That depth of field is what the aps-c camera needed. Great price for what looks like a great lens. I can use this lens for a lot of things, not just portraits. I can see focusing on a model's eyes/eyelashes and the rest of the face is blurred.
Thanks for being super attentive to detail and revealing the focussing noise is gone when slowing it down in the settings not heard another reviewer think of trying that but cool it works and makes the lens suitable for more video use cases
I have had the x mount versión on my Fujifilm x-e4 for 3 to 4 months and it is amazing. It’s crazy how sharp it is wide open and the bokeh is fantastic. I will be getting the e mount versión to use on my a7c/a7iv. The price is an amazing value. The lens is big on my x-e4 but the results are worth it. I usually carry the Viltrox 75mm and a XF 23mm f/2. My Sony’s usually have a Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 and a FE 20mm f/1.8 or 85mm f/1.8. This will definitely be in the rotation as well.
Thanks for sharing and the 35-150mm looks like a killer lens, but what a beast!! It's cool this lens has a little bit of extra coverage so you can use it with a decent crop on the full frame cameras in full frame mode also... I also have the FE 20mm f/1.8, and FE 85mm f/1.8 which are both great lenses! Lenses like this are huge for full frame cameras. Have you seen the Sigma 105mm f/1.4 Lens review? ua-cam.com/video/aQxYfvDxvBw/v-deo.html that is basically a full frame version of this lens that is better don't get me wrong, but the size and weight is insane and far from practical in a most situations...
@@Jason_Hermann The Tamron is really all I need. It is a big lens but now I don’t have to carry a 35, 50, 85, 135 and so on. I carry the 20mm for wide shots. I haven’t seen the sigma review but I will check it out. I want to Thank you for all of your videos. Your a7c tutorial really taught me a lot as I was getting back into photography after 10 year hiatus. I still have my Sony nex 6 and the 18-200mm lens. I have also watched your a7iv video since I recently got that camera.
I use this lens on a Sony a6700. It puts to shame many 2500+ euro/usd lenses from reputable manufacturers. This lens really lives up to it's PRO label(metal construction, weather sealing, wide F1.2 aperture, sharp, fast AF), excepting it's price: for this price, SoCaNikon sells cheap plastic crap not even sharp at F1.8. This really makes me think how badly we are screwed by the big camera manufacturers for the astronomic price of their lenses. Also, lenses like these really prove that APS-C format makes a lot of sense, as you get incredible quality pictures for less money and less weight to carry.
I tried the Viltrox 85mm on a Fuji X-S20 and for video, the autofocus noise was really bad and the lens was clunking all the time. I guess I might have had a fast AF transition set. Very nice for photos thou and it peaked my interest for the new 75.
Yeah I noticed that about the 85mm as well, but this lens is on another level I feel like. The AF motor is good, but like I said in the video does still make noise if using for photo or video when the AF transition speed is not set to slow...
This Viltorx is looking fascinating. I have 85mm 1.8 Viltorx for three years now, i was looking for something little wider and faster, this 75mm is interesting for me now. :)
Yeah, I also had the 85mm and it was a nice lens, but this lens is at another level all together.... It is a crop factor lens though and not a full frame like the 85mm f/1.8 Lens.
Someone in the comments said its approximately 115mm at f/1.8 full frame lens equivalent... I honestly don't know how to do that math, but that sounds about right to me based on the results this lens produces.
I just checked. Even on FF there is not that much competition. I also had an 85F1.8 Viltrox. It is a great lens. But this being a 115F1.8 equivalent is kind of good if you count in size, weight and price. On FF you get 135F1.8 a bit more common. But also not cheap.

You would need a lot of space with this lens, I would say at least 30-50 feet looking at a 3/4 view depending on the size of the car, and I would want the background at least 2-3x that distance minimum for killer blur...

The Sigma 56mm f/1.4 is the other option worth considering for sure. The 56mm will be a lot easier because it's not as high a focal length so you won't need as much space. Background butter will be less though, but still should be good enough I would think.

I got both Sigma 56mm F1.4 and Viltrox 75mm F1.2 and have done some comparison between them. Viltrox is slightly sharper (but not much and you need to pixel peeping to see) and the background from Viltrox is a lot better due to better compression and not as busy as the Sigma. In term of AF, I can't tell the differences between the two lenses. For portraits work it will be absolutely fine. For fast moving object, you will still get good results in AF-C mode but obviously not as good as Sony native lenses but I can't say I have any issue with both of them.
