Haha I cannae believe how much stuff came out the tardis bag 🤣 I really need to get my act together, I’m never this organised. Amazing what you can get past Ryanair’s stingy allowance!
My wife and I have been around the world with strictly carry on. I sitting in YVR right now waiting for my flight to the UK. Again just a carry on. Cheaper,no lost luggage and easier to manage.
Icebreaker, the walking brand, do superb Merino wool tees. A little expensive at £40-£59 but look great and are odour resistant and will last for many days. I take 3 or 4 on holiday trips and they roll up beautiful.
I do most of this when travelling light.I also take disposable slippers ,lots of plastic bags ,clips for sealing bags, wrapping foil - great for sandwiches, plastic cutlery, paper plates. My top tip is always take a spare phone
I never figured out _truly_ packing light. I end up with a cabin trunk for two nights, meanwhile I know people who go for two weeks and everything they have fits in a freezer bag.
Great minds think alike: I also try to bring clothes that are nearing their “expiration date” on a trip. Saves you from bringing them back and also makes space for any souvenirs that you might pick up along the way.
Flew from Manchester to Cologne with Eurowings. As we had hold luggage we had the next grade up from the basic. This included a snack. Thought for a budget airline they were great and better than any other budget airline we had flown with.
Your channel is refreshing. I watch loads of similar channels but they all blag business or first class. How? I travel budget with one small bag. Good job.
Great video Scottie! Have to make a couple of comments, but all positive in context. Firstly, the lady who fell asleep beside you on the plane. She was a sweetie. She'd have had a busy day getting ready for the flight. Through all the drama getting to the airport, through the traffic, through the airport line ups, corridors, check-ins, and finally she's in her seat. And then when skyside, she looks at you. Thinking you seemed like a nice bloke. Feeling comfy in your presence she drifted off to sleep. That's a feather in your cap our Glaswegian friend. Then there's your baby. Small and skillfully packed. Well done. My wife could not have done better, (Shh, we won't tell her I said that). Condensed packing is not my forte. But your tips I take on board. Keep making quality travel videos and I'll keep tuning mate!
Great you travel just like me ! And i also have scales so not over 10kg but double check at airport on a closed check in and put heavy stuff in my coat ! Good vlog ! Little john from chichester
My type of travel vlog - decent useful information as opposed to whinging about there being no fresh pineapple juice in the exec lounge. Keep 'em coming Scott thanks.
my experience with Eurowings was from LHR to Stuttgart, we had an air bridge at LHR, but at Stuttgart, we had to decant onto the tarmac. Flight out was to time, flight back was late. I am impressed with your bag, though and think I would struggle with travelling as light as you when I also take a DSL and independent lenses.
Interesting video again Scott. May I make a small suggestion: when you put titles on the screen can you leave them on for a bit longer. When you put up the text about the Trade Air aircraft it was only on screen for about 3 seconds and by the time I’d noticed it was there it disappeared. I had to replay that section 2 or 3 times to read it. Just a suggestion. 😄
Great video again Scott. Well done with the delay claim. I have been trying for eight months to get compensation from Ryanair for a nine hour delay and that is using a claim company who will pocket 40%
A bit late commenting on this Scott but I travelled with Germanwings, as it was called then, back in 2003. The flight was from Edinburgh Airport to Cologne Airport (Konrad Adenauer Airport). Back then I had never heard of the company and I remember it was £12 each way. My bicycle I had dismantled and was part of my luggage. I was really impressed by the company then. Even more impressed when I didn't have to pay for my bicycle. The aircraft was an Airbus and the seats were leather - luxury for the price. Sadly, on my return flight, I found that payment was due for my bicycle for both flights. Later Lufthansa incorporated Germanwings fully into a rebranded Eurowings.
Scott, you didn't go to the S-bahn station but to the normal station Dusseldorf Flughafen. S-bahn trains (S1) stop there as well, but there's also another S-bahn station below the terminal building (S11)
I went with eurowing last August 2023 from alicante to pisa, but Canto changed in Germany, then Florence, to Athens again, had to change in Paris chales de Gaulle I think it was 😅😅
TUI's 'white' livery isn't their aircraft. They're just temporary markings on a white-tailed wet lease/season long charter. ES-SAY is being leased from SmartLynx (Estonia)
With regard 2 flying from Dublin both terminals are connected air-side so if u enter Terminal 2 land-side , go thru security check the departure screens facing security 4 ur flight & u should see the gate is shown alongside . Good man yourself ! Christy 🇮🇪/🇵🇹 👍
I have a cabinmax manhattan bag that it is the same dimensions - bought it discounted on ebay - so I don't have to pay above Ryanair base fare and can travel light. I've not used it yet but got a few tips from you for when I do so thanks 🙂
I flew EuroWings from Berlin's Tegel airport (remember that?) to Las Vegas (via Dusseldorf) as part of a positioning flight on one itinerary on an Economy Light fare. It wasn't too bad to be honest. The Lufthansa lounge at Tegel wasn't so great but I thoroughly enjoyed the Lufthansa Senator lounge at Dusseldorf. Good food plus a shower which is always nice before taking such a long haul trip to Vegas. Seat was good, sure food was buy on board but was of decent quality - certainly far better than the toasties one would find on a RyanAir flight! This was back in 2019, remember the good ol' days?
Tegel. What a horrible airport. Built it seemed for 10 flights a day for the 1950’s. Check in at the gate was slow and far too crowded for the number of passengers on planes these days. The holding lounge was tiny. Horrible waiting for luggage. Then the actual BA airport lounges (if you flew Business class) on an upper level didn’t have toilets and you needed to go down the basement to the general toilets. Hated it.
Packing right is an experienced magician's hack . I travel normally with an American T which at 4 kgs tare wouldn't pass muster in Ryan . Those Jet airways travel accessories are handy but the airline isn't coming back anytime soon . Some good ideas ; it helps that you too are slim and trim 😉.
Wouldn't mind a link to the SD card holder and bag, though I imagine Amazon will have similar if I look them up. I never would have thought about packing plastic coathangers though; have you thought about a portable clothesline instead? With the camcorder batteries taped up like that in your bag, I'd be more surprised if security doesn't do a search.
European USB adapter really good to have. We are currently enjoying a Düsseldorf city break - but to be different (and not worry about luggage restrictions) sailed and then drove. Germans still taking Covid precautions more seriously still requiring mask coverings on PT.
He will have to bring a North American adapter if he flew to Canada, Mexico, and/or the USA... Two is probably the right amount for me, as I bring a iPad and a GoPro only... My eyesight isn't what it used to be, therefore no iPhone...
Scott , I'm currently in Corfu with Ryanair, but bizarrely as you probably know you don't automatically get a cabin bag when you book a 20kg hold bag. I searched for the perfect bag and could only find a play station ruck sack from Argos which is 40cm x 10 cm x 15cm which was ok for this trip. Do you remember where you got your bag ? Ps never thought of a 'bum' bag for my camera stuff .. top of the pops thanks
Me too - and if I'm going to do a lot of walking, before I set out, I tape my most vulnerable toes and heels with plasters to give padding, rather than having to deal with blisters later on.
Being given two different dates is a pain in the backside if there's no easy way of telling which one is (in)correct, especially if it's an incorrect combination. You might be told "Thursday 22nd July" - except there isn't a Thursday 22nd July - it's Thursday 21st or Friday 22nd. Which one? My other bugbear is "Midnight on (day)". Say, "midnight on Tuesday" - is that when Monday ends and Tuesday begins, or when Tuesday ends and Wednesday begins? This is why some businesses, universities and a lot of computer systems will stipulate something like 11:59pm instead.
Haha yes, I also use up old clothes and buy cheap underwear which I discard as I go along on my foreign motorcycle journeys. I reckon I’ve deposited well over 250 pairs of socks and undies in various hotel rooms throughout the world. As you say, makes room for a souvenir or two, plus it keeps the clothing in my motorcycle panniers smelling fresh! I find the Eagle Creek packing cubes excellent, if a little expensive.
My biggest problem is packing a spare pair of shoea which are bulky. How do you make do wirh only one pair for 6 days considering the amount of walking you do ?
I always pack to a minimum, for two reasons: More comfortable travel and to comply with baggage restrictions. However because my shoe size is 46.5, if I pack a second pair of footwear, it takes up considerable room in my luggage. Still, I remain within restrictions. It irks me much to see people boarding with two bags, one bag which is very much pushing the limits and most of all hard luggage. Hard luggage should only be permitted in the cargo-hold.
Some of us have no choice but to travel heavy, Chris. I have multiple disabilities, so have to check in a folding wheelchair in a giant wheeled suitcase (accepted free of charge without affecting your baggage allowance so long as prior arrangements are made) and a large hard-sided suitcase. I also have a carry-on size hard-sided suitcase and a soft-sided bag which contains what is a form of ventilator (has to be carried on and, again, is accepted free of charge as medical equipment in the cabin - I do carry a hospital letter confirming the equipment is hospital issued). If I have a personal item as well, that means I'm walking on with three bags, which is entirely within the rules and has been approved in advance by the airline. In the days when lithium wheelchair batteries had to be carried on, I was walking on with four bags (again, within the rules and approved in advance by the airline); these days, the batteries stay in the chair under stringent safety rules specific to lithium battery-powered mobility aids. Mobility aid batteries are the only passenger-owned lithium batteries that are supposed to go in the hold; all other lithium batteries should be carried on. My carry-on hard-sided is legal on the airlines I fly - dimensions and mass are both within the limits. This case is a four-castor spinner so that I can move it around. A good chunk of it is filled with medication and other medical items that I have to keep with me. If I'm taking my camera and laptop bag, which is within the personal item limits on the airlines I fly, that goes on the handle of my carry-on hard-sided case until I reach the plane. There is no problem getting that small hard-sided case in the overhead lockers using no more than the allowed space per passenger. In my experience, people sneaking on oversized backpacks that they don't want to check in is more of an issue when it comes to running out of locker space. People gamble that the gate agents will not force them to gate check oversized bags, which risks delaying departure whilst they are loaded into the hold. The other way that people use excessive locker space is by putting personal items in the lockers rather than under the seat in front (unless they are in a bulkhead or emergency exit row, where personal items must go in the locker). I wish I could pack as light as you and Scott, but it just doesn't work for my needs. Travelling heavy is a nuisance, but unavoidable when you are me. Washing out respiratory circuits is as much as I can manage; washing clothes as well whilst travelling is a non-starter. My bags come back rather less full than I travel because of the medical disposables I've thrown away along the way. Even travelling as heavy as I do, I have to use a lot of the "packing light" tips to get everything I need in my bags.

