In this video we take a look at the Magnifica Evo - a superautomatic coffee machine from Delonghi, that finally gives an entry level line a much appreciated facelift. While the functionality of the brew group is similar to the older models, the Magnifica offers a clean design HMI with a nice smooth surface for cleaning, and recognizable drink buttons displayed. The Evo boasts a 14 count puck tray, and a 1.8 liter water tank, giving this machine some very nice volume. Of course drink performance is the most important aspect, and this machine when fed with freshly roasted beans can produce a very nice Espresso Lungo. Maybe my biggest surprise is how well this did with milk foam. It does provide a very nice almost silky consistency, especially for a superautomatic. Hope you enjoy the video!

Thanks for watching, comments welcome! Currently on sale for Black Friday week: amzn.to/3q0eupR (affiliate link)
Been watching your videos and I have a budget of 1,500 to 2,000$ CAD. I was planning on buying the lattego 5400 (mainly a latte, cappuccino and regular coffee drinker) but watching the other videos, I'm not sure anymore. Which one would you recommend? Thanks for you help :)
Which model is that?
Are you Swedish by chance?
Nope! :) @@gbriank1

Just got done working out and having a coffee right now as I watch this. I am enjoying!
The review is really very detail!! Thanks so much 👍
I’ve been eyeing this when i watch this video and its black friday sale so i bought one.. thank u for this video
Nice review! Just purchased our new Delongi! Can't wait for it to arrive!
Thank You for your Review, it was actually a really good one.
I recently purchased a Delonghi Magnifica Evo and I have to say I’m very impressed and satisfied with the product .
It’s my first one from them.
🎩
Excelent and very detailed review! Congrats!
I just bought it and found this video. Very helpful thank you so much 🎉
Best review I have ever seen
I’ve got one after watching your review very helpful Thank you Tom all the best!
Awesome, have fun with it! Tom
How is the temperature of the milk-based drink? Is it hot enough. I recently bought a Delonghi Dinamica Ecam 350.55B. The flat white is not hot enough. I even had to microwave it for a minute. Seems the milk is not heated and it reduces the overall coffee temperature. Please let me know your experience with this machine. I can have mine replaced with this.
Amazing, I'm convinced. My wife has been asking for something like this for quite some time, so she's getting it for Christmas.
Happy wife, happy life. :)
Indeed.
Best review I’ve seen!
That is such a cool machine Tom! Maybe some day. 👍
I love DeLonghi. Thanks for a great review.
Thanks for the feedback - yes I quite like this machine as a super automatic, pleasantly surprised!
Yeah, not for everyone's pocket but sure is great machine.
Great review, thank you
The great thing about this machine is the fact that it uses granular beams instead of capsule.. definitely getting one
SOLD! I just ordered one Tom! DeLonghi should be paying you commission :)
Costco has this machine on sale for $500 for the next couple days. This review helped me to figure out if I wanted to buy it, thanks!
That's a good price, and Costo's return policy and warranty are unbeatable!
Great. Very helpful. Thanks
Great video, thanks for sharing
Dude I had a lot of questions and watched a lot of reviews - No one answered my questions like you did - You are great - Thanks for being great :)
Hey, happt to hear it - thanks much for the feedback! Tom
I purchased this espresso machine on Costco with a nice $200 discount this weekend. I look forward to trying it at home. Thanks for the video.
Hope you enjoy it! It's my go to reference in this price range.
I did the same. It doesn't have all the drinks as the other Evo. Did you figure out a way to froth milk without making coffee?
The only way to do that is by selecting the grounded coffee instead of beans(and leave the compartment empty) and then press the my latte. This way it will only give you the milk because there is no grounded coffee 😁
Love your review. I bought it
Love the Borat "Very nice"
Thank you 🙏 today it help me your video
Thanks for this great review. I just had mine delivered today. The factory settings seem to be working great with my beans, however, I would like to see if I can further improve the quality of my espressos.
