The people complaining about no guns in the game give me a beautiful image of a grown man breakdown sobbing when he realizes he's unable to gun down enemies in a farming game.
I'll be honest.. stardew got kinda boring after about 150 hours. I'm waiting for 1.6 to drop on xbox bc I've literally achieved perfection in the most literal way, beyond what Qi tracks jn the walnut room. Done literally everything in 1.5 even the achievements from the cowboy game and the Donkey Kong 64 knockoff game I forget what they're called. . And I've even completed a second farm on the community center route to Qi's completion standard too. Worst part about Stardew is not being able to marry Jodi. Getting her to 10 hearts before the end of year 1 should make Kent go M.I.A and allow you to swoop in :>
I had a big crush on Robin the first time I played the game. Needless to say, I was later struck with disappointment after learning that I can't date her after giving her lots of gifts

I love sdv but the part of the game that bugs me the most is how the children don't age past toddlers...it makes it feel too stagnant for me personally
I mean, is that not obvious? You'd have to play for in-game decades to see them actually grow up, and the game has little to offer you in terms of progression past the first two years.
So true, that's something I don't like either, it'd be cool if they grew up and maybe you could choose their personality and you can actually talk to them and do stuff with them
I was legit bummed that you can't romance the wizard :/ There's also zero friendship events w him I maxed my hearts w him and for what. If I can't marry him then at least let me be his apprentice and successor he passes all his arcane knowledge to god fucking dammit!!!!
Or Romanceable Rasmodius! I’m uninterested in SDVE but very much with the wizard so it was a lifesaver for me. Love him. Edit: accidentally wrote SDV instead of SDVE
@@hydrangeyes2170 aaaa I’m so sorry I remember feeling your pain (I used to play switch, too, until mine broke lol so I *switched* ((ba dum tsk)) so I could have mods. not advocating for breaking your switch and installing it on your computer, though.)
I modded the game to marry linus, then sadly paid the divorce because he kept living inside my walls. I mean LITERALLY glitched in the walls. I prefer him free and happy. Mods are scary sometimes. Btw as an old player I can understand why people want to marry the older characters. Almost all the bachelors could be my son or daughter lol
I guess for us older folk there is Shane and Emily? They seem to be a bit more mature than the rest and, while Shane is more mild, Emily isn't afraid to be dirty the first time you go on a date with her.
About the whole "no tutorial" thing, the library books you dig up actually have a lot of tutorial type information, and you get advice from NPCs about things in the mail and in cut scenes, so there are definitely in game resources to help players out, you just have to find them organically through gameplay, and you kind of have to be lucky with what library books you will find at what time
Yeah.. But isn't it just more optimal to ask for people online for that? Its not Minecraft without people on the internet passing out information about the game. I do get your point, the books actually help for people who are new, but whatever game you play there's a community that's willing to answer all your questions, even ones that involve spoilers
Here's the thing tho, the game doesn't even point you to the library if you need help. A simple "If you have any questions on what to do, go check out the library. I'm sure Gunther can give you a hand." would suffice as an in-game tutorial.
@@wonderlandzer0litteraly this. To do this you have to go to the museum then interact with the book shelves. Cool. Who, after 15 in game days of being lost, would realistically do this ?

