    I'm enjoying your sock choice in this one. Kids starting to wearing different socks was a game changer with putting laundry away. So much easier and no searching for mates! 😂👍 I like this tank set up, giving the boa multiple temperature zones seems like a smart choice.

    So I think heat mats and belly heat were designed for helping digestion and making sure the “reptile” has sufficient heat to digest and to do other body functions. It definitely helps keep the environment warmer but that’s what I think they were designed for.

      They had hot rocks that were heated by the sun naturally and ofc that helps w digestion but they’re main body temperature maintaining component is the “sun” or your heating light.

    RHPs are awesome, I use CHEs on mesh tops for boas if possible too. Awesome that you have a Paraguana too that's insane. Very rare locality boa

    I absolutely love that you have mismatched socks on. 🤣🤣🤣
    Great enclosure btw. I think heat from above is much more natural and if you put a decent sized piece of slate rock in there where it can absorb the heat, she can get belly heat that way. 🤘🏻☺️💕

      overhead heat for the win. Its been great to watch her regulate vertically. haha thank you i gave up pairing my socks years ago

    I don't use belly heat either and my corn snake is fine. Belly heat is a bit dangerous and doesn't seem necessary.

    I didn't realize uth were the standard. Seems nonsensical to me. Heat comes from the sun, not the earth lmao

    • @leafystreet
      @leafystreet  2 роки тому

      yea i agree. Trying to make the transition across all my setups. I think the thought with uth was that reptiles will routinely bask on rocks that have been heated by the sun but its pretty easy to replicate that in captivity. snakes are only slightly trickier because they prefer security and heat at the same time

    I don’t see how it’s controversial I mean there’s no natural belly heat generators

    • @leafystreet
      @leafystreet  2 роки тому

      I think its just that i don't see many boa keepers ditching the heat tape and pads. When i first started keeping, that was standard, but we seem to be moving the other way

    Weird controversial choice of socks! You grab attention with the wit and I've been going through the videos just for that, not the reptiles or biodomes but the quick chuncks of clever comedy that slides right in there like a snake in my babies crib. No shortage of baby tears here but I've learned alot already like Baby Tears are great for biodomes. keep watching