Two questions you might be able to help with;
1. How can increasing the temperature effect the quality of the espresso?
2. Is there a way to purge hot water through the coffee nozzles before making a coffee to get the system warmed up to the point that it is at perfect temperature on my first espresso?
Really appreciate any help you can provide.
This reminds me a lot of the Phillips 3200 lattego! A few months after they came out I got cousins to pitch in and buy one for our amazing cousins housewarming. It's well-loved and so easy to maintain but I haven't seen anything to compete with on the market until possibly this unit. I love those simple easy to clean milk carafes without any straws or crevices to have to struggle to clean that the Lattego series have.
I actually find that this machine outperforms the Philips LatteGo. The espresso is a fair bit more intense, and the milk foam a better consistency too. I was honestly surprised. But bear in mind that I am using very good Dinzler Il Gustoso coffee beans, which is important in the result.
I have the same opinion about the simplistic approach from the Phillips. It is easier to clean. And well adjusted, it can do really good coffee.
@TomsCoffeeCorner understood, but from a bean to Cup machine, that lattego milk carafe is an Amazing piece of engineering for the fact it actually works whether it's producing high-quality latte foam or not. It functions so well, is ridiculously easy to clean and it's even top rack dishwasher safe. Now if it would actually make real (read good quality) espresso
@TomsCoffeeCorner A little too much bias, in my opinion.
The LatteGo outperforms the DeLonghi on Amazon reviews.
I'll probably get the 5500 LatteGo just to have the silent brew and iced coffee options.
@KRWWWLNG that makes sense. For ease of use in cleaning it's freaking amazing. It might not make the same quality microfiam milk as a couple other machines but those are all a reliant upon internal systems and a milk uptake tube you have to clean. My cousin has done absolutely no maintenance on her latte go 3200 in years. Massively neglecting it but using it daily and she has a roommate that also uses it
Thank you.
Nice machine I had got one because was on sale, but more noisy then the Prima Donna S and Magnifica s.I keep on 2 beans and med hot.Pucks always perfect.Grinder needs to be changed only when its working...its a Delonghi thing. Great video as always Tom.
Thanks for sharing! It's a little loud when turning the spindle to compress the puck, but the result is worth it over other superautomatics, in my opinion. Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner yes most def,you must try the Prima Donna its the absolute best. I use all with diff beans. The Dedica I dont use much now too much hassle with grinding and all.
many thanks for your comment i just buy this machine this weekend just can you please help me how i can do latte machiatto or flat white from this machine ? or any other coffe which we can create from this one ?
Hi Tom, I just found your channel in a timely fashion as I am planning on replacing my ageing Gaggias Brera. One question, did you try adjusting the espresso quantity below the default 40ml? Would be interested in knowing if that made much difference. Some cracking review videos on here, I'll be a regular viewer!
Hi Stuart, well you can stop the brew early if you want, if that's what you mean. I do think 25-30ml would be better than the default. Cheers!
Türkçeye çevirmiş olmanız çok süper
teşekkür ederim 🙏🏼
Çok video izledim Türkiye’de detaylı anlatım üzgünüm çok yok bu çok iyi olmuş tüm sorulara cevap buldum saygılar.
Glad I could help!
Great review! Thanks..
Also wanted to know if i can select coffee crema option with high heat setting like you used the my latte when in settings? Thanks a lot ❤
Yes, you can do that. It's for the shot in general. Cheers!
Hey Tom - Great video and very informative. What do you think of Lavazza or Borbone espresso beans to use with this machine? Will I get similar results that you did?
If you can get them somewhat freshly roasted, then yes, you can get good results. The beans I was using had a high robusta content, by the way. Cheers!
I've been eyeing this machine and your video solidified my decision! We also have to know what beans you were using in this video!
Hi there! Beans used: Dinzler Il Gustoso (amzn.to/4apsJq6) affiliate link
Great review, thanks! This super automatic machine is awesome. Is the quality comperable with a Krups super automatic EA81, EA82 or EA895EMX?
I like Delonghi better than Krups. Krups is a very economically made machine. So, I would go for the Delonghi.