Yeah... disappointed when the first person I tried to romance was Robin. Then Marnie. Then Caroline. Even Willy didn't wanna smash 😭 abbigail is the mother of my children now I flipped a coin between her and Sebastian. 3 in game years later I'm kinda bored of her and wish I'd gone with sebastian 😂
Somehow, when first started playing Stardew, I did not really know what the shipping bin was for. The first thing I put in there was garbage and it returned no money so I assumed it was to easily get rid of unwanted items. To get money, I would sell my produce to Pierre, my fish to Willy and my minerals to Clint. All the things I couldn't sell to them I would hoard away like Smaug from the Hobbit. I didn't learn what the shipping bin was for till I started a multiplayer farm and I saw my friend dropping turnips in the bin. I was really concerned she was getting rid of produce and not getting her money's worth. I told her this, worried, and she laughed hysterically and finally explained the shipping bin to me. At this point I was almost year two on my solo farm. The amount of time I wasted visiting the shops to sell items...
I figured out what the shipping bin did (though I didn't get you could only retrieve the last item in it for a while) but I somehow convinced myself that shipping bin items sold for less than the item would have at Pierre's or Willy's or whatever made sense for the item. Essentially that you would get a bonus for running all the way down to the store and talking to the npc's. I did the same thing until nearly year 2 until I wrote down a few sell prices and realized they were the same
I just wanted more heart events with non-romanceable villagers. Like I would love to know more about everyone in the village! But if you're like... going through Jodi's events, all you really get from it is that she... cooks meals.
They could have tried it on mobile or console. I play SDV on my Windows machine and chromebook, and they're -slightly- different, what with mobile having auto-attack and such.
@@smellincoffee they still "tried" playing the game "multiple times", when having only played for eighteen minutes. I don't care if they were on mobile or console, in eighteen minutes, unless they were speedrunning, they would not have been able to play with mining, combat, fishing, or the community center, they said it wasn't for them without even giving themself the time to play half the skills in the game lol
10:25 what’s really strange about this one, is that there are explosions, zombies (kinda), dead soldiers, action, and challenge is relative, so only 1 of their reasons is actually true.
concerning the shipping bin review, i feel like it's finally time to admit that i didn't know there was a chest the first one to two months of my first farm. i didn't even find it out by myself, i ended up finding out about chests through youtube. i was perfectly content with my 36 inventory spaces. yup.
@@KateSparkle I did too. I didn't even realize it was functional because I somehow never got close enough to it to trigger the animation. I thought it was a decorative dumpster. I'm confident with all the elements of the game now, but I sure made every beginner error in the book when I originally bought it.
I'm just... So baffled that some of these people presumably read the store page, looked at the preview images and videos, bought the game, played it for multiple hours, and then realized that they hate every aspect of it. Sir? Did you know what game you were buying??
Yeah people who don’t read or watch videos about the game before buying it honestly shouldn’t be complaining and leaving negative reviews. especially those that complained about grinding... like if u dont enjoy grindy games then why’d u buy it before making sure there’s no grinding in it??
@@yeetingat100subs9 fr like how rich are you to be able to just buy video games without running any research on whether or not it's actually something you'd enjoy
@@frankisnot1148 yeah fr like when I see a game that piques my interest I spend literal hours researching on it, sometimes I’ll watch let’s plays of the first half hour or so, not enough for spoilers but just enough to see the gameplay and how it works. So complaints like this baffle me. Like I get that sometimes games are worse than as shown in the promotional material and stuff like that so it’s fair to leave a negative review if you truly didn’t enjoy it but the reviews where they complain about the essence of the game are just weird. Like you bought a farming game, why are you mad that it’s…a relaxing farming game???
Some of those reviews are fair, though. The one that played for 50+ hours and then stated that they realized it was objectively a good game, but not for someone who both a) can't handle the stress of the game having a million objectives to complete and b) also can't let go of the internal compulsion to optimize them is a totally fair review. SDV is a great game both for people who love to try to optimize the time management challenges AND for the people who are capable of ignoring the objectives completely and just playing their "own" game in a relaxed way. But what if you're that person who can't do the latter and just finds the game makes them anxious? Might indeed take you tens of hours to realize you just can't really enjoy the game even if you try, and it's a fair review to warn other people who might be similar. Too bad it's gonna be buried under lots of "can't date the moms" reviews.
Little bit. Seeing how many Harvest Moon games are out there and knowing this is basically better Harvest Moon SNES plus the dungeon part of Recettear, it should be easy to find out what you're getting yourself into.
I’m always perplexed by reviews that complain about lack of tutorials. SDV mechanics aren’t that complicated and you get basic “how to do things” prompts several times. When I’m on the Wiki or looking up YT vids, I’m looking for optimization ideas or references so I don’t have to write the info out myself. How to do things is fairly straightforward, I think.
