I travelled often to Turin on business in the early 1990's. I felt your pain when it was so near but yet so far. You've inspired me to want to go back very soon to visit. I love your unpretentious vlogs Scott. UA-cam is full of vloggers so far up their own backsides whinging about there only being 6 options to eat in the exec lounge or there only being two USB charging ports in their business class seat. Please keep it up.

Hey Scott. I'm an Aussie, and my dad was a Scot from Dundee. I married an Italian girl from Chieti, Abruzzi. We've been married for 56 years now.
Just before the Covid-19 outbreak we spent two weeks in Scotland and two weeks in Italy. Checking out our roots you could say. Well, we fell in
love with both countries. Both beautiful in their own unique ways. Unique scenery and unique people. But friendliness everywhere in both places.
We're happy to be home again in Queensland, Australia's north eastern state. But our lives have been enriched by our trip to Scotland and Italy.

Had no idea that Ryanair flew to Billund - excellent information, so thanks Scott! I'm off to Funen (Fyn) island later this week and normally fly EDI - CPN and then onwards by train. Flying to Billund and then a shorter train/bus journey makes much more sense.

Really loved this video so apologies for long comment! Low cost connection time? I always go 5 hours minimum. Sounds excessive, but I’ve had times when it’s just enough! On your trip - sleep deprivation is torture eh!? And I hate it when airports don’t give a walking option to exit. I had a similar problem at PMI recently but just walked along roadside anyway :) fantastic video once again Scott, was looking forward to that one and it didn’t disappoint!

Agree on the longer transit times are better. I’d rather arrive early and get a drink and a meal at a cafe than have to run, wonder if my luggage makes it and have heart palpations over it all and then sit on the next flight sweaty.

I am a former Brit but now living in Canada, and it blows my mind seeing how low the fares are .. there’s nothing like that here of course, so I certainly miss that. All we have to do though is to get ourselves back over there to the UK and start taking advantage of those low flights. It’s been three years since we were back, so it’s time to get booking and packing, lol 😊

I was part of the dfds world record lego build a few years ago, all depots in europe contributed by everyone building a block out of lego pieces. All the blocks were used to build the biggest lego ferry. They brought it round all the depots after it was built on a trailer and displayed it at each for a week. If its not at the dfds headquarters in denmark anymore, it will be there at that legoland.

A few years ago I flew into Billund airport on the same flight as Andy Bell of Erasure, it was memorable because as we approached the runway to land we suddenly shot up into the sky again, turns out the plane that landed before ours had hit some birds as it landed so they had to delay our landing a few minutes while they cleaned up the mess.

If I were transiting (which, as an Australian, I've only done twice domestically), I generally would allow a minimum of 2 hours (but that's if it's on the same ticket). I'd probably allow more if it was a Ryanair format of two separate tickets. In either case, as an aviation geek, the longer the better for me not just from a buffer point of view, but it also allows more time to plane spot.

Top marks for your determination! Roughing it at an airport never fun... To borrow and alter a joke from tv show 'Friends': Danish pastries..... known as just pastries to people in Denmark 😁. I know Turin well from going to watch Juventus a couple of times before. Italy is a wonderful place, but also a very frustrating place with red tape, last minute closures etc. I am still haunted by the time a short notice train driver strike left me stranded in a village near Mont Blanc needing to get back to Milan that same day to catch a flight... Many buses followed to get back to Turin, then a bizarre train journey which was running, but they would not sell me a ticket to Milan due to the strike, although the train stopped at Milan! I had to buy a ticket to the destination of Venice, and just hop off at Milan! Italian bureaucracy is baffling.... The Lingotto ex-FIAT factory hotel and the new Juventus hotel are both on my list for a stay one day.

Great achievement Scott. As for LCC flight connections I say it depends on the airport and time of year so m out never to aybe three hours or more. However I believe these LCCs will have to change the way their seats are marketed. A number of airline experts are saying that flying ought never to be sold so cheaply and as the current airport congestion has shown airlines need to pay airports higher fees to enable (airports) to provide better ground services.
