give this a thumbs down . It made me feel good watching it !
this may look like a dream, but it's hard work. hard work you will never be able to endure, much less enjoy, unless it's really your essence. finding your essence in life, that's the tricky part.
True. The perceived simplicity hides a lot. Sacrifices were made
i watch this video like every few months, never fails to put a smile on my face. the more the world gets littered with nondescript, garbage office jobs in figuratively obese companies, the more i get fascinated with people who have actual skills...
Don’t know how I stumbled on this video but glad I did. Wonderful. Darlington, South Carolina
Edward is the sort of human that should be a 'celebrity'.
This guy is more energetic than me, running around, playing tennis like that...
And I'm only 19...
This woodworking book is absolutely comprehensive, *www.WoodPlanner. xyz*
It breaks every little thing down, using words, drawings, real photos, and different diagrams. It is incredibly informative and helps me feel like I can help my brother while we make our furniture together. . .
Every man deserves his own house a workshop and his own tennis court.....
Tennis Court?
Tlahuicole XIII tennis court damn straight
@@jarrettrasmussen4770 Maybe because ive never played 🎾... Seems like it would be entertaining now that i think about it lol...
Tlahuicole XIII oh it’s a great sport. Loads of fun
I disagree. This guy has worked hard and was passionate about his job, so he could afford a tennis court. If everyone could get it without an effort, we would get lazy as fuck.
I feel that smile on his face after he finishes the lamp he made. Feels so good to complete something
I’m first generation woodworker in my family would love to pass it down to my kids. Just as you have.
You live a tranquil life in a beautiful place, sir. You are blessed.
unbelievable video....this is art
Wonderful! Most important is your heart in these works. Ikea is dead meat. Mass production. So keep running!
These people are living the American dream!
Your love goes into your work and it shows !
Oh lucky man! Your smile says it all.
Wow!! ...There are still wonderful people around!!
Nicely shot and edited piece. Cheers
After tons of amateurish woodworks clogging the UA-cam algorithm I finally get to see a true craftsman. This guy is up there with the likes of Sam Maloof and James Krenov. Very inspiring. Guys like this drives me to be the best I can be at everything I do, whether it's working or making knives. I hope to have property and a nice little shop someday.
Mr Wohl, you are a true artist and craftsman.
Rest in Peace Mr. Wohl.... Your style and work is legendary. I always come to this video to sneak and look at your inventions and get inspiration for ideas.... Your lifelong craftmanship of the Art will forever be unmatched. I'm absolutely sure they have a shop in Heaven and you are surrounded by "thee" best our World has ever known.
Wonderful video, celebrating a wonderful woodworker. A joy to watch and a really cool end lol.
This is called a passionate living
Wish i could be the same
God bless you Edward Sir
How many of you want a birds eye maple cutting board now?
@twankyjoe hahaha, boooo
Amazing
vous vous montrez sous votre mailleur jour ,vraiment ,merci, pour cette embellie de votre conscription ,un rayon de soleil et un clair de lune
And after decades of doing the same thing, his work still makes him smile. Love this man!
What a thoroughly wonderful, talented, and happy man.
I love the fact he is so humble and mentions his mentor that taught him the trade.
I so admire people who have the talent and resolve to create something. Last time I made something was a wood duck for my father in 4th or 5th grade. Four decades later he still has it in his living room.
Love the Manuel Drafting design no computer. Pen and paper there is something special to that. Great video thanks for the insight!
What an absolute joy. Greetings and peace from England.
What a Happy Man!
Master at work.
Those boxes are high end!!
Never mind your fancy high end commercial names, this is beautiful, simple and timeless.
The secret to life is happiness. Clearly you are there. I only hope I get there to.
This is beautiful, thank you for this video
@Chuck That's a great idea. By the way here are the best woodworking plans online: YesWood. xyz

What a beautiful man and a beautiful artisan
Such a great group of people!! Awesome last scene!!so funny..
Loved every moment, especially the large racket for the finale shot ( I laughed so hard I woke my roommate), I will continue to observe and learn, thank you good sir
I like everything about this short film.