To be fair, Stardew Valley can be a little too... secretive about its mechanics. There's a reason why people look up favorite items of every npc on their first playthrough. Wouldn't it be better if you could learn all this by just playing? Sure, you can do it already by trying out every option, but it would feel more organic, if npcs could simply drop this information in conversations.
@@ghurcbghurcb - Several of the secret notes actually tell you all of this information. People just get impatient and look up the information sooner. And the NPCs do drop hints about favourite and loved gifts for each other.
10:19 - This game has explosions and dead soldiers (albeit skeletons and mummies instead of zombies), and while it may not have guns it has swords and hammers.
I really hope haunted choclatier keeps the social system. Its one of my favourite aspects,i mean it gets dry after you've dated everyone once but I still really enjoy it. Dunno If it's just me, but even if I've seen it before and I'm in a bad mood getting a cute heart scene will put a smile on my face
4:42 YOOO the amount of DISRESPECT to Willy here. I will admit recently when im playing SV its come to my mind a few times about romancing Willy, and when Seanie was mentioning characters people wished were romanceable Willy was definitely the TOP of my list
I think the people saying the game rushes them don't realize you don't need to finish things *immediately*. It feels like they think that because there's a counter for a task, they need to finish it as quickly as possible. But like... you don't even need to finish the main story for many in game years if you don't want to. You can complete the community center in year 10 if you want to. I usually only finish in year 4 because I like to take the game slow. There's no deadline for anything aside from special orders and board quests, and even then... they'll show up later if you don't finish them. There's no punishment for going at your own pace. I love that about Stardew.
I like the middle ground, I think. The start (like, maybe after 2-3 harvests), is stressful and I feel obligated to grow way too much and spend way too long of every single day all season watering it to make money. So I like it more once I have enough money and resources to have a decent sized farm most fitted with sprinklers so I can have time to do other things and still have that income. But I still hit a point where it feels like I've done everything I need to and have no reason to keep playing. People with multi-year (irl time) farms baffle me. The game effectively hard stops for me once year 3 (in-game) lands.
@@Ventorath I understand, well I like to grind for money and resources, I still haven't gotten perfection because I just like to start again and again lol
See, I used to dislike Stardew, but literally only for the reason that the graphics are hard on my eyes and the large amount of brown/orange tones makes me have strong negative reactions. I'm autistic and have sensory issues and am especially sensitive to orange/brown tones (I dislike fall in Animal Crossing for the same reason) and it can cause me strong reactions. Kept me from getting the game for so long. I finally got it after two UA-camrs I liked really got me into it and it's much easier to process on my switch than on my phone and looking at pictures of it. Sometimes I have a hard time with it, but I can either adjust the brightness enough or I can just not play that day. Yet even if I adjusted the brightness on my phone, it still left me feeling sick. But either way, I'm glad I got into it. I didn't even hate the game, but graphics that affect my sensory issues are a big part of gaming for me due to it. It's why I steered away from normal Monster Hunter and other "realistic" graphic games that are more about grind and all. It's hard for my eyes. But that's just my disability so no real hatred for the game. And now I'm married to Elliott and living a happy life on Stardew and currently have 202 hours on my main farm and 320 hours in total. Fair if it isn't for everyone. Also that "Zerango (A Mega-Chad Gaming Boss)" review absolutely killed me 😂 some reviews are fair, but some of these are omg- I can't take it /lh
Something that could possibly help if you ever decide to play on pc you can download a recolour which makes everything darker and or less orange. It’ll still be difficult in the fall but it could possibly be a good option for you if you ever choose to
If you get the game on Steam, there are recolor mods like the Starblue Valley mod that might be better for you. I'd recommend trying a few of them out of you can.
I have sensory issues too so I def understand not being able to get into a game bc of it but im glad you found an easier way for yr eyes to play! The irony isn't lost on me you found an orange haired husband, he's my fave bachelor too :)
There's a really good mod that makes everything flowery... Changes lots of the game colors. There are others. Check Nexus mods 😊 My sons have autism, they're the best boys ever.
In terms of friendship I give myself a rule that I’m not allowed to grind for gifts for people, it has to be stuff I just have. And I try not to gift super frequently. It gives me incentives to talk and do quests, because I start to be like “I’ve given this person two gifts last week, this week I’m just gonna talk and do a quest if something comes up.” I also play modded and I use part of the community so I definitely speed up the process with that and it feels more natural