Great review. I'm looking to get this for an office but people don't like small cups of coffee. How large was the regular coffee you made? It looked like a fairly decent sized cup of coffee. We have 12oz cups at work for guests for if it fills those I'd be very happy with that.
Hi there! I was using 300ml or 10 oz cups. Cheers!
How do you adjust the settings to make a bigger coffee? Our cappucions and my lattes are super small . Thanks
This machine seems really impressive! You didn’t give much indication of quality of construction, does it seem like it will last? I’m currently using a Gaggia Brera. The Brera’s flat burr grinder limits you to beans on the lighter side of medium to light roasts. Can this machine reliably grind med-dark roasts?
Hi Tom, great review, very useful and good tips, thank you for that! I was looking for a Delonghi Dinamica & Dinamica Plus review though, as I am doubting between the Philips 5400 and the Delonghi Dinamica or Dinamica Plus but I don't see you have those anywhere. Any advise, please?
The Dinamica will be similar to the Magnifica. I think both are better than the 5400.
Great video. You were the reason I purchased this particular machine. I love the way my drinks all come out. I've only had it about 2 weeks and started having an issue with the sensor for the the milk drinks, though. I have to trick it by placing something white between the sensor and the milk container (per Delonghi Customer Svc). It's fine for the 2 standard milk drinks, but it becomes an issue with the My Latte drink.
Sorry to hear about that sensor - I have not had that issue myself. I wonder if the sensor needs to be cleaned, or if it's just faulty...?
@@TomsCoffeeCorneraccording to delonghi “it’s not a defective machine” and if I exchange the machine, it is likely to happen with the replacement. . .but technically it is defective. I clean the machine every day, if you aren’t careful and do not remove the “white” fakeout, it will produce steam and someone can get burned if not careful. I’ve been doing some comparison with the Phillips superautomatic machine, but I really do love the delonghi.
Thanks for the review! Amazing machine, I bought a Spinn but I don't find the crema consistent and dense, what do you think of the crema on this machine? Is it thick and consistent? Thanks!
Honestly I think the crema is quite good for a superautomatic. Just need to use good fresh beans.
Great review Tom! What's your opinion between the Magnifica Evo and the Dinamica?
Well, they're both from Delonghi, so their inner workings are the same. It's just a different interface. I prefer the looks of the Magnifica.
Our machine the milk froth is not working. Any suggestions..
Hi Tom, Thank you so much for all the super helpful and wonderful videos. Are the any of your inspiring 'advanced modes' that can be added/used with the Magnifica Evo? Could the shower plate be upgraded for example? Thanks again for what you do. :-)
One can't really modify the machine per se. Just use good softened water, freshly roasted beans, fresh whole milk and the hot setting for coffee, and you'll get the best out of this machine.
Hi Tom, thank you for your reply. I do have a question and would welcome your experience. Which makes a better espresso, the Magnifica Evo or the ECP35.31 in 'pro' mode? Thank you.
Very knowledgeable man you are. Thanks for the videos!
I love my coffee very hot, does it make it hot enough? Can I make latte and cortado with this machine right? How I can adjust this with my latte function? Thanks in advance!
For me, it's hot enough. The MyLatte function just dispenses milk until the carafe is empty. Cheers!
Hi Tom - Thank you for your review and your channel. Can you tell me the precise version of this machine? There are a couple floating around with various drink options. Thank you!
This is the European version, without the iced drink option. You can see it here: amzn.to/3rZB5nc (affiliate link)
Great video, Tom! I'm torn between this one and the Philips 5400 and was wondering which one you would recommend.
Honestly, I think this one does better espresso and milk foam. Philips looks a little cooler though, and has the user profiles.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner so performance-wise this one outperforms the Philips in every way? You mention profiles, but what about the other UI? If my wife and I share the machine, is the Delonghi easy to adjust to our preferred settings? Also, the milk wand on this unit looks a little fiddly…does it get in the way?
