September 11, 2023: Steve is currently in the hospital fighting a serious illness. The best way we can support him at the moment is by watching his UA-cam channel videos on @SteveMagnante. His Barrett Jackson co-host and friend, Rick Debruhl, gives an update on Steve's situation right on Steve's channel. Wishing you the best, Steve, get well soon!
For anyone that maybe doesn't follow Steve directly: he was recently diagnosed with a brain infection of some kind and is currently hospitalized. There's not much info available and him and his family ask for privacy. You can learn more on his channel. Just thought I'd put this here for anyone who loves his modeling like i do. Wishing him a speedy recovery
It was a real gas to meet Steve Magnante and to see his table full of scale drag cars at the CSRA model show. His altered wheelbase models perfectly capture that era in racing and his knowledge about everything automotive is incredible! Thanks for another great video Doug, and of course, Steve, you are now a real UA-cam star! Thanks for sharing your collection!
I live in CT and had no idea about this model car show. Thank you Doug (and Steve) for bringing it to my attention! I met Steve at the Milltown Rat Rod Show in MA a couple of years back where he had brought his altered wheel base Ford Fairmont. Super down-to-earth guy and a very cool car...
Hope you get better soon Steve!! Always love to listen to you explain things, the amount of information about cars is absolutely amazing.i got to meet you one time years ago, at the spring fling in woodly park, we had a brief conversation, but I will always remember meeting you.again, get well soon!!
Doug, thanks so much for sharing Steve Magnante's enthusiasm for the AWB drag racers! Been following Steve's "antics" for some time so your interview was just icing on the cake!
@@timemachinesscalemodels Thanks for letting me know. I just subbed to him a couple weeks again without knowing he had modeling stuff on his channel. I am checking his modeling vids out now.
Love the Brutus GTO. I grew up in San Jose in the ‘60’s, so the car and Larry Hopkins Pontiac are old memories. I’m in process of building that car in 1/18. You mention the Pontiac Hemi, a friend of mine is currently designing/ building a set of the Mickey Thompson style hemi heads.
Would love to see Steve show his builds at our model car show that our club puts on at the NHRA museum which is coming this November and of course for to come as well Doug. Love the videos !
I wanted to go to this show so bad but was out of state that weekend. Hoping they do it again next year because I'll be there selling my wares. (I'm a large scale resin caster).
Would love to see Magnante do a model building show where at the end of every year readers would vote for the favorite car and a team of builders would bring it into junkyard real steel reality.
If you wanna put holes in your back windows get a sewing needle and griplock pliers and heat up the metal and it puts holes in the plastic windows perfect it won't crack and causes no hole splinters and that part that melts from the heat wait till it cools off and it comes off with your fingernails. Model Hack 101
Interesting comment: " My dad didn't throw it away." My dad threw all my models away when I went to college. "You don't need them anymore." I forgave him, but they were part of my youthful soul.
I just came across this channel. Is there a forum or online community to discuss diecast car making. Please if someone can guide me would be great help
Welcome to the Channel! Model Cars Magazine's forum has a section on diecast that might be a place to start. www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/ Scroll down to the Community section and find Diecast Corner.

Great video ! Steve's thought process of adding weight and making a flat spot on the tires to make a car hang in a wheelie is way cool ! 🍻
Beautiful work! An I love his T-shirt!

Didn't know Steve was also into modeling - that's cool! Thanks for posting this Doug.
He had a show on it that last just a few episodes.
@@timemachinesscalemodels Cool!, I'll have to do a search for it.
It was called Super Models and I think it was only 4 episodes. However, he does some modeling stuff on his channel as well.
@@timemachinesscalemodels Thanks for letting me know. I just subbed to him a couple weeks again without knowing he had modeling stuff on his channel. I am checking his modeling vids out now.
Awesome builds. Love the idea of putting lead in them to pull the front wheels off the ground. Thanks for sharing

Get well steve, love the Brutus GTO
Wow, I didn't know Steve finished his models! And how cool is it that he built a model of a car he built! But you didn't show his AWB Nova!!!
My friend owns the (actual) Detroit Shaker. It's a 65 Dodge Coronet, altered wheelbase. I'd like to find the model.
Another great video Doug never was a fan for the altered but they were just cool in themselves
Hey Steve, when you get better , you should build a Studebaker altered wheelbase drag car
Nice video, thanks for sharing
Great video Bro!! 👍🏻
I have subscribed to your channel 🙏🏻
Where can one get the T-shirt?
Just what I was wondering…
Is the moebius-model king golden commandos 65 ply. a/fx kit the only altered wheelbase Chrysler available in kit form?
HI MCM,, just found your channel and I like it just subscribed
Welcome aboard! good luck with your channel, Glen!
Steve's builds look amazing! Love his level of enthusiasm for cars in general! Get well soon,Steve!!🙏🙏🙏 Just sub'd to this channel btw
Thanks for the sub!

Interesting comment: " My dad didn't throw it away." My dad threw all my models away when I went to college. "You don't need them anymore." I forgave him, but they were part of my youthful soul.
My Dad recently sold my childhood home and found a box of models that hadn’t been opened in 40 years
His models are great, but when he tells the history of the cars like; "Jim Lieberman drove this.", well that makes them twice as interesting!
Steve is my long lost older brother!! Lol😂👍!

The errors in the closed captions are really funny.