In turms of social system, so far I feel like My Time At Portia's social system should be used as an example It has a system that looks simmelar to what stardew valley has (surtain amount of "hearts" discovering favorite gifts, stuff like that) , but the key difference is that there are much more stuff going on with that: you can play with citisens, spar with them, hangout/have dates with them to increase friendship + there are random quests that you can get from citisens after reachin surtain levels of friendship and those can earn you friendship points too Not bringing up the fact that there are several batchlores that will propose to you themself AND there is at least one character that will ask you to date him himsel (not sure about batchlorettes tbh, because I instantly fell for Gust and never looked others up) also there is a character that gives you most relationship points for TALKING, playing and hanring out with her, so throughing gifts her way won't work + there is this whole system where if you increase relationship withone character, every next "heart" you will gane small amount of friendship points with those who are close to them My time at portia is overall is a v good game, if you got interested you should check it out
I agree, that system felt really fresh. Especially moving into town and immediately fighting everyone I saw was the funniest shit ever I love the addition of NPCs having relationships with each other, and getting close to one of them means gaining friendship with their whole group, that was really great
..yknow I gave up because I was struggling to adjust to a new game (I’m very much like...I like being familiar with my games, yknow? or atleast knowing wtf I’m doing) and the art style but this is making me reconsider
"The storage box deletes everything!!" I found that out, after 10 in-game days and I was like: "lol, I guess I'll have to get those things all over"... Currently I have 200 hours on PC, probably twice as much on mobile 😆
I mean... Lewis does literally say at the beginning "put anything you want to sell in this box and I will pick it up overnight". I can get how people might miss that (I forget how they introduce it but if it's in the intro, some people may skip it and if it's in the mail, it may be unclear that they're talking about that box, so I guess that's fair), but Lewis does mention it.
I kind of like how there’s no tutorial. The Farmer moves from their city office job to a farm, I doubt they have any idea how to farm, they learn as you do. I do wanna date the mums though, thank god for mods 😂
I completely agree! Tutorials can get so annoying, especially when you just want to jump into the game. I also like to think of the stardew wiki as an encyclopaedia or as the farmer doing research. If you wanted to try something new on a farm in real life, you’d definitely want to research what you need to get there first!
@@rock-bottom I just think that adding a computer in the game from where you can navigate the wiki would fell more organic and not just the player using it outside of the game
I know the feeling of the one review at 7:25 if you came from harvest moon 1-3, 64, mineral town, etc and you tried to play stardrew with that nostalgia in mind. you will not feel the game you will be extremely overwhelmed. it took me 4 attempt and on different time and year to finally appreciate stardew. it truly is a love letter to HM and creates more depth to it. my time at portia on the other hand is a 3d rpg version of stardew or in a long stretch much complex Rune factory
I don't know how to break it to theroyalbrick but uh... time management matters in literally every life/farm sim you ever play 😂If they find that too stressful (and Stardew barely has any objectives aside from ones players set for themselves anyway), then that entire genre of game may not be for them.
8:12 is a copypasta about the binding of isaac that someone originally sent to the game’s dev on twitter. it’s funny seeing my two favorite games collide like that lmao
Why was the reviewer @ 16:28 starting with "Dear Stardew Enjoyers", a.k.a. the people who have already bought and liked the game, as if we haven't done so already and they're convincing us not to?
The multiplayer disconnection thing is v real. It's sporadic for my friends and I, sometimes it's smooth and sometimes we have to stop playing because it starts kicking them out and escalates to kicking them out every 5 minutes or so. I love stardew but the multiplayer issue pisses me off so much and many people seem to have the issue. (I have 800hrs on record on steam, probably like ~40 on mobile android doesn't track it idk)
I agree about time which is why I added a mod that lets you change the timescale and I doubled it and I'm enjoying the game more now with twice the amount of time per day. Energy I don't mind cus I just forage for food, or go to the bathhouse when it unlocks.
I actually kind of like that you have to learn the mechanics of the game organically. I spent my first 5 or so in-game years without realizing there was a wiki, and I was always delighted to make a new discovery. To this day, I get excited when I see something new in the game after all this time. However, when I did discover the wiki and all the UA-cam content around the game, it did help me to get unstuck in several areas and progress a lot faster.
isaac review was related to a meme in the binding of Isaac community when someone on twitter was mad at the dev for making the game harder in the new dlc
I don't understand people saying the game forces them to advance fast, that it's too much grind or that there's no time to do everything in how long each day is, there are literally days I literally just skip or do one thing and go to sleep
I like to play SV with my brother because all he does is cut down trees till he passes out and I can just farm and mine all day, which I do anyway but I don't cut down trees at the same time. Playing with my nephew is like if characters had shadows who were obsessed with marrying Abigail
I actually like multiplayer because of this reason. If you can manage to find 4 people who each excel in a different skill, it would be super efficient. I haven’t tried that yet, but I’m thinking about it.
@@BeckBeckGo yeah it'd be cool if my nephew would find something he liked doing that wasn't follow me because then me him and my brother could all play and do different things