Hi. Thank you so much for your video. I'm not sure if you're familiar with the EVO with the DESCALING option. Does that option also doubles as the temperature guage? TIA
Sorry but I don't think this machine has a temperature gauge. Cheers!
Great video, seriously considering buying one. My preferred choice is a flat white or cortado though, would like to be able to decide on coffee/milk ratio, is this possible?
Sure, that's what the "MyLatte" is for. Just fill up the container as much as you want, and it will be emptied.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner thanks, another consideration though is that the flat white doesn’t use frothed milk? The normal delongi milk wands have 2 settings
Hi Tom, thank you for this video.
Only about espresso and capuccino taste, how do you compare the results from this machine with the ECP3420 and the Dedica EC885?
Well, portafilter espresso machines are still better, but this does quite a good job for a superautomatic. Drinks will be less potent though, if you know what I mean.
Thanks for the video, do you recommed this one or Dynamica? I could not decide . Thanks again
The both do the same thing IMHO, and this one looks better. Cheers!
Just bought one of these and this saved a lot of head scratching, clarified a few things for me - Thanks :-) - Now, as I don't have particularly hard water do I bother with the water filter or not?
No, you don't have to. But still I'd recommend using a brita filter and descaling regularly to prolong its life.
2:35 you need to do it everytime you turn on the machine? or its one time setting
How does this compare to the saeco xelsis? I’ve heard a lot of really good things about it particularly from the newer European model but haven’t seen many reviews. I would’ve expected more as it’s sold by Phillips and is supposed to be the premium machine over their Lattego line.
I don't know - never tried the Xelsis to be honest. But for me it's Jura > Delonghi > Philips as far as taste goes.
Hey guys, how does this one differ from the Dilongi 3300 I believe it's called. Thanks! Btw, fantastic video 💯
My Magnifica Evo has a grinder settings on 4 and when I'm making an espresso it pours very thin and not much crema.
Hi Tom. I love your video. I bought this machine a week ago. But I don't know what is the difference of espresso & cafe when both have cream. I thought the coffee was like a drip coffee but now I'm unsure. could you please help me?
No, these systems operate under a bit of pressure, I think around 3 bar. It's what they call a "coffee crema". It's nice, trust me. :) Drip coffee is really something else, operating only under the pressure of gravity.
Hi Tom, I am going to get the EVO since they are having great Black Friday deals. As usual, your review is awesome. Do you have any suggestions on getting the EVO with the latte crema system vs the EVO with the traditional manual milk frother? Just thinking I may get better milk froth with the traditional version even though you mentioned that the EVO auto crema system on this works really well. Any thoughts on this from your point of view? Thanks!
Hi Susan, I have not tried the one without, but if it's anything like their Dedica, where you can remove the panarello, zip tie the rubber spout on (so it doesn't fly off), and steam that way, then you can get very nice microfoam. Cheers!

Hi Tom. Great video, thank you. Where are DeLonghi coffee machines manufactured, in Italy or China?
China
Just purchased it 😊 and I’m glad that you liked it 😂
I’m busy with the set up.
My first coffee will be for tomorrow morning 😍
The only thing I would say is that it would have been good to have a milk only option for when my son wants to have a hot cocoa (but he can still use the microwave 😜)
You can use the my latte option and be ready to remove it before the coffee comes.. I did that by mistake and was really nice fluffy cup of milk 😊 I know you will have espresso left but it's worth it 😊
I think i’ve just found a way around this after a bit of wasted coffee. Before pressing my latte change the coffee bean setting to decaf scoop (but don’t load any). Bingo, hot milk only. My 5yo seems to be getting just as much use out of the machine as we are!
@@alinamasala4546 that’s a good idea. I could still use the espresso for me 😊
@@annalachlan4806 do you mean that you do as you would use a little scoop of ground coffee but you don’t put any coffee? I need to try this 😊
I bought this one today and noticed that you did not have the water filter, which came with the unit, in the water container. When should I use that as other videos put the filter in but that may be only when they are using it for the first time. Love the video and any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I bought mine used, so it may have been discarded. Anyway, I always filter my water first with a Brita, before putting it in the machine. Cheers!