I've used your trick of throwing away underwear and socks on holiday, also all toothpaste and most other toiletries (except the deodorant) gets left behind before I fly back home.
Love your videos mate but not keen on the incidental music. Gets me reaching for the mute every time. May I suggest something Celtic or pastoral instead?
What's all this notion of needing to make space and then buying souvenirs? A couple of fridge magnets take up no space at all. And people back home need training to expect nothing more. 😆 😂
Are they still deploying a mask 😷 mandate? I refuse to fly with anyone still mandating muzzles. And that legroom looked atrocious. I am only 5’8” but that looked cramped to me.
Very good, then I won’t meet you on board of a german airline (and many others). And they have enough business even without “heroes” refusing to wear a mask. I find it always hilarious when folks like you think they punish an airline when you don’t fly with them because of xyz 😂😂😂
@@marcd6897 Funnily enough Marc D, you would NEVER see me on that airline anyway as I usually fly business class which they don’t offer. Now go away and annoy someone who gives a flying for instance about you opinion.
@@marcd6897 - There's much worse to worry about now than Covid. Most of us have had a few jabs and expect to be able to get on with life without any further restrictions. The airlines are out of step with general life. Even the most ardent mask wearers have stopped wearing them now. Time for the airline's to follow suit.
No price given for the cost of the flight, nor the hotel room You throw your old clothes away Really Shame on you. Why not donate them to charity. Or don't you have poor people in Scotland?
you can buy thrown away pants & socks. Most vloggers don't mention the flight price but as for hotels i get your point however cut the guy some slack. He's been informative throughout.
Why would you comment on scotts appearance like that please mary? Would you walk up to someone on the street and say that? It’s nasty and uncalled for.

