I think a lot of Pittsburgh fans are frustrated because it seems like the media and fans of other teams who don’t actually watch the Steelers every week talk about him as if he is someone who wins a playoff game and makes a deep run every year, and not someone who started at 5-1 in the playoffs but is now 8-10 all time in the playoffs and hasn’t won a playoff game in 7 years

@@desmondjones5008 Ben’s primes was from 2010-2017 and they didn’t win anything then, and what does Tomlin not do? Lose? He doesn’t win playoff games either anymore. As for quarterbacks, one was drafted by him, another brought in from free agency by him, and the best of the 3 was someone who had been on the team for years and he didn’t play for whatever reason

Pittsburgh is sick of the weird national standard for Tomlin of "well, ne never had a losing season!" like that is some standard. If Alabama or Georgia hired a guy who went 7-5 every year, they would be gone. The goal is playoff and super bowl wins, not being mediocre.
Tomlin might rally his players and they like him, but his style of play is out of date. He strangles his QB's and demands no turnovers, which is impossible if you want to throw and score a lot. Defense first and running the ball does not get it done anymore, especially when your lines are bad. And this year was the first in ages they drafted a lineman on either side of the ball. If you want defense and running, you should draft high quality lineman or get them, and he doesn't do that either.

    • @wickedsickfunkyfreshroller2037
      @wickedsickfunkyfreshroller2037 8 місяців тому +3

I've noticed he's obsessed with "taking care of the ball", to the point where he's willing to have an abysmal offense as long as they don't turn over the ball.

If you thought it was going to turn out different you got tricked again. TEs running wild through the defense since 2016. Where did you think Buffalo was going to throw the ball after Pickens fumble? I was watching with my father in law, and after the fumble I said watch this, TE seam route down the middle for a TD.
This is the issue with Tomlin, I have NEVER seen a defense tailored to their opponent. No new looks, no schemes, no changing it up…. nada. Its like they watch zero film. If you went back when Buffalo was 6-6, and look at what propelled them to their great finish it was two things.
They started running the ball more
Allen started using both his TEs a lot.
Less targets to Davis and Diggs, more multiple TE sets.
Buffalo’s TEs over the last 5 games of the season:
Dalton Kinkaid: 27 targets, 18 catches, 199 yards
Dawson Knox: 10 targets, 7 catches, 84 yards, 1 TD (he missed two games)
Stephon Diggs only had 39 targets total.
All others like Gabe Davis and Shakir were irrelevant
So 36 targets to TEs and 39 to Diggs? Where do you think they were going to throw the ball? Now I am just a guy and a computer and I knew where the ball was going, especially since there is a huge neon sign hanging over Tomlin’s D saying “Throw to the TE over the middle”. Everyone knows it, everyone attacks it, and Tomlin has no answer.
There were two more TE touchdowns (almost). Kinkaid was wide open again but Rowe just got his fingertip on the ball. (Sign that guy by the way…)
And they other was a solid play by Jack, but why he is running 30 yards covering Knox is a flawed designed in and of itself. But that is the design of the Tampa 2. Its not like middle linebacker was a weakness of this team.
Same coach, same D, zero planning, zero surprises, nothing. Still one of the worst game planners and game day managers there is. Again, we have experienced a playoff win in FOUR of his 17 seasons. FOUR !
And don’t get me started on keeping three time outs in his pocket heading to halftime…. again… for the millionth time.
We are stuck in a nightmare that has no end. The excuses come and go and everyone is expected to bow down to the Ruler of the Land of Mediocrity. His throne sits at the corner of One and Done Avenue and Debacle Row, a block away from the Shrine of the Non-Losing Season.

You put Trubisky in who looked terrible at best. Then Tomlin pulls him for the 3rd string guy, Rudolph, who ends up looking the best of the three. Now common sense would tell me good byeTrubisky! Start next season at minimum with a QB competition between Rudolph and Kenny (and Draft a QB). Rudolph looked more like the starter than Kenny! 🤷🏻‍♂️ That’s what a good head coach would do. Awhile ago the Eagles parted ways with Andy Reid. Shortly after the Eagles and Andy Reid got their first Super Bowl wins. As a Steelers fan this is the most respectful way I can sum up our argument. Andy was and obviously still is a great coach but sometimes it’s just best for a change. I’m sure we’ve all had an ex or 2 who we knew were good people but it was just time for a change. You see them doing well elsewhere, you’re doing well. Coach T is a good as it gets. Steelers are as good as it gets. It’s just stale. And I can’t think of a miracle way to revive other than to get him massive help with substantial coordinators. No playoff wins since 16-17 season. Collapse of the killer B’s. 3-8 in playoffs since Super Bowl loss to packers. 5 straight playoff loses. Last 4 playoff games have been down by at least 21 points. We all know what the issue is. Tomlin is too insecure to hire an oc/dc that's smarter than he is. If he would go after a too notch one. They'd have won a lot more. After Hailey, that's it. That was a forced hire, same with ba. Stop letting him pick his buddies and put a good one in. I really don't care where they're from or who they know. Rudolph will be the best raited qb in the league next year with the right oc, gp and pat at te. Providing they get a C amd maybe RT. the d is in shambles. Cam is old and should only be getting 20 snaps a game when it counts the most. He played with a torn groin so that didn't help. Benton is going to be good, but ogun is old. They need to pay a top end d line guy to put with benton. The mlbs were great, until 2 of them blew their knees. Pat Peterson is old. Jpj was THE best rook db in the league and it wasn't even close. They need another one but we dont know what they have in trice. They had a 1st rd grade on him but injury is whyvhe fell AND why he was out. Spend your money. Cut mitch and pat Peterson. That frees up like 15mil in cap space and give it to Rudolph plus incentives. Done.

