@DG360 100% agree. Get the game stable, make all of the base functions WORK, then bring in the dynamic events because they kill servers regardless, so it won't make a difference.
i have never done a save stanton kinda mission before. it never drew me in cause i know its not somthing that gonna be part of the game on full release. i rather have reputation missions and jump town.
there is no real downside for them doing these events. 1: open real time events being a goal. moving towards this. 2: its all needed data. stressing the server meshing, AI, ship balance, etc, etc. 3: new/additional content for existing players. 4: world building. especially important with how they want almost every action in the game to build to reactionary events. (player and/or game driven)
Personally, I think the only one worth exploring is your 2nd point at this point in the dev: 2: its all needed data. stressing the server meshing, AI, ship balance, etc, etc. Because of the reasons I stated in the vid and I'd like to actually dig deeper and ask the dev teams just how many employees are assigned to building these dynamic pve events. Good commentary my dude.
I liked the world events if they worked but not happy they surrendered XT, my favorite event, to chaos because they can't control their own game or forums. When Save Stanton would actually run, it was just a kill-box with suicide rammers. I want good PvP world events and PvE events, but the systems are not equipped to handle them yet and they need to focus on the fundamentals and tech debt. That XT invasion event was fun with the gang, but it had tons of problems and plenty of locked up missions too and chased half of them off. I really like the contested zones in Pyro when they worked but was mostly a waste of my time for the few hours I get to play. I finally said fuck it and shelved SC until it proves it wants to become a game. Korean RNG looter shooters from Nexon games respect my time more than SC lately so that's who gets my money for now.
CiG, the world champions of announcements. In actuality it's still only more patchwork lacking a solid framework. Wake me should they ever achieve the implementation of proper physics ...
All World building is good. I really like the idea of points of interest and tourism. Abbey Road Studios, groovy! KoT DG.