Mr tom i have bought machine same like this but it doesn’t have rinsing button,,,, please help me
Seems like it's pretty awesome. I also like how they limit the choices the user has for types of drinks. I feel like having anymore drink options than what this machine has is pretty useless.
The grinder sounds terrible though lol
I find this machine does a real nice job on both the extractions and milk for a super automatic, and I like the included PE, and the clean design.
Hi Tom, Great Review. Did you test foaming with oat milk and how was the result?
Howdy! No, I don't think I did, but I can try that out in a future video.

I'm debating between :
- Breville Barista Express
- Breville Barista Pro with ThermoJet heting
- Breville Barista Touch Espresso
- Breville Barista Express Impress
- De'Longhi - La Specialista Arte
Not sure which one to get. I like the Express impress as it allows for easier compacting, but I like the Touch and the Pro for their screen.
The Barista Express and the Specialista are the cheapest out of the bunch.
All the Breville's are fine, with slight nuances. I'd go for the Express or Express Impress, due to the included manometer and manual pre-infusion.
Tom what is your opinion regarding milk 🥛 frothing system , which of them will be more reliable in time , Delonghi or Phillips ?
Appreciate for answer , all the best 🤝
Hard to say, as I have not used them for years and years. But I am guessing the quality is similar.
Amazing Review! But wondering if you would know how to dispense froth milk only? They say click my latte button twice but doesn’t seem to work!
Just make sure your milk carafe is filled up, and inserted completely. It should work. But you have to abort before it tries pulling a shot. Cheers!
Hi, thanks for the video. I’m wondering if you know how this compares to the evo that comes with the wand rather than the automatic creams. Ie the ecam290.22.
Well, this one is easier, since it steams for you. The one with the steam wand will require some practice, but will with practice provide likely a better milk texture.
Now I'm going to have to go look up what the coffee Crema is. I've heard you mention them before but I can't remember. Is it just a super-sized Lungo instead of adding water separately as you would for an Americano?
Coffee Crema is something widely available in Germany actually. It's basically a 100-150ml pull, using one puck. You see this as the main option on these superautomatics, and also at McDonalds, where they will use a single spouted portafilter and let the cup fill up long past a normal espresso or lungo.
@TomsCoffeeCorner thank you! That's what it looked like, but I understand some units can actually put hot water on top of your coffee like an Americano without pushing all the water through the puck, so I wasn't sure. Thank you very much for the clarification
Hi Tom, would you recommend this machine over the Breville Bambino Plus? I am looking for an automatic machine with an automatic steam wand, so I think both machines are great but cannot determine which one! Welcome others' feedback too!
I'll be releasing a video tomorrow, comparing this machine to an automated espresso machine. Stay tuned! I myself would always opt for the espresso machine, but see what you think after the video tomorrow. Cheers!
Hi Tom. Great video (and series). I’ve searched everywhere and can’t seem to find if it is possible to steam milk only with this unit?
The only way to do that is by selecting the grounded coffee instead of beans(and leave the compartment empty) and then press the my latte. This way it will only give you the milk because there is no grounded coffee 😁
See the comment below. :)
Thanks so much@@TomsCoffeeCorner - I wound up getting the 3200 for $150.00 less. I can hold the milk pitcher when steaming! 😀
Nice video Tom - as always. Regarding the dosing: I believe three bean button is more g than you might think. Looking at the pucks the grind is still quite coarse. I believe those automatic coffee machines alwways use something like pressurized basket to ensure consistent quality, no matter which beans you throw in. With this coarse grind, I believe the grinder is capable of grinding more. I might be wrong here, but just an idea!:) The only way to find out an approximation is to dry the pucks and weigh them xD
Thanks for the tip. I will have to try weighing a dehydrated puck soon. Cheers!
James hoffmann has a good video on dailing in these machines an recommends a coarser grind than what you would expect.
