- We are back roaming the streets of Kathmandu and we’re so lucky to experience celebrating the Festival of Lights in Nepal! Also known as Tihar. The festival of lights is widely celebrated throughout Nepal where you can see many lights being hung from buildings and houses, shops and homes are decorated with marigold garlands, families decorate their homes with colourful murals. One thing you missed to mention is the act of playing "Deusi" and "Bhailo" in which different groups of people go to people's houses and entertain them with their dance and music and bless them with prayers. In return, the homeowners thank the playgroups by gifting them foods, sweets and money! Enjoy🙏

Tomorrow is new year here in Nepal 🇳🇵..(It is newari new year and its called Nepal Sambat 1143). There are different calanders used by different communities in Nepal. Bikram sambat and Nepal Sambat are the two main calanders we originally use in Nepal. Its currently 2079 BS.
