    I was just today watching a masterclass on microgreens, and trying to figure out how to store them besides the refrigerator. Perfect timing!😁

    Ah! when i saw sprouts, here in the UK that usually implies Brussel Sprouts left overs from Christmas Dinner where halved and dehidrated, Your sprout we ussualy reffer to as bean or mung sparouts. Makes no odds either way. I did dehate some store bought been sprouts last year and admit I wasn't sure it was safe, but thought the dehydrator ion anyway so do it and find out latter. Looks like it will be fine. thanks again for great info and ideas

      Bean or mung sprouts come from specific beans. These are seed sprouts.

    Quote for my day: "My kitchen is messy. It's my kitchen. Get over it." :+)
    That is so encouraging, especially for someone who doesn't have the confidence yet.
    That is such a great tips as I am looking at making green smoothie powder.

    Did this and ground them up. So great to add nutrients and subtle flavor. Thanks for sharing with everyone. I realized as you were cleaning the trays that one doesn't need to remove the green seed covers. Makes this even easier.

      Same with me. I want to have them handy to add to my breads or eat as snacks without having them raw on the counter all the time.

    Good idea as I sprout in a jar. Buy the seeds in bulk. Got them pretty cheap a pound from a place locally.

    Just watched this and thought I would share how grateful I am for you. Planning on buying broccoli sprouts today, and was worried about the waste if I don't use them all up right away. Terrific solution!
    Learning about sulpheraphane and how incredible the sprouts are for our bodies. Thanks so much!!!

    I grow sprouts but not for a while. I am super careful and pour boiling water in jars so they are sterilized, soak seeds and sprout and then the day I am done sprouting I add 4-5 drops gse and rinse well. I want to be super careful of bad germs . I then dry them on paper towel and refrigerate . I will try this. Thanks

    Hi Darcy! I had a thought…since they have a nutty flavor, how do you think they would taste I’d added to my home made bread? Do you think they would absorb a lot of the liquid? Sounds like adding them would give great nutritional value to the bread, but I’m not sure if it would work. I don’t eat a lot of sprouts, but if I could preserve them for awhile, I just might have to start adding them to my diet more often. Thought?

      It does, doesn’t it? But I’m not really sure how it would turn out.

      Ground or whole? If you do them whole, expect them to be texture as they won't integrate into the flour as well as if it were powder.

      ANY airtight container - so weck jars, any other clamp style with the rubber gasket - they are all fine.

    I am dehydrating potatoes- had hubby peel them for me and before I knew it he had all 20 # peeled! I blanched them all but what should I do with the blanched potatoes to keep till my dehydrator full of potatoes are done? I know I can freeze them but could I just keep them in water in the frig for 12 hours or so till I can empty my dehydrator? THanks so much for all your help all the time! My dehydrator has never seen so much use!

    If you had cut the sage leaves first, just a rough chop, would they dry quicker, you think?

    Hi madam. Is it advisable to blanch the broccoli sprouts prior dehydrating it? The reason I want to blanch is because I want to activate the glucoraphanin to ensure that sulforaphane will become potent. I waste some money doing it and quite struggling doing my own research how to properly making this.

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  Місяць тому +1

      Because I don't focus on that with them, I can't advise you. But if that's what your research shows, then do it. But it will happen when they are cooked in a meal, anyway.

    How long do you think the dyhatrated sprouts wlll be good for? Can I extended their life by putting in Refig or freezer?

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  4 місяці тому

      Then why waste the time to dehydrate? They can be frozen...and yes, protecting them int he freezer is fine, but you're not going to get years out of them.

    aren't you supposed to blanch food before dehydrating? How do you blanch sprouts?

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  Рік тому +4

      Answering again - no, not all veg need to be blanched first, and if you blanch sprouts, you remove the benefits of them immediately. Here's the list again: www.thepurposefulpantry.com/how-to-blanch-vegetables-for-dehydrating/