Hi, so we learned that the milk foam from this is better than from Philips. But what about the espresso itself? It looks like from your videos this one makes more cream than Philips as well, so is it better on espresso too? Thank you again for the wonderful reviews. I found yours the most helpful among others.
Yes, I prefer the coffee and milk foam on this over the Philips.
Got it. Thanks a lot.
Thanks Tom, do you know whether those superautomatic machines all use pressurized filters for the extraction or non-pressurized filters?
Well, they make much smaller pucks, probably with some kind of pressurization, but I think it's minimal - maybe like 2-3 bar.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner thanks!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Hey Tom, all of these types of machines have pumps capable of 15 bar though I'm not sure how much of that they actually use. Are you sure it's only 2-3?
Does Automatic Espresso machine last? Or manual are more likely to last longer?
I love this Automatic one and I can’t decide if buy this Automatic or The Specialista.
Any thoughts??
I'd say they're about a horse a piece. Both need periodic maintenance, and the use of filtered water to reduce scale. The superautomatics need their puck ejection spindle greased now and then. Cheers!
I would strongly suggest to submerge the milk system parts in soap water at least once a week, and rinse with clear water after!
Very good. But I would like to ask whether I can make milk froth only with coffee..
Not really. You'd need the Dinamica Plus for that. Sorry!
I am thinking of buying one, but can i choose on the espresso if i want with more water or more like a ristreto? For example i like me espresso small and strong, my mother likes her espresso not so strong with a little bir more water, can i choose how i make it our is the same nothing can change? Thank it was a nice video.
Well, you can choose a ristretto, which pours about 30ml, or an espresso which pours about 40ml. I'd say the espresso is more like a lungo, because it's already about a 4:1 ratio.
Ordered it a few days ago thanks to your review. What beans would you recommend for it?
Oh, I like to use freshly roasted med-dark beans, 80/20 arabica to robusta blend.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Thanks!
Hi Tom, do you know how this machine makes different the cappuccino from the macchiato? For me the latte and the macchiato look almost alike. Thanks.
Honestly, I think they are the same. You can affect these more with manual machines, but not really with superautomatics...
Thank you for this video, sir what do you recommend or what machine is the best? Philips lattego 5400 or Elleta? according to espresso extraction and milk foam? I’m so confused and I can’t decide which one is better 😅. Thank you
i am in the same boat as well. so close to pull the trigger on either Philips 5400 or Magnifica Evo, this model ECAM292.81.B
Eletta is better than Philips. So is the Dinamica. In fact, I find even the Magnifica Evo is better than the Philips 5400 LatteGo.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner what about the build quality of Evo compared to 5400? Are they comparable?
Great video, thanks
However, for 2 months I have had the same coffee machine, and for the last few weeks, I have noticed a pretty annoying error. At the first cappuccino in the morning not every day, after selecting the drink, the milk froth process starts and after one second suddenly stops with the red triangle warning light, the grounded coffee ready is dumped in the tray whiteout brewing. Once I see that, I turn off and on the machine, sometimes reconnecting the milk dispenser and the light disappears. I've tried to reach Delonghi Support over the phone, I explained to them everything also in an email with pictures, and no answer so far. Today I claimed the warranty and on Monday they will pick it up.
Has anyone had any similar issues with this kind of machine?
Do I have to set the temperature and strength every time I use the machine or does it remember the setting forever after changing it? Also, is there a user setting memory for multiple users like the Phillips 5400? Also, can a person remove the drip tray cover and put a taller travel mug (7” tall) under the spout
No, there's no user profiles here, but there are on the Dinamica, which I recently reviews. And yes, the Magnifica remembers its settings.
Hi, Tom, what would you recommend from automatic coffee machines? My wife loves really good latte and I like black coffee. I can't really decide. I'm thinking about Delonghi, Philips or Saeco.
Thank you!
Of those, I like Delonghi the best. Jura is also a great machine. I'd recommend the Magnifica Evo, or maybe the Dinamica Plus.