1:16 I pray to god that he was referring to ACNH's social mechanics, it would be so funny if he was cause Stardew's mechanics are a solid tier above it.
Also do why do they think that them losing repeatedly is somehow coded into the game as a punishment. Like man that’s just how games of chance work. It’s a 75% chance not 100
@@aubreyh1930 But assuming I can still do math, wouldn't that mean a 1/4 chance of losing in six consecutive attempts would be like 1/4096 or a less than 0.001% chance? I get it's still possible but unless he was overexaggerating, oof. That's double the default shiny chance in Pokemon and I think I've rolled that like twice in 20 years.
Huh, my only complaint is that I wish there was more character interactions (both romantic and non) and that I can't romance the wizard/be his apprentice 🤔
He was! The whole thing is a meme in the The binding of Isaac community; A german guy got drunk and then got mad at the game, writing a tweet in broken english and with not so nice words to the games creator, Edmund McMillen
well.. the person who wrote this review was just making a reference to a certain tweet which was a review of the binding of isaac, the author of the original "become back my money" tweet however was most likely german and also drunk
While most of these just don't make sense or are memes I can see the want for more older bachelors or bachelorettes since the oldest bachelors available are Harvey, Shane, and Elliot(which are either hard to befriend or off putting do to attitude) and the oldest bachelorettes are Leah and Emily. Most of them are around college age, and could totally feel awkward for an older player, even in just their late 20's.
2:02 This point is well done in the game ‘Spiritfarer’ you can’t give them the same thing 2 times in a row and many quests are just “wait until they’re ready.” Highly recommend but be warned: it is very sad.
I think the in-game tutorial issue definitely comes into play with relationships. Without the stardew wiki you're totally blind guessing until you start getting secret notes. In my opinion, secret notes should come a lot earlier in the game.
Yeah that happened to me too. When I first started playing, I put all of my stuff in the shipping bin and didn’t realize that it wasn’t a chest. Glad I caught that early on or I could have got rid of some important stuff.
I’ve watched ur content so much this week that reading the intro your voice came into my head but you’ve cheered me up since starting to get ill so worth it 😂
I have 2 complaints, but I really love the game. 1. The clock is fast and I feel pressured to get everything done quickly and efficiently. The freezing time mod has helped me relax. 2. I swear I'm the only one who wants Clint. Freaking "I have terrible luck with women" while I'm over here making it rain amethyst on his head! Blacksmith husband would be useful for my endeavors and I want shiny things!
4:00 To be fair, that the shipping bin "deletes" everything second to last item is very harsh. I mean you could put stuff out of the shipping bin in real life as well, wouldn't you?
Honestly a few things I wish SDV would've implemented: - More dialogue options (like explaining why they dont like a disliked gift/love a loved gift after being presented with one, hinting at liked/loved gifts, etc.) - Aging up/changing characters out (like having Jas and Vincent age up and have to leave the town for school during the day, Penny and Pam leaving and having a new family move in, etc.). - Longer day time (like having each day be stretched out a bit longer, so instead of every 10 seconds being 10 minutes in game, have it be like 30sec or 1min) - Choosing your own age range and having bachelor/bachelorette characters within that range (so if youre like an older adult you can have other characters your age to date/marry) - Your children can age up and move out/help on the farm I get none of these will be implemented for their own reasons (like how aside from Kent coming home there's no change between the years in SDV), but it's still nice to think about
maybe when they say the game is pushing then its like the CC or something because there are some stuff you have to complete in spring then you cant do it until you reach the next spring and it takes time
The Four Horsemen of Negative Stardew Mods: 1. "Can't marry (select character or group of NPCs)" 2. "There is no guns/war/zombies in this farming life simulator game therefore it is bad because it does not appeal to alpha chad gamers like me." 3. An actually reasonable reason (more rare than prismatic shards) 4. "I like this game (they clicked negative by accident)"
15:28 but that is not so crazy to think, as each season has 28 "days", 7 days on stardew would be equivalent to 21 days irl, besides it needs that to have the pace the game has
I honestly agree with the lack of tutorials part probably being the most valid criticism of the game. I'm a person who loves going online and finding walkthroughs for all the games I play (literally even do it for Pokemon, the most tutorial of all the games I've played) so when I first got into stardew, I remember googling my first tips for beginners video (I think it was Wickidey's) and one of the tips being like "always have the wiki on hand for reference. There's too much in this game to just remember to do and the Wiki helps you get the most out of your experience" and that's when I realised I found my game: Research, the Bedrock of Agriculture.