What a beautiful man.
God bless you and your family.
You’re the luckiest man on earth.
It doesn’t get better than how you have it.
Ciao !
You are definitely an Artist. Great eyes and great hands. What style.
outstanding work guys! Thanks for the great video
RESPECT Sir. The world could do with a few more people who fill it with beautiful things.
What a wonderful life...! And beautiful work👍👍👍
Artist of wood.........salute to you sir
What a pleasant guy. Enjoyable video, thanks.
You have a beautiful place and a awesome shop !
I love the concept of perfection and smoothness everywhere, even in hidden areas. It makes it organic to me.
that furniture wouldn't fit into my home esthetically, but boy what a nice work and design. And with the woodshop close to his home, this guy is living my dream o.O hell, even more so, overall this guy is living my dream
When I retired I bounced around looking for something to do. I recalled that the most fun I had in school was wood shop, in the 7th grade. i realized that college and I weren't made for each other. But I have no sense of design. I made a pool cue and fell in love with birds eye maple. I was very fortunate to find a small house on twenty acres in the mountains that i could afford. Funny how life works.
His internal contentment shows in his work.....
Thanks for the clip. I have just started woodworking and I'm 43. I have just spent most of my Christmas holiday to make a jewellery box for my daughter. When I have it to her, all polished and shiny, the look in her face ,, priceless. Now I'm thinking making a box for my wife.
Absolutely delightful, thank you for sharing. Peter Atkin, Sheffield, England.
thank you for this zen break in my workday - this was better than meditating. Your shop is so clean. Beautiful designs and wood. Great life, congratulations!
Who thumbs down videos like these? I'm mean really! It's pure bliss and inspiration.
Can't give a big enough hug for all the joy I'm feeling. A tip of the hat to you, good sir!!
Take a look at his prices. Then youll maybe understand.
@@reservoirvideo personally i could give a shit. I just find it outrageous he charges what he does. His target clientele is obviously no one i have ever met and i assure you we "metalworkers" have better things to do than thumbs down your videos. We're too busy charging reasonable prices for our work.
People with bunch of regrets and envy
the AI youtube thumbs down bots . there are millions of them all over youtube created for nothing more than to post thumbs downs to those who dont deserve it . and some that DO !
Mostly I would say the Thumbs Down crowd are left leaning liberals. This fellow has ensconced himself into a lifestyle that the outside world can't touch. They can only look in on him and wish. It takes considerable envy and SOME self loathing to click thumbs down on this video.
Wonderful shapes, It is a life dream to do what You do and live like You do👍💐🍾
Really great to see.
Looking at those chopping boards, have you ever considered making spanking paddles for the BDSM market.
That much smoothness! means how much you put your heart on that piece of wood! Loved it! Really inspiring story! :)
Beautiful story, excellent cinematography, and very inspiring work.
Even at 61, would still like to apprentice to this man 👍
You have found your shangri -la, and are blessed with total contentment and peace. Not many people can say that.
Thank you for adding such an insightful, gentle and challenging video. Ed's philosophy is so sound and it's been great for me to see it at a time when I'm considering directions for myself and my family. What a pleasure - if only 1% of views on the 'Tube were of pieces of this quality and soundness, humanity may experience a somewhat marked improvement! Many regards from Sydney, Aust - Dave
excellent video and good luck to the old guy. What a gentleman.
Obviously a whole different level of craftsmanship from the average person. Very very inspirational. Thanks.
He is The Woodworker!!!
I actually just picked up a nice pair of Whol's sandwhich boards from a local fine arts shop in St. Paul. very nicely done pieces, smooth and just texturally nice.
I had the same experience growing up - always got a bang out of building things. I built a scooter to ride to first grade on the first day. This is my 52 year being a carpenter - remodeler. I really enjoyed your video and the quality of your work.
Living the dream Ed
I would have given anything to have a woodshop when I was in school. They had one on the way out n we did TWO classes only n then they stopped it. Made a sundial and a wooden rocket. I was so mad cuz I loved it