Great tips! LOVE the idea of bringing the old clothes!!!
You know if Ryanair see this video, they'll be reducing their hand luggage allowance again! 😁
Man I am glad I found Scott. Taking notes furiously!
Good video
I work as a travel manager at my company and we book a lot eurowings. I get this email/SMS every single workday 😂😂😂 Grüße aus Köln ❤

Two things I have
photocopy of passport and cards incase I lose them and some plasters and tape great for injuries or repairs.

On the question of livery, TUI should have kept the Britannia Livery if you ask me!
What's the make & model of your cabin bag?
I don't understand the thing with the liquids in the Jacket. You have to drop them at security check, or am I missing something.
My biggest problem is packing a spare pair of shoea which are bulky. How do you make do wirh only one pair for 6 days considering the amount of walking you do ?

Some of us have no choice but to travel heavy, Chris. I have multiple disabilities, so have to check in a folding wheelchair in a giant wheeled suitcase (accepted free of charge without affecting your baggage allowance so long as prior arrangements are made) and a large hard-sided suitcase. I also have a carry-on size hard-sided suitcase and a soft-sided bag which contains what is a form of ventilator (has to be carried on and, again, is accepted free of charge as medical equipment in the cabin - I do carry a hospital letter confirming the equipment is hospital issued). My carry-on hard-sided is legal on the airlines I fly - dimensions and mass are both within the limits. This case is a four-castor spinner so that I can move it around. A good chunk of it is filled with medication and other medical items that I have to keep with me. I'm not sure I'd have got on if I heard that noise 🙈🙈!
How about a link to a seller of this specific bag?
That monorail is some serious tourist trap.
As it was founded more than 50% by taxpayers money it counts as public transport and by law they have to charge ticket price for that. So its just part of the Dusseldorf VRR transport network and you have to buy a ticket.

When wa this filmed as I flew other day and didn't have to have a mask
I would bring washing line and clips.
And better stainless clothes pegs, so much better than plastic
What the hell at Dublin airport is a hand and foot swab?? Is this part of the routine?
is eurowings a relation of germanwings ?
They used to be the same, 2 names for the same organisation - they did away with the germanwings name and now fly everything under eurowings.

Ibis typical dump
No price given for the cost of the flight, nor the hotel room

you can buy thrown away pants & socks. Most vloggers don't mention the flight price but as for hotels i get your point however cut the guy some slack. He's been informative throughout.
The bag unpacking is rather embarrassing
Do they seat u 2back from the middle so Ur nose balances up the plane. Hahaha