@@venixie1871 more optimal? Probably, but to say that there's no in game instruction is incorrect
Here's the thing tho, the game doesn't even point you to the library if you need help. A simple "If you have any questions on what to do, go check out the library. I'm sure Gunther can give you a hand." would suffice as an in-game tutorial.

I do not know why Leah married such an idiot...
I did the same thing until nearly year 2 until I wrote down a few sell prices and realized they were the same
Lol did you not read what lewis said at the beginning of the game?

Funniest one yet was a twitter person complaining about there being no tutorial for the axe. THE AXE. C‘mon, that’s just common sense…

5:15 finally someone that agrees with me!! I think stardew is way more fun at the start when you have to work a lot for money.

In turms of social system, so far I feel like My Time At Portia's social system should be used as an example
It has a system that looks simmelar to what stardew valley has (surtain amount of "hearts" discovering favorite gifts, stuff like that) , but the key difference is that there are much more stuff going on with that: you can play with citisens, spar with them, hangout/have dates with them to increase friendship + there are random quests that you can get from citisens after reachin surtain levels of friendship and those can earn you friendship points too
Not bringing up the fact that there are several batchlores that will propose to you themself AND there is at least one character that will ask you to date him himsel (not sure about batchlorettes tbh, because I instantly fell for Gust and never looked others up)
also there is a character that gives you most relationship points for TALKING, playing and hanring out with her, so throughing gifts her way won't work
+ there is this whole system where if you increase relationship withone character, every next "heart" you will gane small amount of friendship points with those who are close to them
My time at portia is overall is a v good game, if you got interested you should check it out

I can get how people might miss that (I forget how they introduce it but if it's in the intro, some people may skip it and if it's in the mail, it may be unclear that they're talking about that box, so I guess that's fair), but Lewis does mention it.

I completely agree! Tutorials can get so annoying, especially when you just want to jump into the game. I also like to think of the stardew wiki as an encyclopaedia or as the farmer doing research. Right, but then it would be harder to sit down and play just one day. If you’re in a time crunch, the short days compliment that.
I agree about time which is why I added a mod that lets you change the timescale and I doubled it and I'm enjoying the game more now with twice the amount of time per day. Energy I don't mind cus I just forage for food, or go to the bathhouse when it unlocks.
"They have played us for absolute fools." made me snort-laugh.
Honestly the tutorial complaint is valid. I love looking things up on the Wiki personally, but I get it.

I get it's still possible but unless he was overexaggerating, oof. That's double the default shiny chance in Pokemon and I think I've rolled that like twice in 20 years.
Ive had worse luck than that before, like in Warframe I got the same gun 6 times in a row from kuva liches which is like 1 out of millions chance
Huh, my only complaint is that I wish there was more character interactions (both romantic and non) and that I can't romance the wizard/be his apprentice 🤔

