I've just experienced looking through one of these 70/700's that I was loaned today after I mentioned that I'm about to buy a scope.
Of course I first looked at the moon, them's the rules. This was my first ever look at the sky through any scope.
Just above the moon tonight, on a night that was supposed to promise 100% cloud cover throughout, I saw Jupiter with it's rings and 4 moons.
What an amazing experience. Yeah sure, it's small in the 20mm eyepiece but surprisingly clear.
That, Mr. Astrobiscuit, is what I'm here to thank you for. This and your other budget video inspired me to become a nerd.
To see that on my first experimental go was amazing and all down to your inspiration.
Many other videos, channels, forums etc. convinced me to go "full nerd" and get a 6" dob, or 8" if I can.
That's way too much money for me, so I've been watching the classifieds hard and am collecting an 8" newt on an eq mount tomorrow - Well within the £100 limit.
Don't be too afraid of used kit. You can get a lot for £100 if you familiarise yourself with what they're all about first and what to look for.

Would you mind listing some stuff to get started? Doesn't need to be below £100 but a few hundred could do. My end game is the fancypants stuff but that's some years from now...
Will definitely bookmark those free programs.
    Subbed.

The 2.5x GSO Barlow lens (TS variant) is an incredible Barlow for it's price, and I have mentioned this Barlow quite a lot in my videos. Cheap budget APO glass elements will deliver amazing images of the planets, and it's defo one of the Barlow's I would seriously recommend to someone who want's medium range Barlow for their money. I totally agree Rory that we the UK Astro UA-camrs get very little coverage or gain subscribers and I've been on UA-cam for time and only got around 3.2K subscribers (compared to our American and Canadian counter parts with excess of 6K to 30K subscribers) for the sheer amount of hard work we both put in to deliver awesome videos, it seems we are left in a black hole for some strange reason.

Just found your channel via a link on facebook in UK Astronomy. Brilliant stuff with a refreshing style which is not at all nerdy! Subscribed! You've inspired me to do some work on videos I took in 2004/5 of Saturn and Jupiter, using the Toucam Pro. When you tested that, what OS were you using on your laptop? I got the camera working on Win7, but no luck on Win10. Being CCD rather than CMOS, I think it still has potential, if I can get it working! Keep up the great work!

This video really puts our planet into perspective of where we are in our solar system, when having mars, saturn, the moon, and jupiter in orbit filmed from earth.

Got my best views of Mars last night here in Minnesota just as a wispy cloud was in front of the planet, thought I'd sit down and wait for the cloud to go but then the seeing changed. Sometimes you just don't know how good you got it.

Nobody works harder for a single astro video than the Biscuit. He's the King Biscuit.
But the most amazing part is that he's a scope nerd with a professional comedian's wit. You don't see that everyday.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful presentations with just the right balance of information and humour, a rare talent and one few presenters have. I have tried to watch so many UA-cam presentations that fail through lack of information and keeping the viewer’s attention. You would have a ball from my location, 42 south, however, I did my ‘apprenticeship’ on the outer parts of Leeds back in the very early 60’s, so I have earned my time down under with brilliant skies and all the circumpolar gems available year round. Keep making your wonderful presentations, take care and stay safe. 🇬🇧🇦🇺👍🔭

@@Astrobiscuit Google: Shevill Mathers-Southern Cross Observatory, either separately or as one string, you will get there and may find images of interest. I live on semi rural 5-acres with dark skies just 15 minutes from Hobart, our capital city. I step outside my front door into darkness and see M42 naked eye as a dim fuzzy patch, Orion is upside down but still an impressive constellation. I have two observatories with very different telescopes in each, plus other gear set up under cover outdoors. I get involved with NASA JPL and Discovery TV Channel from time to time, plus the University and their astro activities.
