    Ol Claire 😅 where is that in Milwaukee we say eau Claire is it weird being in Wisconsin but a suburb of the twin cities

    • @LivingInEauClaireWisconsin
      @LivingInEauClaireWisconsin  4 місяці тому

      I wouldn’t say we’re a suburb being an hour and 15 minutes away!
      But it is nice having an international airport near by! :)

    Eau Claire used to have a Amtgard group. Volume One did a article on them. They have moved to Menomonie since then.

    8:19 it's always obvious who doesn't do much walking/cycling. You can tell Dan travels via car everywhere he goes.

      Sure is...! Worked in the kitchen there for 2 years back in the day: 1979 - 1981. Disco ruled the radio waves & hard rock/heavy metal vinyl LPs ruled the turntable of my stereo at home: Scorpions(Animal Magnetism), MSG(Michael Schenker Group), Judas Priest(Hell Bent For Leather), Gamma 1(w/Ronnie Montrose), Terrible Ted Nugent(Scream Dream), Blue Oyster Cult(Cultasaurus Erectus), Black Sabbath w/Ronnie James Dio (Heaven & Hell), Alice Cooper (Flush The Fashion), AC/DC (Back In Black), UFO(No Place To Run), Aerosmith (Night In The Ruts), Van Halen(Women & Children First), etc.,etc.,etc.,! Also, Schlitz Malt Liquor (U drink the bull - U get the horn!) & Andeker beer(imported from Denmark) ruled my refrigerator...!

      @@petervankauwenbergh3375 Yeah back then living downtown & working at Houligans for 2 years in downtown Eau Claire consisted of much beer drinking & having the police at my door for loud music complaints after hours. At one point I was living in 1 of the 2 apartments above the WigWam tavern on Madison Street which is also still here. Many taverns, much drinking & plenty of loud music everywhere you'd turn back in the day. Think at one time there was a statistic that said Eau Claire had more taverns per person based on city population than any other city in the entire United States, so yeah growing up here getting drunk was pretty much what most people did... party, party, party!!!

      I disagree. That makes the downtown cosy and nice to live. Buildings are in human scale. Compare this to the Minneapolis downtown. In Europe old downtowns are in similar scale.

    Place is so liberal and full of homeless. Corrupt county officials and constant property tax increases. Eau Claire is a mini Portland, Oregon who is on the verge of being St. Cloud, Minnesota. The town is full of an inclusive people as well. You will not find yourself accepted as an outsider and trust me. This is a terrible place to live and I do live in Chippewa which I wish that we could just cut out and move ourselves so far away from this terrible place! No career paying jobs and the division 3 university UWEC specializes in liberal arts. So, if you’re looking for a PhD in psychology and sociology and liberal political science this your place. I must admit that the video is done well to show you the the downtown, but do not kid yourself, if you went downtown today you would see so many homeless people it would make you sick! Enjoy this dump town!!!!

      That’s ironic because Eau Claire is consistently voted / nominated as one of the best medium / small cities in the US