Says the person with a slur as their username…
The guy who said "I want to become back my money" probably was German, since 'bekommen' in German is 'to get'
@@tree3space fair :P I didn't know it was a reference, tho it makes sense when he's talking about Isaac xD
Best part about no replayability was at like, 20 hours, then played 1000 more
"No explosions or dead solders." Clearly they hadn't met Kent
I wish for an enemy option, where I become enemies by giving them gifts they hate
18:30 this hits so real now that you shifted towards different games lmaoo
15:06 i also lost my (first) world with around 205 hours lol. I accidentally clicked "new" Instead of "load"
But you can have multiple save files? Was this added in an update or something?
@@cruncyart nope you can have multiple, been like that for a while lol
the fish bite sfx is my notification sound so it's always trippy whenever he bleeps out profanities 😂

This point is well done in the game ‘Spiritfarer’ you can’t give them the same thing 2 times in a row and many quests are just “wait until they’re ready.”
Highly recommend but be warned: it is very sad.
I think the in-game tutorial issue definitely comes into play with relationships. Without the stardew wiki you're totally blind guessing until you start getting secret notes. In my opinion, secret notes should come a lot earlier in the game.
"No gun" weeell...remember that Evelyn and Gorge mod? x'D
Yeah that happened to me too. When I first started playing, I put all of my stuff in the shipping bin and didn’t realize that it wasn’t a chest. Glad I caught that early on or I could have got rid of some important stuff.
Willy is the best character. At high friendship level you should be able to go on fishing adventures with him.
In defense of the whole “giving someone the same loved gift” thing…I know I love keeping 80+ salads on me at all times so why wouldn’t Leah?
"No replayability."
1,700 hours.
"why does pierre's shop open at 9am"
valid, actually, the grocery store I worked at opened at 7am every day for senior's hour. He got used to that.
4:00 To be fair, that the shipping bin "deletes" everything second to last item is very harsh. I mean you could put stuff out of the shipping bin in real life as well, wouldn't you?
I lOved the video!
honestly at first I thought that you were Kurtis on the thumbnail
8:55 i agree, no hog rider and no shirtless option makes a very bad game
(69000 hours on record)
Honestly a few things I wish SDV would've implemented:
- More dialogue options (like explaining why they dont like a disliked gift/love a loved gift after being presented with one, hinting at liked/loved gifts, etc.)
- Aging up/changing characters out (like having Jas and Vincent age up and have to leave the town for school during the day, Penny and Pam leaving and having a new family move in, etc.).
- Longer day time (like having each day be stretched out a bit longer, so instead of every 10 seconds being 10 minutes in game, have it be like 30sec or 1min)
- Choosing your own age range and having bachelor/bachelorette characters within that range (so if youre like an older adult you can have other characters your age to date/marry)
- Your children can age up and move out/help on the farm
I get none of these will be implemented for their own reasons (like how aside from Kent coming home there's no change between the years in SDV), but it's still nice to think about
maybe when they say the game is pushing then its like the CC or something because there are some stuff you have to complete in spring then you cant do it until you reach the next spring and it takes time
The Four Horsemen of Negative Stardew Mods:
1. "Can't marry (select character or group of NPCs)"
2. "There is no guns/war/zombies in this farming life simulator game therefore it is bad because it does not appeal to alpha chad gamers like me."
3. An actually reasonable reason (more rare than prismatic shards)
4. "I like this game (they clicked negative by accident)"
90% of them are irony/sarcasm/jokes that Seanie took seriously for some reason lol
I mean, it can be really funny to take them unironically.
15:28 but that is not so crazy to think, as each season has 28 "days", 7 days on stardew would be equivalent to 21 days irl, besides it needs that to have the pace the game has
people who say “it’s too fast paced” are trying to do every quest that lasts forever as soon as they get it. i didn’t go find robins axe for 2 seasons
I found Linus' basket in winter, when the berries he wanted to pick are out of season lmao
I have like 2 thousand hours in this game the only bad thing I can say about it is it’s so addicting that I literally have dreams about it
"too many things for 2d game" don't let this guy touch Terraria
I honestly agree with the lack of tutorials part probably being the most valid criticism of the game. I'm a person who loves going online and finding walkthroughs for all the games I play (literally even do it for Pokemon, the most tutorial of all the games I've played) so when I first got into stardew, I remember googling my first tips for beginners video (I think it was Wickidey's) and one of the tips being like "always have the wiki on hand for reference. There's too much in this game to just remember to do and the Wiki helps you get the most out of your experience" and that's when I realised I found my game: Research, the Bedrock of Agriculture.
