Tory mini-budget is a 'tax cut for the wealthiest', says shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves

- Rachel Reeves has branded Kwasi Kwarteng’s mini-budget as a “tax cut for the wealthiest.”
In her keynote speech at the Labour party conference, the shadow chancellor said trickle-down economics is “an idea that has been tried, tested and has failed.”
After her damning comments about the impact of the economic plan on the working people, Ms Reeves remarked: “All for what? Not to invest in the industries of the future. Not for our NHS. Not our schools. But for tax cuts for the wealthiest.”

Labour and most media were shouting from the rooftops when Sunak raised taxes, claiming it would hurt the poor.
Now, when conservatives lower the tax burden, the same people are screaming it will benefit the rich.
This is party politics which is truly holding this country back, as far as real debates on issues that matter.
This shower would ruin us, the tax increases are gone, the threshold before tax is up, the actual rate is also down.
Blame the monarchy, and their rosthchild banking chums, this is nothing to do with democracy.

About time. I pay far too much tax.
Before everyone starts to criticise the new chancellor and Prime Minister, we need to first of all review our corporation tax rate and compare it with Irelands.
Their tax rate is low and has the highest growth rate out of every European country. I think Ireland has something like a 10% growth rate, so we need to give this a lot more time for everything to bed itself down.
But corporations also need to have confidence that the UK isnt going to increase the corporation tax as soon as labour or another Chancellor and Prime Minister take office next.
We can only see positive growth if confidence can be restored between companies and government. And this is the bit that i feel will ruin any chance of this working.

Look at the facts: The EU has double digit Inflation. Some EU countries have 20+% Inflation.
The wonderful USA has higher Inflation and the Fed Exchange last week increased interest rates by 1.25% and are 1% higher than the UKs.
Educate yourselves and don't listen to the UK media. Support your country.
Difficult times for all but we're in a better place than the EU and USA.
One day I hope there becomes some kind of major crisis which forces the party In power (likely tories) to have to reduce cost of living prices and actually charge people in the millions and billions.

That's a dumb take. The point is that if you reduce the top percentage the top earners benefit while the ones at the bottom don't. Why reduce the top tax brackets? They're a small portion of the country. They don't contribute to the economy nearly as much as the people at the bottom. Want to improve the economy? Lower the bottom taxes. Let the people spend money in the economy instead of what the rich do (horde it in investment accounts). This is totally fucked. Eat the rich

I'm low ish income and thrilled with the tax cut. The problem with higher taxes is this .....leakage...a third of our money go to fken useless bureaucrats and to make the useless state bigger
I could of told her this 35 years ago, nice of her to catch up. Tories have been doing this forever, its hardly news and being blunt all those people that think they are tories and vote for them deserve this. Deserve what. My income tax just went down, I don't have to pay an increase in national insurance and the taxes have been slashed off my fuel bills so I can afford to heat my home. I don't care if rich people get richer. As long as rich people don't take all my money and expand government and waste it on things like...un winnable wars. And aid that never reaches the poor. Or 4 star hotels for people with no national insurance number when there a 4 million national insurance number holders.. homeless in the streets.

Why aren't they. Things have never been this bad under labour. The worst was waiting 2 days for a GP now under Tories you are lucky if you get a hold of a GP in 2 weeks.
@@erik-tea-bag I know plenty of people in my area who can get a GP appointment within a week. In fact, I can normally get one that same day. Yours and my anecdotal experiences don't represent the true reality nationwide so shut up. And the reason they are no different is all mainstream parties are loyal to, and prioritise big business. They care more about the short term, being re-elected and money, than serving the country.