Θα ηθελα να σας κανω μια ερώτηση,το μηχάνημα μου έχει κολλήσει στο πρόγραμμα καθαρισμού, πως μπορώ να το βγάλω, ευχαριστώ
I noticed your machine only has 5 buttons but the one on delonghi website has 7. Any reason for the difference? Just purchased it. Great review!
Some models include "iced coffee" which I guess delivers less volume. Cheers!
Hi Tom, how would you compare this machine to the Siemens EQ6?
I think I like the espresso a little better on this, and the milk system is nicer to clean. But the EQ6 is a pretty cool machine, admittedly.
Are the results on the automatics better than on the dedica/ECP?
No, but easier.
We buy filtered water for drinking and cooking. So do we need to descale and use provided the filter?
I would still descale, because using filtered water, although much better than unfiltered, still does have some minerals in it. It still builds up over time in the lines.
I am have having a really tough time between this model and the Phillips 3200. I read a couple of side-by-sides that said the Delonghi produced a better expresso, as the pour is 30 seconds compared to the Phillips 15 seconds. Apart from this extraction benefit, I prefer the Phillips in every other way, ceramic grinder vs. steel, no milk tubes to clean, etc. What say you?
I find the coffee and milk better on the Delonghi. Cleaning the milk container is about the same on each. But you gotta choose what you prefer. Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner thank you. Delonghi it is!

Hello there! Yes, your beans are probably too old - or in other words roasted too long ago.

can you have good coffee beans in the main section and add decaf in the ground section?
Nope, there's no section to separate beans...
Man, I’d love to know the exact setting, grind level, and beans you use for the coffee. I’ve been tinkering with this for a month now and none of my coffee cremas look like yours hahaha
Grinding set at 3, highest amount of beans, and the beans are fresh (www.martermuehle.de/m-espresso/)
Could help you answer this question: between the Philips 5400 and the Delonghi Magnifica Evo, which of these two automatic coffee machines would you choose for your home?
I'd take the Evo. Shots and milk texture slightly better than the 5400.
Hi Tom, what is your take on the machine when comparing it with the Dinamica Plus. I am on a tight budget and want to have the better coffee espresso experience between the 2. Thank you for your support.
This is in my experience a little below the Dinamica for espresso and milk, but not by much. Certainly way better than any of the Philiips offerings.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Thank you for your inputs, my take on the Dinamica is also based on your review of the machine, and that is why it is in my choice list
Thank you for this video. I got my Magnifica Evo last month, but still can't seem to get the perfect tasting coffee for some reason. I think it may be the grind setting, although I have tried different ones. My coffee either ends up tasting sour like lemon juice or it is very strong. I also noticed that some beans make a really good espresso but not regular coffee, and some make a terrible espresso (tastes too sour). How do I fix this?
I'd suggest a good med-dark roast from a local roaster, meaning that they've been freshly roasted. Give that a shot. Too light a roast will be difficult to extract because they need quite a high temp, and they will always be a bit acidic, either way.
I think this may just be the issue. I did double check my beans (Buunni - Azmari beans) and they are medium roast. However, they are most definitely not fresh as they were probably sitting in the store for a while. Will try with fresher beans and report back!@@TomsCoffeeCorner
Hi again! I tried new coffee beans, these were from Stumptown - Holler Mountain. They were roasted just two days ago, but I am still experiencing that lemony flavor and the coffee is extremely watery! I tried making a regular coffee (could not drink it because it was so watery), and then the double espresso just lacked flavor and still had that lemon taste. Anything you can suggest? I do notice that when the coffee or espresso is pouring out of my machine, it has a honey-like consistency once it starts to pour out but towards the middle, the color gets really pale and seems like it is just pouring out water. Is this normal?@@TomsCoffeeCorner
Stupid question Tom, can I make manually my cappuccino with this machine? Great video by the way!
How do you mean? Espresso first, then milk foam? Or did you want to adjust the ratios?
@@TomsCoffeeCorner I mean can I steam the milk and make the foam like with a manual machine or I gotta go fully automatic?
The system doesn't have a steam wand, so your only option is to use the automatic system.
