      Don't worry, Tom
      From my perspective most of your active viewers don't mind longer videos. In fact I personally prefer longer style videos with more detail and depth.

    • @BlaMNA1
      @BlaMNA1 8 місяців тому +2

      It is good that it is detailed. UA-cam has no shortage of short uninformative reviews, that not help you decide which machine is good for your use case. They only good enough to put machine on your radar, and that's all.
      So thank you, it was helpful!

      No apologies necessary. You can always add the word "in-depth" or "deep dive" to indicate to viewer that is going to be a longer review.

    I bought the new philips Lattego 5500 about 3 weeks ago. Had different drinks daily as a family. I recognized that the milk foam is really terrible. The espresso quality was pretty good, but if you prefer to drink milk-based drinks, then I wouldn’t recommend philips at all. At least with the current Lattego technology.
    Today I gave back the Philips machine and bought the Delonghi Eletta Explore and beside the Material differences, I could definitely feel the higher quality of the machine. The foam is much finer and the fact that you can adjust the „foaminess“ of your milk ist great.
    Thank you for your time and the great video!

    We have a Magnifica ESAM 4200 that's in its 15th year - regularly serviced, parts replaced as needed and it works pretty much as new. We also have (an even older) GCP and MDF grinder: I prefer the espresso from this combo but the Delonghi makes about 90% of the coffee in our house because it's so easy. They are great machines and it's interesting to see what a modern one can do. Thank you for your videos, always interesting.

    Exquisite, exactly what I was waiting for. A very thorough demo on functions and UI of this great unit.
    I had no idea I would be this interested in watching a video about super automatics.
    You gotta know its a delonghi super auto, when you hear them start. I have a magnifica S at my office and it sounds exactly same way.
    It's always weird to me how you say, that your beans are 3-4 weeks old, in my area all local roasters roast on daily basis (I guess pour over/filter is more popular and customers always ask for their beans to be ground) so I have to wait a week before indulging in a cup of specialty coffee.
    Cheers!

    On the magnifica EVO, to do hot cocoa, you can drop the powder in the cup, attach the milk frother full, select the grinder bypass but don’t actually load any coffee, hit the my latte button, and it’ll empty the frother into the glass and then cancel itself because there’s no coffee in the bypass. Magical!

    Interesting! So the addition of the COLD milk frother carafe adds an interesting wrinkle. Hmmm I have the magnifica EVO and every afternoon I just pull a dopio shot - squirt 4 pumps of tilorani white mocha sauce in a large glass, swirl in the glass, add about half way up with ice, and fill up the rest with milk. Add top, straw, swirl. I’m really wanting to know how the cold foam could enhance that.

    Excellent review! Still, it makes me appreciate my simple Melita filter machine even more. Less time spent cleaning, and quicker set-up :) To me, a real "superautomatic" machine should somehow take care of everything, and not require multiple steps of cleaning, or replacing the milk container for just hot water.

    Thank you so much @TomsCoffeeCorner for wonderful review. My lovely bride and I are looking either the Eletta or the Plus. The only reason for the Eletta would be for the travel mug. My question is could you just remove the drip tray and place a travel mug under the Plus version and get a 14 to 16 oz drink that way?

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  Місяць тому +1

      You only have to lift up the water tank about 1" and then slide it out to the right. It's actually a little shorter than the Breville Express Impress, if you have a look at the video. Cheers!

      @@TomsCoffeeCorner I am not sure if this reply was to me or not as I was asking about being able to get a travel mug or tall 16oz cup under the coffee spout on the De'Longhi Plus. Looking at it, it seems the spout is not high enough to slip a 16oz cup under the spout? So about 6 inches clear. So my question was could I remove the drip tray before brewing and put that cup under the spout that way and could I make a 14oz drink like a Latte or coffee. Thanks Tom!

    Thanks for the review! It's been really helpful to understand how the machine works, but I have a question about iced coffee. When making iced coffee, how do you add sugar before the coffee is poured over the ice? Since the machine serves the hot coffee directly onto the ice, there's no time to add sugar beforehand. This is important because most people drink their coffee with sugar, and I'd love to know the best way to ensure it dissolves properly. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks!

    Did you mention anything about the temperature of the macchiato? Have been looking for a new super auto but they never get the milk hot enough for me. I have an older saeco xelsis but it has a steam wand which I use instead of the carafe system, because the drinks were always lukewarm. That machine is 12 years old and after a good long life, needs to be replaced.

      Hello there!
      I’m guessing that your beans are probably too old - or in other words roasted too long ago.
      It could also be that your grinder is not ideal for espresso.

  • @Sara-hw4jf

    Hi. I bought the machine. Used for cold latte.. the coffee came out is hot,
    the milk is in room temperature so why it is called ICED LATTE. whats the difference from the hot cafe latte.. Is my machine not functioning well or was my expectation too high ( I thought the coffee will come out as cold)- hot milky drinks (latte etc..) and espresso is pretty decent .. taste good

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  6 місяців тому

      Well, the iced drinks require ice to cool them down more. I think the only drink that comes out cool is the cold brew, which is at about 40 degrees C. The other drinks require the ice to cool them down further. The milky drinks should be about ambient temperature milk foam, if you use the white milk carafe. Cheers!

    In the doppio + option the machine grinds 15gramms .Get it that
    In espresso (+ option ) with intensity on 5 the machine also grinds 15gramms?

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  7 місяців тому +3

      I did a ton of tests, and found the 2x Espresso and Doppio+ to grind the longest (around 10 seconds).
      As for espresso, it was like this:
      Espresso Aroma 1: 5 seconds
      Espresso Aroma 2: 6 seconds
      Espresso Aroma 3: 7 seconds
      Espresso Aroma 4: 8 seconds
      Espresso Aroma 5: 9 seconds
      So, it ranged between 8 and 14 grams or so (about 1.5 grams per second of grinding time), based on those trials. Cheers!

    Great review. Appreciate all the detail and nuances discussed. Was reading about the Dinamica power button popping off on some purchasers. I’m also seeing multiple reviews for Jura and Delonghi where people are having coffee makers bricked with little to no support, with some literally being ignored by OEM. Any thoughts? Just sensors and people not getting them clean in the right spots?

    Hey Tom, I have bought the machine but the model without the wifi option.... how would you suggest i go about setting the grinder settings for the different bean types gicen i cant use the bean adapt wizard?
    For example, does the level of arabica and robusta dictate the level of grind?

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner

      @@jessc2369 The grind has much more to do with being freshness in my experience. And honestly, I find that the Bean adapt technology is just a very rough guide. To start off with, I would recommend setting it at three or four , and seeing what result you get. If it comes out too fast, lower the grind size. If it comes out too slow, increase the grind size.

      Oh heeealll yeaah (in Will Smith voice). There's no comparison. The Eletta makes stronger coffee via the bigger and finer pucks, and the milk texture is better, too. Plus, build quality is a fair amount better, and it's made in Italy.
