Some great photos! And although I've already seen many in earlier videos I'd have liked to have a bit more time to look at each picture, they went by so fast!
Great advice Greg, Just starting to declutter my corner of our “study”. So I’m currently unloading some of my gear to the local Op shop and just keeping My G9 and 200D. Just need to allocate time to shoot… always lawns to mow and chores around the house too. 😢
Happy holidays Greg, and I could not agree more. Your shots are truly amazing and inspiring as usual. As the New Year approaches, I plan to use more of my gear more often. I'm finding my manual lenses more enjoyable as I get to hit focus better the more I try. (Eyeglasses, Diopters and no Live View ...Oh My) Ok some Wizard of Oz there ... lol Seriously though, you have taught me to focus in other ways, many thanks !!
I have been having a bit of fun with a Lumix GX8 lately. I think the colour is somewhat better than with the Sony I have had since 2012, and, although I have saved almost nothing in weight, I feel more comfortable with the Lumix, including better one handed operation. Something that is becoming clear to me is the time it takes to get on top of the features of a camera. I took photos at a pre-Christmas event this afternoon, and found my shots improving every few minutes as I tweaked settings, doing things I hadn't thought of before. And that implies that, unless you get a new camera which is almost the same as your older camera, you will have to go through that process all over again. Maybe it's best to get on top of what you have.
I only have a little canon 200d(Rebel SL2) and its auto focus is great out to about 15 -20 mtrs, after that and especially to focus on distant tree's or subjects its horrible and needs to be manually focussed and its a 2018 camera. But as you say, get out and use it which i do almost every day even if its just a couple of hours in the front yard taking photos of birds although I don't post them to socials unless really good. Was the lookout tower by any chance the 1 in Bendigo at 1 tree hill, although it looks a bit bigger than that.
@@GregCarrickoh? im not the kind of person that knows a lot about cameras because im pretty much a beginner😅, however I do love old cameras and how they give that mesmerizing glowy feel with also other functions but I cant seem to find any good ones🤔 any help would be appreciated 😁
Nice work Greg👍🏽
Great shots, my friend!
Very wise words Greg 👌

Thanks Greg and happy Sunday. I'm now going to grab the dog, my camera and a roll of HP5 and do just what you recommend.
I love my Fujifilm X-T3. It is the best camera I have used in over 60 years. My photos are fantastic, nearly as good as yours Greg.

Panasonic make some good cameras, the GX line is well liked. And yes, familiarity can breed creativity :)
New gear? What's that? I've been shooting with a 41-year-old camera today, and it was so much fun!

The tower is at Mt Donna Buang.
Thanks for the encouragement! I love using my Canon Rebel T2i (always with auto focus, though (-: )
I don't use Canon, but I've heard the Rebels are good.
Put some Voigtländers on the Fuji to get rid of any AF questions!
can you recommend a good and not pricey camera that shoots nice nightmode pictures :) ?
Pretty much anything made in the last 8 years.

I wonder if half the problem is "that youngsters" don't know how to manual or pre-focus a lens?