Get Tomlin a QB and the team will be okay.
The front office made a HUGE mistake holding on to Big Liability Ben for way too long.
Look at what the Packers did with Aaron Rodgers.
That should be the Bluerprint for all teams.
In fact, teams should ALWAYS draft a QB just in case the one they currently have gets injured and/or turns out to be a BUM.
If it is "the most important position in sports," then how the hell are you starting the season with either 1 competitive QB or no competitive QB?
Final thought, every draft has a Tom Brady, Dak Prescott and Brock Purdy waiting to be drafted.
These GMs simply don't know how to evaluate QBs and that is why they often missing.

@francmittelo6731 The problem is twofold, Tomlin sucks at evaluating offensive talent and they're going to stick with Pickett and waste another year of Watt's waning prime on a 1st rd bust at QB. You're also going to lose Johnson and Harris in a yr.

I doubt that the QB is solely a Tomlin decision.
The Steelers have great offensive talent.
One thing the Steelers do very well is find weapons.
Giving Pickett another chance is not a Tomlin decision.
Maybe, you have a plug inside the Steelers' organization informing your opinion.
Outside of that, I don't believe that Tomlin is a problem that needs fixing.
The same way I didn't believe Belichik was a problem The Patriots needed to deal with.

me being a life long Steeler fan ur praise of Tomlin isn’t well founded. I’m tired of ppl putting him on a pedestal and backing it up w BS oh he’s never had a losing season! 1. He has a losing playoff record always loses the trap games and the big games. Let’s not forget him intentionally trying to trip the Ravens player! He’s a disgrace! Cowher was the better coach hands down. Tomlin only SB he won was w Cowhers team and coaches. Big Ben was molded by Arians (Cowher hired coach and dick LeBeau def also Cowher coach) he lost his 2nd SB in 2011 to Packers and has done nothing since. Over both 15yrs of Cowher and Tomlin Cowher has more wins less losses has a winning playoff record and more Division titles than Tomlin. Standard is Cowher not Tomlin. Tomlins inability to hire good coaches and unable to develope QBs is a HUGE problem. He is the CO of the team it’s his responsibility and he fails yr after yr after yr. Everybody needs to take off their coke bottle blinder Tomlin glasses he’s mediocre at best even on a different team. He suppose to b def specialist yet last 5 playoffs the opponent has scored 144 points on his def. As long as we have Tomlin it’s going to b one regurgitated disappointing season every yr!!!!🤮🤮🤮

They love calling tomlin a leader of men... Why then are there so many dumb 15yd personal foul penalties? By dumb I mean taunting, showboating, after the whistle. Why then does he allow young players to wreck his locker room? Lack of discipline. Coach Cowher would lose his mind if that was occuring on his watch. He benched players and ultimately traded them out of his organization for those serial offenders, plexico burris comes to mind. Tomlin let Brown and Bell ruin a truly talented team and hes going to let pickens, Pickett, and johnson do the same. Watch tomlins reaction to stupid after the whistle penalties. Stone faced, indifferent to the situation. Cowher was in their grill before they could get to the sideline. Tomlin lack the will to get his young players under control. They turn into cancers very quickly.

Colbert didn't like to do any free agent moves. Kahn is now GM and has made moves, and his picks seem to be better so far. Don't forget Colbert took Edmunds over Lamar Jackson at 32, Edmunds isn't even on the squad anymore. Rooneys being cheap and not wanting to spend on high talent offensive coordinators seems to be accurate. Our owner doesn't spend and they set this stingy culture. Hopefully rooney gets up to the times and spends some money on coordinators offensive and defensive. Vrabel as defensive coordinator if he doesn't get a new job.
